The Battle of the Brits starts on Tuesday fizzy Amazon Prime is showing it. I've been looking at the videos posted on it's twitter page. Some amusing backchat going on when the draw was made.

Boris can be a bit of a loose cannon at times Grin

PrivateSpidey · 20/06/2020 12:26

Grin remember last year (I think - I'll probably realise in a minute that it was actually five years ago or something Hmm) when Sue had to tell him off in literally the first minute of broadcast from the tournament?! Grin So funny. Love Boris - and Sue for that matter.

I'll probably have a look at the Adria tour over the weekend. If I manage to reserve the TV that is Hmm

Yes I think Jamie's tournaments starts next week doesn't it - 23rd??

Raahh that's a good point about Queens. The weather's been awful hasn't it - unless there was a micro climate around Baron's Court!

Raahh · 20/06/2020 12:26

I love our Boris . He is a loose cannon, alrightGrin.

I have missed Voice of Doom , Sue, and repeats of Eggheads. Grin.

Raahh · 20/06/2020 12:27

loose cannon x post kazza Grin

PrivateSpidey · 20/06/2020 12:31

Sorry - am totally out of sync with my replies!

I know what you mean about venturing out Raahh. I'm meeting a friend later for a socially distanced chat in the park (weather permitting) - and was planning to get a coffee/cakes for us from a cafe in town first - but now it's come to it I think I'll just go straight to the park.

I do want to support the café though - local business etc - but I don't know if I can face the queuing etc Sad

JaneJeffer · 20/06/2020 12:59

I know what you mean Private. I was going to go to Boots yesterday but there was a long queue and I couldn't face it. I met someone I used to work with as I was leaving the supermarket and we had a socially distant chat which felt like I was shouting my business to all and sundry!

The Eurosport channel has gone off now so I can't watch.

I know! That's exactly it. I was talking to a neighbour yesterday shouting across to the other side of the road! Hmm it's so strange how just that small change in behaviour just makes things feel so odd.

magimedi · 20/06/2020 14:18

We went into town, for the first time since early March, for DH to collect a new pair of glasses. That was fine & they just did it all at the door. The rest of town was pretty miserable with half the shops still shut & some with smashed windows & a lot of rubbish blowing about the streets. Won't be rushing back.

Raahh · 20/06/2020 15:05

Well, we ventured out. The queues were not so bad- M and S (which is quite large) was only letting 100 people in, in total, so was very spaced out . The food hall was busier than the clothes bit. Tesco was not so bad. But I feel like I have been out for days.

Zverev is playing shockingly bad, by all accounts and has served 12 double faults in this match so far.

Oh, he has just lost.

Raahh · 20/06/2020 15:06

Nice weather in Zadar, Croatia. Strange futuristic dome thing in the back ground (covered court?) that looks like colander.

PrivateSpidey · 20/06/2020 15:28

I saw a bit of zverev's match (TV has now been commandeered for something else) and he was still hitting loads of double faults Confused

Lol at the colander Grin

Well done on the shopping expeditions everyone. My park meet up has been postponed - really dark clouds and rain.

JaneJeffer · 20/06/2020 15:33

Not more double faults. Sascha needs to work on his serve before proper tennis starts.

I think what makes the shops so weird is that there's no children about and no cute babies to coo over. I saw four teenager girls sitting on a wall in town having a chat which was nice to see.

OP posts:
Raahh · 20/06/2020 15:47

Jane it is odd not seeing many children about. I did take dd2 to Asda the other day and felt guilty doing it. But she hadn't been out for days, (and to be honest, no one in out local Asda cares anyway). She is better at social distancing than most of the adults around, I must say.

There is precious little for the kids to do as it is. It comes to something when a boring trip to the shops counts as a treat! Grin

Fizzywinegum · 20/06/2020 15:52

No tennis for me - the football season is definitely in full swing here. DH said that I’d watched more sport than him in lockdown just because I watched about an hour of tennis last weekend Hmm. I like the sound of the colander though Grin

Well done on all the outings - everything just seems such a faff these days and needs meticulous planning (and queuing!). We wanted to get stuff for a BBQ tomorrow but there were queues everywhere. In the end I went to the local Tesco and got most things. (Hopefully the rain won’t return!)

DS2 has gone back to work at Jd Sports in town today - not sure how busy they will be. I’m picking him up later - not been in town since before lockdown. Unfortunately my taxi duties seem to have resumed Hmm

PrivateSpidey · 20/06/2020 16:14

Argh yes the queues - it's a right hassle isn't it?! We were also thinking of a barbecue this weekend but the weather's been rubbish so far.

Hope your DS got on ok Fizzy.

Poor Sascha. I really feel for players when they have problems with their serve, like their weakness is so exposed or something! I hope he can figure it out.

PrivateSpidey · 20/06/2020 16:24

Raahh you'll be disappointed to hear that the fantasy Queens tournament is pitting Rafa v Stefan Edberg in the semi final!! Shock

PrivateSpidey · 20/06/2020 16:25

Oh actually Rafa won with 60% of the vote Grin

JaneJeffer · 20/06/2020 16:26

Just as he should Grin

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 20/06/2020 16:45

Has Rafa ever actually played at Queens? Grin

magimedi · 20/06/2020 16:56

Rafa won Queens in 2008 & then went on to win Wimbledon.

Hate to tell you all that the weather here is lovely today & I've come in from the garden because it's too hot!! But we badly need rain - such rain as we have had this week has barely wetted under bigger shrubs.

Weather meant to improve greatly next week & I plan to start sea swimming.

Raahh · 20/06/2020 17:04

Private Grin

I saw on FB yesterday that somewhere was showing the Rafa/Djok Queen's final. It was his first grass win, and only his second ever match against Djok. Seems so long ago now.

I am a bit cross. Just walked the dog- the park was like blooming Blackpool Pleasure beach on a July Saturday. The locked play area had a group of a dozen teens in it, playing music, sitting on the roundabout. Needless to say, a toddler was having a tantrum because her parents wouldn't let her go in as well. Angry

Raahh · 20/06/2020 17:05

It is very hot here too, magi hence the behaviour, I think.

It's going to rain tomorrow.

Fizzywinegum · 20/06/2020 17:08

You can have some of our rain magi - I’m sure it will start again tomorrow as soon as we get the BBQ going.

The sea swimming sounds amazing - it’s supposed to be really hot next week - even in Yorkshire Shock. I really miss swimming. We have an open air swimming pool not far from us but not sure when it will reopen Sad

I thought it had been a while since Rafa was at Queens.

JaneJeffer · 20/06/2020 17:10

It's bloody freezing here Angry
