Our Girl Thread 56 "Stay Obsessed"

We have been discussing the series Our Girl since the first one aired in 2014 and are now on number 56! Occasionally between discussions of Our Girl, we watch the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

Max totally misunderstands her nightmare, like everyone else. Only Elvis really knows what’s going on in her head.

Nothing like embarking on the most serious emotional commitment of your life when you are still suffering from PTSD. Yes, keep encouraging her getting married is a great idea.

The wedding party assemble chez Lane.

The lads all look very smart in their uniform. Wish we'd seen Molly and CJ's wedding.

Two Section and CJ arrive at the church. CJ looks extremely handsome in his dress uniform and medals.

Jamie's going to be standing there a long time, if she hasn't left yet.

Georgie is stressed.

She knows she shouldn't do this, she is panicking.

There's Elvis....

Even I jumped at the knock.

Elvis's timing is perfect, just before Georgie is due to leave for the church!

I absolutely love Georgie's comment that it's not like him to turn up on her wedding day.

Max appears and looks as if he might have a heart attack when he sees Elvis! I don't think he'd really stand much chance against a trained SF killer, do you?

Here we go. Max is threatening a trained killer.

Georgie gets a message from Saira and the penny drops. She is the target, not Georgie.

Georgie gives up on the wedding. Any excuse wasn't it really.

Elvis is so calm

Love Lulu - wish she'd been in the last series.

The penny drops and Georgie realises Abu's target is the graduation ceremony, not her wedding. The next thing we know, she's out of her wedding dress, back in a tracksuit and hurtling off with Elvis at the wheel whilst Max and the other Lanes are left open mouthed.

Poor Max ...

It's Max's job to tell Jamie he's been jilted.

Poor Jamie - he knows something's up. How rotten. Hope Judy can make use of any leftover vol-au-vents from the reception.

Mind you, the co-ordination of Father with groom and best man strikes me as a bit much.

Georgie and Elvis mingle amongst the crowd, undetected. Hardly!

Jason sees Georgie and the game is up. He takes Saira hostage.

Georgie tries to talk him down.

He takes Georgie instead and the SF boys are in place. Elvis is going to take a bullet for her. How many times can that man save her life?

Four ...

... and counting...

It's pretty tense here as Abu has Georgie has hostage.

Elvis offers himself instead of Georgie and drops his weapon. Abu shoots him. Elvis is wounded and Abu is shot dead. I think Georgie shows her true feelings here. We are left wondering whether Elvis will make it or not.
