Strictly 2020, Bubbles and no Bruno?

I’m not sure if there is a thread already, please direct me to it if there is!

It’s summer which means its the time of year I start musing about which celebs might be up for the glitter ball trophy this year! I was a bit worried we might not be getting a series this year but a quick google reassured me plans are in place.

So it looks like they are hoping for bubbles between the stars and professionals families, possibly weekly CV testing and temp checks. Hair, make up and costume to be done with PPE. Sounds like they could put on a fairly similar show to normal. No audience though, which will be weird. And I guess no gathering of contestants for the scores, which will be weird. Will the whole thing lack atmosphere?

Maisie looks good, Nicola also looks decent (and she has the best smile), Giovanni is pushing Ranvir already, which is cool, and I think Jamie will be good with Karen.

I also think Jacqui will be out first. Her dress is lovely, though.

And Gorka is irritated by Maisie already too.

b) I've noticed a pattern where a pro who wins, gets a duffer the following year.

c) In the group dance, HArvEy caught my eye as being one to watch.

d) The bloke from the Wanted is surprisingly sexy.

Worth watching for Bill Bailey alone

They all seem lovely people (possible exception Maisie who seems a bit over confident but that may just be her youth) but not that good as dancers so far (Maisie the best I think, followed by Harvey).

Speaking of the latter: his mum called him Harvey with vowels in, so so shall I.

I think the first bottom two is likely to come from Bill (unless he gets a good comedy routine), Caroline, Jacqui and Nicola (the latter not necessarily for dance reasons but will be saved by judges).

Love Nicola’s smile, wow those teeth! Think Katya always has great choreography, should be a good pairing.
Maisie is v annoying agree with others who wish she would tone it down a notch or ten, could be this years Saffron irritating Baker. Or that prize could be won by Caroline Quentin, she’s think she’s a lot better than she really is.
Think Bill is hilarious and did better in group dance than I thought he would.
Loved the group dance shame Graciano didn’t get a partner, he’s my favourite male dancer.

Coming in late:
Clara and Aljaz looking like a very appealing partnership.
Jason looking good to me and I like his personality. American footballers have frequently done well on DWTS, but OTOH the GBP never ever vote for Americans.
Bill looks pretty promising as a comedy trier - anyone who’s seen his musical comedy tours know that this is a man who knows how to practice a routine until it’s perfect. Monkseal described him as giving off “the BBC owes me for this!” energy which is harsh but funny. I do think that the BBC are betting on him to get those Ed Balls viral moments and will be putting him in the pimp slot where possible.
Jacquie looks godawful and I’d put money on her going out first.
Katya seemed initially ecstatic at getting Nicola for obvious reasons - it’s a dream job for profile raising after a couple of dodgy years. But am I imagining that her teeth seemed a bit clenched in the interview with Claudia? I hope I am, because Nicola seems absolutely lovely and I want them to be in as long as possible.

Ranvir's my favourite because I like her as a person. Don't hate anyone...yet

Late to the party having watched on catch up, but I’m here

Initial thoughts:

Maisie and Clara the stand outs.

HRVY was like bambi - all limbs flying around.

Caroline - poised but stiff

Jamie, Max, JJ, Nicola and NFL chap - all very flat footed

Bill - if Oti can fix his posture he has potential to be a good ballroom dancer. I love him, I’ve seen him do stand up live 3 times and he reduces me to tears of laughter every time!

I don't think the pro and celeb are living together. I took it that they were living away from their families / partners but on their own. I think forcing two people to live together would open up a world of issues and I don't think anyone would put themselves in that position.

I know I’ve missed several off there, I was busy scribbling notes as I watched so missed a few 😂

Suffice to say I don’t think anyone was utterly awful - certainly no John Sargent/Anne Widdecombe types. Jackie is the obvious bottom of the pile for now, but I think Anton could get a few nice ballroom routines out of her.
