Afternoon!

I have slept all morning (my headache made me feel sick, so dh took the girls to school, small perk of him being at home at least).
Just catching up with all the tennis news.

Djok's arrogance is astounding. I mean, I knew that already, but this incident takes it to a new level of 'don't you know who I am'.

Raahh · 07/09/2020 12:19

And, yy- very exciting that there will be a new winner. And I like don't mind who it is of those who are left. I suppose Thiem has 'served his time' (It's Thiem TIme) more than the others. I'd be a bit Hmm if Pospisil won- he is becoming too Novak-like for me , with his mushroom business, and the player council stuff. Anyone else- great Grin.

PrivateSpidey · 07/09/2020 13:10

Just had to Google Pospisil's mushroom business Grin who knew?! (Well I didn't Grin)

I'd put Thiem/Medvedev ahead of the rest (I think? Based on previous slam results) but it's a big chance for all of them.

I've just noticed Shapavalov is still in the doubles as well (QFs), quite unusual these days isn't it.

That Kvitova match was good btw, sorry for Petra (she had four match points) but Rogers played really well.

JaneJeffer · 07/09/2020 13:19

Mushroom business? Sounds like something Andre would have gotten up to.

Yes, I agree that statement was incredibly self serving. He had hours to craft it with PR and this is what he comes out with.

I bet the Serbian one said “ they are all against me, my brothers. It is a Western conspiracy to keep Roger and Rafa ahead of me! By the power of ionised water and deep freeze therapy I will rise again.
I am keeping the name of the line Judge anonymous but apparently her surname is something like Fedal.....”

kazzaD66 · 07/09/2020 14:42
Grin Or words to that effect starks
PatienceVirtue · 07/09/2020 15:08

Doesn't it all make you love Andy Murray more - feminist, funny, fighter? I bet he's vaccinated his kids. Reminds me of the story about Instagram q&a with Murray and Djokovic when a fan asked them what the first thing they do on waking up in the morning.

Djokovic: 'Gratitude and prayer, a couple of long deep breaths, hugging my wife and running to my children.'

And you Andy?
'I go for a pee'.

kazzaD66 · 07/09/2020 16:01

I know. Andy did look a bit 'wtf?' at Cock's answer Grin

JaneJeffer · 07/09/2020 17:40

DeMinaur seems to be flying away with the second set.

I see Naomi beat Kontaveit. Someone might have already said that?

OP posts:
Raahh · 07/09/2020 18:00

I am glad De Minaur is doing well.

I am so tired.

JaneJeffer · 07/09/2020 18:03

I'm really tired as well. Tempted to have a little nap!

PrivateSpidey · 07/09/2020 18:08

I'm watching Serena v Sakkari, it's been quite good so far.

Glad DeMinaur is doing well...

Raahh · 07/09/2020 18:10

I've hardly been awake today Grin. I haven't had a headache for a while, I think the stress of the past few days got to me.

I probably won't sleep tonight now. Grin

PrivateSpidey · 07/09/2020 18:34

Aw the Demon is through! Pleased with that result.

Raahh · 07/09/2020 18:37

He played very well, didn't let up the pace, which was good.

Raahh · 07/09/2020 18:48

Is it me, or is a 'heavily strapped thigh' the thing to have at this year's tournament? I've noticed lots of the players have- and both Pironkova/Cornet have.

Makes a change from knees, I suppose.

JaneJeffer · 07/09/2020 19:25

Serena seems to be getting a run for her money.

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 07/09/2020 19:30

Yes, it's a good match. Sakkari had a break in the final set but it's back on serve now...

Close one.

Raahh · 07/09/2020 19:32

It was Sakkari who beat Serena last week, wasn't it?

I wonder if she'll be more gracious if it happens again?

Raahh · 07/09/2020 20:05

Tim is still bigging up Felix AA .Grin

Raahh · 07/09/2020 20:06

I mean, I have not objection, I think he's great.

Raahh · 07/09/2020 20:06

*no

kazzaD66 · 07/09/2020 20:10

Glad that de Minaur won.
I've gone off Pospisil since he became Cock's new BFF Hmm

And Serena's through.

PrivateSpidey · 07/09/2020 20:17

It felt like it could have gone either way, the Serena match. Not much in it at all.

Hope Tim is going to be vindicated in his praise for FAA - much as I like Domi. Actually I don't mind who wins this one.

Just going to make a nice cup of tea and see if there's any good Roses left in the box (probably not Hmm) and settle in to watch...

Fizzywinegum · 07/09/2020 20:58

I like how you’ve got the Christmas chocs out already Spidey

We’re away so I have to fire up the iPad if I want to watch tennis - I’m just trying to summon up the energy to watch Thiem/FAA.

I’ve gone off Thiem a little bit since he got the frosted hair and started drinking Red Bull but I don’t really mind who wins. I’m still a bit in shock about Djok going out of the tournament.
