Yes, Maxine was really good. I'd remembered as being quite an airy fairy lightweight character, but she really saw through Alan and his jealous abusiveness and was incredibly supportive to Fiona.

Yes Maxine is well acted and so good at self-deprecation.

Didn't she have some sort of alcohol issue in RL?

I think so - and the old Colombian marching powder...

It’s a shame, as I think Tracy Shaw’s off-screen life tainted the character in the end. From memory her appearances became quite sparse in her final months.

I read that Tracy Shaw's Dad said she was surviving on three bottles of wine and a packet of crisps a day ,so make of that what you will!
Fiona's Dad looks very young ,he doesn't look much older than Lee

It feels weird seeing Diane Sugden as her mother too!

I remember really fancying Alan, and I still thought he was attractive this time round. What an utterly disgusting character he turned out to be though. I don't remember loathing him as much back in the day...I guess my tolerance for idiot men has warned over the years!!

Yes he was a pretty nasty character ,I think he could have had a longer part though and become really evil😂

A couple of days ago there were several households having proper breakfasts round their tables. Now they seem to treat themselves in Roys. I always like the Rovers staff sitting round having elevenses in the back room.

True- you very rarely (if ever) see a family eating a meal at home nowadays in Corrie.

The way she came out the car was like they were trying to smuggle somebody else in and Maxine and her outfit 🤔

I know I could have done a better job with a few clips and I'm no hairdresser! You would have thought with them both being hairdressers they could have done a half decent job !🤣

Apropos of nothing, really, I was fantasising that I could lock the current Corrie writers and directors and producers in a room and MAKE THEM EXPLAIN why Gail's character is intelligent and strong in the 90s yet has long morphed into an absolute ditz in the current episodes. Drives me mad.

You could join my interrogation committee in said fantasy if you like.

I would ask the writers why Nick looks a good 10 years older than Leanne even though in Classic Corrie they're the same age.

I would also ask why Natalie was supposed to be more attractive than the lovely Sally .

She was single, wealthy, independent, had her own business, no young children, available, offered it to Kevin on a plate....... Other than that I have no idea I'd still prefer Sally

Also why Jim in the (reasonably) current episodes came back to carry out that really dark scam on Liz, pretending that their dead daughter Katie was alive. I mean, Jim wasn't perfect but it seemed a step way too far.
