Great British Sewing Bee 2020 part 2

Hope I haven’t jumped the gun, but the old thread was getting quite full.

I’ve just been browsing the
www.bigcommunitysew.co.uk/
and trying to work out what sewing machines they were using at home. I always do that when a magazine has a feature about one if the contestants. Blush
I think Therese has the same Juki machine as I have and she’s also got the mini quilter too. Lucky lass.

Also, do you think that maybe either Therese or that slightly annoying bloke Peter might have won this year as they also have Juliet, the winner from the last series in this group?

Oh yes, do agree with that.

SoupDragon · 10/06/2020 21:56

Even with the mismatched trim?

Wolfcub · 10/06/2020 21:56

Right choice

Roussette · 10/06/2020 21:57

Oh wow, Matt got through.

Awww he did well to get so far. Mark

SoupDragon · 10/06/2020 21:57

I think Matt will go next week.

Jellykat · 10/06/2020 21:57

Yep, that's fair enough

Roussette · 10/06/2020 21:58

Next week will be good

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/06/2020 21:58

Right choice for GOTW.

Poshjock · 10/06/2020 21:58

Agree, fair choice. Mark can sew, no question, but he's really got no flair or style.

dillite · 10/06/2020 21:58

Trim was only slightly mismatched though and her's was the best one out of them all.

Mark was the right choice. I think he would have done better if there were more challenges aimed at men- in terms of fabric choices.

Poshjock · 10/06/2020 21:59

Next week is going to play right into Claire's strengths

dillite · 10/06/2020 21:59

What's next week's theme? My cat let out a really loud fart and it distracted me form the TV.

Egghead68 · 10/06/2020 22:01

Good outcome.

SoupDragon · 10/06/2020 22:02

Next week is film week,

Roussette · 10/06/2020 22:02

I think it's sort of Oscars/film. They didn't really say but it seemed red carpet type of thing

Roussette · 10/06/2020 22:03

We'll need a new thread next week!

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/06/2020 22:03

Only two more to go! That went quickly! See you next week.

dillite · 10/06/2020 22:04

oooh, film week. That should bring on some fabulous sewing. And some goth fashion yet again.

Poshjock · 10/06/2020 22:06

I think we'll need a new thread now, the chatter goes on through the week with the catch up watchers.

There was specific mention of a 50's dress that looked abit like Marilyn Monroe's iconic subway dress.

dillite · 10/06/2020 22:11

Here we go. Hopefully I haven't stepped on any toes. If I have, you may punish me by issuing my fabric scissors to cut some duck tape. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/3935149-Great-British-Sewing-Bee-the-last-leg-thread-thats-3-for-those-that-follow

I loved Nicole's skirt!

I thought Mark's skirt was much more wearable than Clare's though. That blue curtain fabric was awful and totally unsuitable! Clare was lucky that she had done enough in the first two rounds to save herself. I don't understand why that didn't work for Therese in last week's episode though? (If I have remembered this correctly.)

Liz's skirt waist fitting was very poor but her blouse was great!

I don't think a challenge which involves endless hemming is designed to bring out the best in contestants tbh.

X post. Thank you for new thread Dillite and for this one Grandaltogetherso!

SilkandSandwiches · 10/06/2020 22:43

Therese didn't have two first places in the bag. She had the opposite - poor first two rounds that weren't quite made up for by a good made to measure,

SchadenfreudePersonified · 11/06/2020 00:11

You know what, until reading Soup's explanation now, I had never even realised that the word starting with S contains the n-word in it.

Nor did I - and I use it a lot!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 11/06/2020 00:12

I wrote a nature post about blue tits once, and it appeared as blue four-asterisks
