Tonight's was a bit heavy on the snot'n'tears, wasn't it? If anyone can devise a way of Fletch responding quickly and successfully to his treatment and stopping Essie thinking that she should be able to carry on life as normal whilst she's undergoing chemo, please implement your plan ASAP.

Medani's torso was the only redeeming feature of this episode. I've no idea what the pills he bought were - any ideas?

Ugh what an episode. It's just all a bit too stressy. Holby hospital isn't really what it used to be, is it?

Optimist1 · 16/03/2021 21:22

For the first time tonight I was really puzzled about what on earth was going on!

What was the issue with the patient who stabbed Louis? I couldn't figure out what her issue was with him.

And why did HH tamper with Samira's father's scores, given that he didn't believe he "deserved" to be a transplant recipient? Or was it actually Samira and they were both covering for the other?

Gah, another annoying episode... so far fetched! I know it's a made up drama etc etc but honestly! I'm bored by the whole Ange /Callum thing now. Just find him out!

Popfan · 16/03/2021 21:43

Sorry, Cameron, not Callum!!!

So annoying you've renamed Cameron Grin

Why didn't Chloe go to the police? Did Hansen intend to kill the dad 'accidentally'?

Mumoftwoinprimary · 16/03/2021 22:03

How many homicidal maniacs can you have in a hospital at one time????

spiderlight · 16/03/2021 22:58

I think the patient who stabbed Louis was an old friend and they'd planned their transitions together but had obviously fallen out. Louis worked out that she was getting hold of hormone blockers illegally (because she was still smoking) and it looked as if she stole his key-card, i guess to get her drugs - stabbing him was a bit drastic though.

It is all getting a bit too murdery now though. Cam is more like a pantomime villain every week.

SleepingStandingUp · 17/03/2021 00:56

I wondered if there was a failed romance there with Vicki and Louis. It tends to be love / withdrawal of love that makes people crazy.

I think HH changed the numbers for S because he cares for her but also because he wants Dad gone / out of the hospital. I don't think he deliberately sabotaged the op but maybe subconsciously.

There's a short clip on iPlayer for next week

Optimist1 · 17/03/2021 06:38

Thanks for helping out with some explanations, @spiderlight and @SleepingStandingUp .

ChoccyJules · 17/03/2021 21:26

Yes the stabbing was a bit odd, think we were supposed to think Cam was at it again. She definitely hated Louis for some reason.

I agree it was all getting panto with Cam and the Captive...

SleepingStandingUp · 17/03/2021 23:26

If assumed it was just to thwart Louis' rescue mission. It's like they cut a scene and didn't realise it was the important one.
"You slept with my sister / you denied being trans / you left be to get beaten up / you killed my mother / you are my dog"

ChoccyJules · 18/03/2021 09:23

Yes, that’s it, they cut a scene! No wonder it made no sense.

And YY to those asking why Chloe didn’t go to the police (after everyone with any power in the hospital ignored her). Ange‘s handbag was by her desk, her car was parked outside. Clearly she was missing.

burblish · 18/03/2021 09:47

I’ve been watching Holly City from the very first episode. This week’s episode was one of the worst ever. A woman being held captive by a colleague, a stabbing, a doctor losing focus in theatre and almost botching an op on the person who abused him as a child, and then the Dom misery and Chloe misery and Nicky misery and Sahira misery (and ongoing Sacha misery and Max stress) going on in the background. All that in a 40 minute episode. FFS. And that ridiculous “looming evil” music that’s always playing over Cameron scenes to boot. I used to love Holby, but the misery and melodrama factors these days have been cranked up to the most ridiculous, unrelenting levels. I realise that right now, I’m only watching out of habit and the sunk costs fallacy to see how one or two storylines eventually pan out. Pah!

burblish · 18/03/2021 09:47

Holby, not Holly. Obviously.

MrsHusky · 18/03/2021 12:29

Louis getting stabbed when he was just catching on to what was going on with Cam/Ang was the last straw.. it was one obstacle to Cam being found out too far... pissed me right off.

MyOtherProfile · 19/03/2021 07:48

@burblish I'm right with you there. We just put it on in the background now in the hope something worth watching will happen and that it will get back to good storylines.

HesterLee · 19/03/2021 22:45

Totally agree burblish. It has gone so incredibly dark. There are classic episodes every morning on the Drama channel at the moment - so much better. With Connie before she went weird. And Michael Spence!

burblish · 21/03/2021 00:08

@HesterLee I 100% agree with you. I’ve been watching the old episodes on Drama, too, and they make the current ones look even worse by comparison. It’s not just the storylines - it’s also the characters. So many iconic characters on screen at the same time in Series 12 and the about to start Series 13 on the Drama channel: Classic Connie (not her Casualty incarnation), Michael Spence, Ric, Jac, Sacha, Frieda, Joseph, Faye (one of those characters you love to hate!) - all such interesting characters. And Henrik H’s first episode will be on this week, too. Plus Donna, Mark, Chrissie, Ollie and Penny Valentine are all in the cast. The current cast just can’t compare, sadly, especially now that Rosie Marcel has left, and the storylines aren’t doing them justice either.

HesterLee · 21/03/2021 09:34

I loved Frieda - a brilliant character. And yes, all those others you mention.
I was gutted to lose Rosie Marcel and Hugh Quarshie but I don't blame them for wanting out.
I need to get on YouTube to see if I can find that wedding where Jac gets drunk - always makes me laugh.

ChoccyJules · 22/03/2021 10:21

Can you imagine Frieda squaring up against Cam? He would shrivel away in an instant. Loved her!

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 22/03/2021 21:55

Frieda would have called him out long ago.

Optimist1 · 22/03/2021 22:39

@Gladimnotcampinginthisweather

Frieda would have called him out long ago.
Didn't Frieda do boxing? Or was it kick boxing? Either would be suitable for Cam, IMHO.
