Ready for the next car crash carnage - please fill up other thread first. I'm sure you can think of something. Grin

And Thumbface. Just yuck.

Oddly, this is something we all agree on.

I wonder why? Hmm

This w/end has dragged somewhat without the MAFS fix although the thread has kept me going . Yes - I know I need a life . But ......

Can we have a go at describing the millionaire newcomer before we meet him and see who comes the closest to the reality ?

I think he’ll be quiet , unassuming , non-showy , kind to old ladies and animals ( in that order) . A philanthropist , drive a small family saloon car ( ignore the Bentley in the promotional clip , that was just the experts trying to have fun with us ) .
He’ll be matched with an over painted , over Botoxed , over grasping harridan , who , initially , he’ll be disappointed with but because of his magnificent character he will gradually change into a loving woman , worthy of his millions .
Or will he be Trump’s unacknowledged brother who went to Australia to make a fortune ?
The permutations are endless .

Eaumyword · 16/08/2020 09:44

I fear he'll be brash new money, who wants the cliche of a living barbie doll and will be disappointed when faced with a normal human woman!

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 16/08/2020 10:03

Yes I’m not so optimistic about millionaire.

Millionaire will be single because he wants someone beautiful and clever, who has her own drive and ambition, but in such a way that it doesn’t get in the way of his life at all. She will be constantly available to him, but have a life filled with work and hobbies that she loves. She will have a loving and devoted family (of a certain class) but be willing to drop them completely when he snaps his fingers. He wants a woman who doesn’t want him for his money, but who will be utterly beholden to him financially (which he will then hate her for). He wants a sweet, old fashioned girl, with lip fillers, fake boobs and a natural beauty that won’t fade no matter how much her skin is stretched. He wants a woman he can have a conversation with, but who doesn’t have any opinions.

All his exes were just after him for his money and were fake.

And yes, he is very new-money, wants a woman with his attitude to everything, but she must also come from old-money.

He will be given a wannabe-middle-class woman who has said that she doesn’t have any interest in money or wealth, just wants someone real. She will be thrilled that he’s rich, until she realises that he can’t talk about anything without bringing his wealth into it. She is quite average in a lot of ways, but has a good heart and would have his back in everything. There’s a chance that she has one of those quiet intelligences that we all hoped Nadia might have (but didn’t).

He also has erectile disfunction, but pretends he is a stud.

BedknobsNoBroomsticks · 16/08/2020 10:47

@RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder

From what I saw at the end of the last episode he definitely comes across as new money who thinks everyone should fall at his feet and love him.

Love this bit - but how will we know , will he let it slip - in order to make us feel sorry for his previous lack of relationships?

Will the EXPERTS tell us - see reason above ?

Will it become obvious when he spends many nights in a spare bedroom
to save his ‘wife’s’ reputation?

I do actually think he’ll be another Troy but was trying to give an unlikely alternative scenario ( tries to retract from initial character promotion in the light of obvious disagreement).

Don’t retract! We need the variety. If we always all agree it’s less fun Grin

I think his wife will let it slip in vague terms after she’s annoyed him, “He’s just a bit... difficult to get to grips with. I know he comes across as a hard man, but some of him is a bit too soft.”

dimples76 · 16/08/2020 11:26

Rinder I love your millionaire's wife quote!

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 16/08/2020 11:32

Thanks dimples Grin I’m clearly over invested already. I could have sworn last weekend I was reluctant to carry on!

Oh I WISH I’d thought of that . I’ve just spilled my Sunday morning coffee everywhere , laughing at the vision . ( must try harder ).

Cracked the character again! How do your do it?

Or possibly it'll come out on a girls' night.

Girl 1 - "Let's raise a glass to our husbands!

MrsMillionaire - Raise a glass! He couldn't even manage that!

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 16/08/2020 12:46

Grin we all need to watch for any throw away comments about raising a smile/the roof/a glass or any reference to him being soft.

My crystal ball is a thing of beauty 🔮

I’m going to refrain from looking at this thread for a while ( at least five minutes ) otherwise my “allowed” glass of Prosecco will go the same way as my coffee .

RedCatBlueCat · 16/08/2020 13:02

Just caught up with you all. Binge watched last week, then read the thread!
Is it me, or is the quality of the blokes down this time?
If this is the best of 140000 applications, what were the rest like? Or have they been picked for car crash TV?
Cant see any of them except perhaps NPJ surviving this.

SpanishFly · 16/08/2020 13:35

The Stepford Wives one reminds me (mannerisms and facial expressions and the way she emphasises some words) of Stacey Solomon

Eaumyword · 16/08/2020 13:41

I always think that about politicians too Redcat!Grin
A country with 60m people (more in the US) and the Cabinet is all they can come up with?!
I definitely heard another drinking game quote on Friday which was 'walls up' - Nadia said that a lot (don't blame her!) One of the other women had her walls up too!

CatherineCawood · 16/08/2020 14:29

Episode one of series 5 has reappeared on All4. Hurrah. I can watch it now I've watched 2, 3, 4 and 5! Confused

OP posts:
RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 16/08/2020 19:26

I kept reading “walls up” as an alternative to “bottoms up” and thinking, “That doesn’t sound like Nadia.” Grin

Walls up means you have to down it as a result of my poor comprehension skills.

awaynboilyurheid · 16/08/2020 21:18

Just joining in and enjoying reading all the posts, really liking Telv and Sarah
Glad that NPJohn got someone who seems -notbatshitcrazy- normal this time and unlike Debbie won’t rant she didn’t get anything she wanted and the even cake wasn’t gluten free! He deserves a second chance since the ahem “experts” got it so wrong first time
Dean and Davina remind me of people whose exes are always the crazy ones! Really not keen on either of them
Will be interesting to see how Dean is when his partners little girl comes into the picture and Davina is all over the place one minute he’s annoying her then she switches no wonder Ryan looks so confused!
As for Troy ....

Has anyone noticed how often we refer back to our “friends” of season 4 ? Sean & Susan , Alene & Simon , Abandrew , the twins , Spooney , Nadia . Were they that much more memorable than the couples we’ve met in season 5 or is it just that it was a new form of car crash TV that we bonded over ? I can’t , honestly , see myself feeling so upset about the end of the commitment ceremony , as I did with Susan and Sean - not even if NPJ and Melissa don’t make it after a steamy few weeks . Only time will tell I guess .
JoanWilderbeast · 16/08/2020 21:23

Latecomer to MAFS but it made me remember something I'd watched years ago called (after some google searching) Seven Year Switch. If you like this I recommend looking that up on All Four. Much more raw and fewer episodes..

CatherineCawood · 16/08/2020 21:23

So now I've seen ep1 I know what you are all talking about!

So the experts said there would be more sisterhood/brotherhood stuff this series. So basically they loved what kicked off on boys night series 4 and want the same drama this time too.

I quite like all the couples. Feeling kind of sorry for the reluctant husband of Jo. Do you think the whole scared of heights stuff was made up to get him to pay her attention/get physical with her. She recovered quick smart once she had fallen into his arms!
