Morning!

Thanks for the new thread- once again a combination of our internet/Prime deciding it doesn't want to work in the evening, and me falling asleep, meant I missed Sascha. Poor Sascha. I hope he doesn't dwell on the lost match points going forward, it sounds like a good match.

Djok won his match, I notice. No idea how his neck was. Close first set by the look of it, til the tie break. Will Sandgren be able to produce an upset in the next round?

It has been raining cats and dogs all night- I've been awake since 2.30am. Yesterday was the complete opposite. This weather is annoying.

magimedi · 25/08/2020 08:35

So pleased Andy won.

Pouring with rain here.

DH making slow but good progress & the hospital & all the staff are AMAZING. So pleased he is in the one he is & not a couple of the other local ones.

I am OK - just very tired. I get to see him for an hour every day, which is lovely.

Raahh · 25/08/2020 08:47

Morning Magi - it is good to hear your dh is progessing- even if it is slow- and also good you can visit. It's my worst nightmare during all this, that one of my lot end up in hospital somewhere and I can't visit.

PrivateSpidey · 25/08/2020 08:50

That's good news magi - glad you are able to visit.

Thanks for the new thread Jane - honestly, if you want something doing eh?! Grin

I saw Djok getting some kind of neck massage on court. Doesn't seem to have affected him too much though.

I see Thiem lost Shock I'd been thinking he was the main threat to Djok!

I'm really pleased for Andy. It was weird without the crowd though, some really great winners and no-one there to cheer them Sad

Raahh · 25/08/2020 08:59

I missed the Thiem result! Wasn't much of a fight either, by the look of it. I hope Dom is ok- otherwise his decision to maybe jeopardise his clay chances, to play in the US, might not be a wise one.

I think the biggest threat to Djok in his half is Medvedev, in theory. But it's hard to comment on anyone's form, when there has been no real play for months.

I'm trying to motivate myself to do something useful. I'm not getting far.

kazzaD66 · 25/08/2020 09:06

Thanks for the new thread Jane

Good news about your DH magi

From memory, I don't think Sascha actually had any match points but it will certainly haunt him that he served three doubles when serving for the match and then at least one more, possibly two, in his final service game, when serving to stay in the match.

Shame about Djok but I did see a photo of him getting treatment on his neck during the match, so it would seem the neck injury is real.

Yes, saw that Thiem lost very badly. Grigor also lost.

Fizzywinegum · 25/08/2020 09:24

Thanks for the new thread Jane

Glad that your DH is making progress magi and that he’s being well looked after and you are able to see him. Make sure you look after yourself as well.

The rain also woke me up in the night - it’s pouring down here!

Didn’t manage to stay awake to see to see the Andy match but it’s a good win for him although it seems he was helped by Sascha’s serving.

I saw that Thiem lost quite easily which was a bit of a surprise. I think Andy is playing Raonic next - another tough one for him.

I’ve already been shopping - I feel like going back to bed!

PrivateSpidey · 25/08/2020 10:34

No I don't think he did have match points did he (Sascha I mean). I might have said this already but Sam and Petch were going on about how he's had months to work on his serve etc while the tour was suspended Hmm Yes maybe but that's not the same as trying to serve out a match is it? Confused

Andy said he'd been losing practice matches lately as well. He has to be one of the toughest/most competitive out there in an actual match. I reckon he's got a decent chance against Milos too.

Btw I saw Djok did his usual post match celebration last night Grin

Goffin was my favourite though, waving enthusiastically to all corners of the stadium Grin

Raahh · 25/08/2020 10:55

Sorry, tired brain mi-read Sascha's match report.

I agree that knowing how a serve perfoms in practice, is not the same as seeing how it works against actual players.

I can't believe Djok still did the arm thingHmm. Ok, I can believe it Grin.

Raahh · 25/08/2020 10:57

Gofin Grin

That's nice. Even when there is no-one there.

I have just got very wet, walking the dog.

And now I feel too warm and sweaty. I am sick of this weather.

JaneJeffer · 25/08/2020 11:53

Glad your DH is improving magi and that he's being well looked after in hospital. Get plenty of rest yourself!

I agree about Sascha's serve. Obviously he got nervous. I don't know how he can work on that.

Well done for closing out the old thread aswell Jane Grin

I think I saw someone coming on court the other day, having been announced, and waving enthusiastically to an empty stadium Grin
But I can't remember who it was.
Which isn't very helpful Confused

Raahh · 25/08/2020 16:25

kazza Grin

I have finally got the chance to sit down. Dh has taken dd2 to a hospital appointment (should have been seen last November!)- and I decided to take the dog out. I am very wet again. Grin.

Medvedev is wearing his hair in his 'trophy ceremony' combed over style I see Grin. Well, you can't see now. He has his hat on.

These two have refreshingly dull kits Grin.

Raahh · 25/08/2020 16:26

Choking on the big points/big stage has been an issue for Sascha - going back to him. He seemed to get better (going on to win at the tour finals)- but the curse of London seemed to hit him, because he fell apart a bit after winning there.

Raahh · 25/08/2020 17:00

Oh dear- a camera man has been hit by the ball- I think it was Bedene who struck the ball in semi- anger- but he wasn't aiming at the cameraman. The supervisor has been called. Be a shame if he thrown out because of this - the camera man is fine.

Raahh · 25/08/2020 17:01

Common sense prevails and the match carries on. Just a warning.

Fizzywinegum · 25/08/2020 17:04

Bedene has hit a cameraman by accident with a ball (a bit like when Henman hit a ball girl at Wimbledon) - the supervisor was called but he just got a code violation - thought he might have been defaulted.

Raahh · 25/08/2020 17:05

I'm glad he wasn't - it was very much a nothing incident.

Fizzywinegum · 25/08/2020 17:07

Yes I’m glad he wasn’t defaulted Raahh - it did seem like it was an accident - the supervisor took his time - bet he was having a little snooze!

JaneJeffer · 25/08/2020 17:09

I asked DH to pick up a bottle of wine on his way home and this is what he turned up with. AIBU to whack him over the head with it?

LTB Grin

Fizzywinegum · 25/08/2020 17:13

What’s the point of de-alcoholised wine? I wouldn’t be impressed with that!

Raahh · 25/08/2020 17:14

Fizzy I think it is the same as with the changing rooms- the supervisor's room is miles away from the 'outside' courts that they are using (and pretending are Cincy).

Jane Grin

Raahh · 25/08/2020 17:14

It would be a long way to actually come from Cincy. Grin

JaneJeffer · 25/08/2020 17:16

There's no point to it. It's an abomination. He was rushing because he's taking DS2 to his Gaelic match and just grabbed a bottle SadAngry
