Hope I haven’t jumped the gun, but the old thread was getting quite full.

I’ve just been browsing the
www.bigcommunitysew.co.uk/
and trying to work out what sewing machines they were using at home. I always do that when a magazine has a feature about one if the contestants. Blush
I think Therese has the same Juki machine as I have and she’s also got the mini quilter too. Lucky lass.

Also, do you think that maybe either Therese or that slightly annoying bloke Peter might have won this year as they also have Juliet, the winner from the last series in this group?

Thank you!

Looking forward to tomorrow's episode as I'm starting to get to know them a bit

CaptainMyCaptain · 19/05/2020 22:29

Thanks for the new thread. Tomorrow is the TV highlight of the week - something to look forward to.

Haggisfish · 19/05/2020 23:11

I thought today was tomorrow and kept Panicking I had missed it!

HotCrossBungle · 19/05/2020 23:48

Wonder what the refashion challenge is going to be during lingerie week?

Didkdt · 20/05/2020 00:22

I am really looking forward to tomorrow, but I remember the earlier series uses to have mini technique tutorials and I wish they would bring that back
I also liked the history slots that they used to have.

Silk knickers out of parachutes?

Roussette · 20/05/2020 07:46

I think it might be making a nightdress or pyjamas out of.... ummm... a nightdress or pyjamas Grin

Elephantonascooter · 20/05/2020 07:48

Thanks for the new thread.
I'm looking forward to this week. Lingerie is one thing I will never attempt to make! I don't envy them, although I do because I wish I was as good as they are!
Very much looking forward to tonight's episode

Given the tutorials available for the reverse, how about Bras out of face masks?

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/05/2020 08:47

Lingerie is one thing I will never attempt to make!
I make my own knickers using the Megan Nielsen Acacia pants pattern which is free if you sign up for her newsletter. They are very easy to make and super comfortable although not particularly glamorous. I make them out of left over bits of jersey - so they match my clothes!

I also went on a bra making one day course and have a nice lacy bra. That one is glamorous but not for lounging so I haven't worn it for a while. I will try and add pictures.

Thanks, Grand Smile.

Knickers. I have several pairs of these in various fabrics and 5 pairs waiting for the elastic.

Captain I’ve been thinking about making a simple non wired bra type garment for when I can’t be bothered with an underwired bra but hadn’t thought about making knickers before.
I’m going to check out your suggestion as it sounds a good idea to me.

Your bra looks amazing and very glamorous! Is it as complicated to make as it looks?

Any pattern recommendations for a comfy non wired bra?

There are lots of different processes in bra making. At the workshop I had someone saying 'do this, now do this' and so on so it wasn't difficult. I brought away the paper pattern afterwards but no instructions and I couldn't possibly remember it all. I'm going to have to buy a pattern - the Watson bra looks good, have a look on Instagram for examples.

GrandAltogetherSo · 20/05/2020 09:50

Those knickers look great. I’ve looked at the link and I’m going to read some more. The Stitch Sisters have a knickers making video so I’ll check that out too.

I’m really looking forward to tonight’s programme.

OMG! Autocorrect changed the first ‘knickers’ I wrote into knockers’...Blush

Go for it!

I'm trying to cut back on buying fabric for sustainability reasons and the knickers are great for using up small amounts of left over fabric (I never throw anything away) as are masks and quilting.

SoupDragon · 20/05/2020 11:07

I remember them making a bra on the sewing bee before and was amazed at all the bits and processes that went into it. I know not to attempt one!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 20/05/2020 13:29

Signing in ready for tonight.

Haggisfish · 20/05/2020 13:35

I’d quite like to be able to see some new knockers!Grin love the pants pattern-thank you!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/05/2020 15:06

Many thanks for the thread,

I loved these bits, too.

HotCrossBungle · 20/05/2020 17:56

LOVE your knickers captain and good suggestion for the refashion! I'm keen to make my own knickers some day and would love to learn about bra making because there has to be a better design out there for those of us with big knockers.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 20/05/2020 17:59

What's tonight?

I usually don't bother watching for children's week and for the sports wear.

iklboo · 20/05/2020 18:09

Thank you Smile. Will be watching on catch up later as DH is working.
