Yes I don't understand Jon,s motives what did he get out of it 🤔

Januaryissodull · 25/03/2021 21:03

@StillCoughingandLaughing the police woman looked familiar too. She wasn't in the end credits. Has anyone any idea if she's been in anything?

I can't understand Jon's motives either.

GreenClock · 25/03/2021 21:33

Spider has been a great character. A catalyst for a new lease of life for Emily, Roy and Toyah who are all good actors.

That seedy photographer making Toyah lift her hemline though - ughhh.

I can’t remember what John ‘s motives were either. Can’t be money - “pilot John” could probably have got together with a businesswoman like Jackie Ingram or a well-off professional woman.

Absolutely. At the time, I thought it was a major change for Emily - but having rewatched so many years of Classic Corrie, I’ve realised she actually did have quite a feisty side, and a dry sense of humour, for a long time. It was only for the last couple of pre-Spider years that she’d been reduced to a well-meaning but full old dear chasing people to buy raffle tickets.

x2boys · 26/03/2021 08:08

The whole Deirdre being conned story line would have made far more sense if they had done it a couple of years earlier and made Samir the con man, much older women ,etc selling her house .

‘Full’ old dear?! Stupid fat fingers. DULL!

The building society woman was in Early Doors as Tania the barmaid. What a series that was! Why is not repeated?

One of the "crime won't crack itself" policemen showed up again in modern-day Corrie recently ... as a policeman!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 26/03/2021 11:57

He’s also Eileen’s ex-husband in real life!

ArmsClary · 26/03/2021 14:46

She’d drifted into chasing annoyed-looking people for raffle ticket money and saying very little beyond ‘Mr Sugden, please!’ with a frustrated eye roll.

@StillCoughingandLaughing best non-verbal impression ever 😂 I properly 'lol'd' at that GrinGrin

TheTeaCosyofDoom · 27/03/2021 18:31

Aaah - 'Early Doors', now you're talking. I blow the dust off the DVD player on a regular basis to enjoy once more the pleasure of that beauty.
Do asthma inhalers really make that whizzing noise when you use them? (Fellow enthusiasts will know what I'm on about.)

Tenementfunster · 27/03/2021 18:35

The inhaler!! She was a nosy bleeder!

TheTeaCosyofDoom · 28/03/2021 13:43

Tenementfunster - Do you remember by any chance the name of the dog that found the World Cup after it was stolen? (OK, I'm going to shut up about 'Early Doors' now. Maybe we should start a thread about it.)

WeeWillyWanky · 28/03/2021 22:05

Oh I love Early Doors, too and got very excited when Phil (or was it Nige?) appeared in Corrie recently. The actress who played Jean was also in Corrie as a friend of Jack's- Connie, I think. Tyrone had a problem with her as he thought she was trying to replace Vera. Winnie also worked for Mike Baldwin as I recall!

Tenementfunster · 28/03/2021 22:56

Winnie... she had some withering lines🤣

StillCoughingandLaughing · 29/03/2021 16:37

So tempted to buy one of these to wear for the trial episodes Grin

x2boys · 29/03/2021 17:24

Didn't Tony Blair have to step in at the time ?🤣

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 29/03/2021 18:59

Yes, you're right.

The Weatherfield One was discussed in Parliament.

ShatnersWig · 29/03/2021 19:12

Emily up the tree, threatening to pee on Les Battersby and paraphrasing Churchill.

Just shows how far Corrie has got away from what made it so good for 40 years. Character-driven stuff with humour.

thenightsky · 30/03/2021 18:27

I'd forgotten what a nasty cow Audrey Roberts was!

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 30/03/2021 20:21

Hayley! 😊

StillCoughingandLaughing · 31/03/2021 15:31

Just catching up on the last few days... given the Rovers is a free house, don’t Jack and Vera - and therefore Alec - own the building? So wouldn’t he be partially responsible for the stairs despite not living there?

Also, why is it so important that Ken tell Deirdre that he had his suspicions? Couldn’t he have just kept schtum?

And finally, is it just me, or is Ken’s jelly mould a little on the... phallic side?

@x2boys

The whole Deirdre being conned story line would have made far more sense if they had done it a couple of years earlier and made Samir the con man, much older women ,etc selling her house .
That would have been very obvious and quite stereotypical though. From the programmes pov at the time probably neither the Samir or Jon storyline went the way which viewers would have anticipated.

If Samir had swindled her it wouldn't have ended up with her jail and being the shocking and explosive story the Jon story was at the time.

justthecat · 31/03/2021 20:11

I noticed the mould today and was 🤔😆

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 31/03/2021 23:21

Was that Hayley's first ever appearance?

In the office at Firman's, being shouted at by Curly?

Wasn't Alma lovely and kind to her?

I think Alma is such an amazing woman. She looks fabulous and has such a gorgeously gentle nature.

She's so nice.
