Federer and Nadal might be having a quiet celebration over Zoom right now.

AngeloMysterioso · 06/09/2020 23:20

Leon Smith seems to have a pretty low opinion of Djok from his tweets

What was he saying? He’s deleted them now...

Raahh · 06/09/2020 23:35

OMG!!

I had no idea about any of this because I went to bed at 8pm with the start of a headache and and dh has just told me as I came downstairs .

Wow.

JaneJeffer · 06/09/2020 23:38

I bet you're wide awake now Raahh Grin

I am! Which is not goid, Jane.Grin

I’m with you MagiMedi

No time for either Williams or Djokovic. His attitude and arrogance is appalling and he thoroughly deserves his DQ.

Fools on Twitter who don’t even know the rules of tennis arguing that he didn’t mean it..... 🙄 The Rule doesn’t require ‘intent’!

He was at it earlier in the match too. Taking MTO when he is losing and slamming another ball into the side boards.

Nick Kyrgios has woken up and tweeted a poll, asking how many years ban he would get if he pulled the same stunt.
I think 1000 years is winning. 😂

Delighted for the tournament that we will have a new Slam winner, although I for one did not think this was a shoo in for Djerk.

Medvedev has been looking very dangerous, ditto Thiem. Even Sascha is focusing on his matches now he isn’t cavorting around the Med with the latest model girlfriend.

tobee · 07/09/2020 01:09

So he has now apologised. Finally. I daresay he was told to be his management.

tobee · 07/09/2020 01:10

Or encouraged. But he should have done it at a presser

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 07/09/2020 01:22

I don't think for one minute that he wrote that apology himself.

@magimedi lovely to see you. I'm sorry to hear your DH has been unwell but so glad to hear he is on the mend!

Jourdain11 · 07/09/2020 05:56

His statement in Serbian is somewhat different than the English one Wink

magimedi · 07/09/2020 07:18

@Jourdain11

Tell us more about the Serbian statement, please.

JaneJeffer · 07/09/2020 07:42

My favourite Djokovic meme so far

There are a few bits which read that he feels more sorry for himself than for the situation...

This whole situation makes me really sad and empty. I checked how the line judge feels, and according to the information I received, she feels good, thank God. I can't reveal her name to preserve her privacy. I am very sorry that I caused her such stress. It was not intentional. That was wrong.

I want to turn this wrongful experience, a disqualification from the tournament, into an important life lesson, so that I can continue to grow and develop as a person, but also as a tennis player.

magimedi · 07/09/2020 07:51

Thanks, Jourdain.

What a self centered twat he is ...............

JaneJeffer · 07/09/2020 07:57

There's been a lot of unfavourable comparison to how a similar thing happened Shaggy in the Davis cup and he went and did the press conference. He was 17 at the time (and magi still fancied him Grin).

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 07/09/2020 08:30

He took the easy way out and put out a statement after he was on the plane home.

And what a wanky new age statement it was! Continuing to grow and evolve as a human being and a tennis player, bollocks, bollocks.......
It's the sort of guff Harry and Meghan come out with Hmm
Can't imagine Andy spouting such toe curling tosh. But then, I doubt he'd be in a position where he'd have to.

Fizzywinegum · 07/09/2020 08:48

Yes the ‘apology’ does seem to be more about him doesn’t it and it is very new age - he keeps talking about growing and developing but never really seems to change.

They were talking about Shapovalov having to apologise for something similar when he was just 17. I think Djok should have apologised in person but can understand why he didn’t want to face a hostile press conference.

In the actual tournament Shaggy won against Goffin (I think he’s too old for magi now Wink). He seems to have been quietly winning matches.

Also did anyone see the pancake of Novak’s face on his Instagram? At first I thought it was just a drawing but I think it’s a pancake! (I’m easily impressed!)

I also liked the GIF that someone posted last night of Roger and Rafa laughing together Smile

JaneJeffer · 07/09/2020 08:52

I saw those pancakes Fizzy. They did a few players. Amazing. I'd love some pancakes now.

Shaggy is getting on a bit, isn't he? 21 is nearly past it! Grin

Fizzywinegum · 07/09/2020 09:43

Grin magi

When Shapovalov balled an umpire in the eye he was tearful and clearly mortified. He said immediately afterwards that he was 'incredibly ashamed and embarrassed'.

So different to Djokovic, who's almost twice the age that little 17-year-old Denis was at the time.

PatienceVirtue · 07/09/2020 11:39

PS I really like Denis. And all the others. There's no one I wouldn't be happy to see win.

JaneJeffer · 07/09/2020 11:44

It's very exciting that someone different is going to win.

Come on Sascha!!
