If you’ve not got anything useful to say don’t bother

SentimentalKiller · 05/04/2020 14:40

I find it useful
You may not have the same opinion Smile

JaneJeffer · 05/04/2020 14:48

I doubt you'll be welcome wherever you go Sentimental. Have some passive aggressive flowers Thanks

Just been on a walk and seen a few bears Bear

There was also a ‘hedge of Hope’ where people had pinned up rainbows and positive messages. I was thinking of putting Judy Murray’s Glasgow sign up!

Raahh · 05/04/2020 17:30

Well, I have failed to do the grass, but I have had an iffy back (that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it), so I will do it later in the week. No doubt it will rain tomorrow Grin

French idea to host domestic clay tournament in the summer of restrictions are relaxed by then.

Maybe the dream of domestic Wimbledon (Dan v Tim - or was it AC?!) lives on?

JaneJeffer · 06/04/2020 10:41

Here's hoping they will be.

I wonder how many aprons Stan owns.

I love an apron, I must say Grin

Fizzywinegum · 06/04/2020 12:08

Oh goodness stop posting those suggestive pictures of Stan with food and wine Grin. Although I prefer red to rose Stan (always up for a burger though)

Just been to do a bit of shopping for my sister - the shopping lists are getting more random - she wanted mushy peas but I didn’t manage to get any! Planning a trip to the shops these days is like planning a military operation Hmm

magimedi · 06/04/2020 13:23

"Planning a trip to the shops these days is like planning a military operation "

Too right! I'm going for my weekly shop tomorrow & know I have to sit down & think really hard for a bit first. I want to try to keep to once a week to minimise the risks.

Thank heavens the weather is better - imagine all that outside queueing in last winter's rain!

Fizzywinegum · 06/04/2020 13:53

I only went to the small Tesco magi - it felt like a smash and grab raid although I think the smaller shops are probably more stressful than the larger ones. Good luck for tomorrow.

For some reason I seem to have less time than I normally do - how can it be nearly 2pm already? Hmm

kazzaD66 · 06/04/2020 16:48

I've got to do a shop tomorrow aswell. Our usual one, plus one for my dad. After the hassle of the last shop, nearly two weeks ago, I'm starting to get a bit stressed about it Confused

magimedi · 06/04/2020 17:08

I have found the bigger the supermarket, the easier the shop is round here. Our huge Tesco is very well ordered with staff everywhere making sure there are no more than 4 people in an aisle at once. In fact it's less frantic than busy normal times.

Fizzywinegum · 06/04/2020 17:58

Good luck with the shopping all!

I’ve just heard that the BBC will be showing vintage matches during what would have been Wimbledon fortnight. It’s the 40th anniversary of Borg v Mac so hopefully they’ll show that - it’s a match that I’ve never seen.

I remember watching McEnroe and Connors play but I think Borg was even before my time!

JaneJeffer · 06/04/2020 18:12

I'd prefer the 1981 final thanks Beeb!

The Wimbledon FB channel apparently showed the Fed/Cilic match yesterday- now , I know they have a bit of a pro-Fed agenda at Wimbledon (imo), but that really is not the best match they could have chosen, Fed playing against an obviously injured opponent, in a one sided matchHmm.

I do remember my mum watching the 1980 match, she was more of a Connors fan though too.

kazzaD66 · 06/04/2020 20:11

Sorry, but I really didn't like Connors, never have, never will. Mum and I saw him play on the old No 1 Court, probably early 80's. I remember he drank cocoa cola at the changeover. None of your isotonic, individually made up drinks they have these days Grin

PrivateSpidey · 06/04/2020 21:28

Raahh it was the 2016 QF they showed on the Wimbledon channel, where Cilic went 2 sets to love up. Obviously Fed still won though Grin Perhaps they'll show the Stakhovsky match next?!

Marin has been in some great matches at Wimbledon, he was also in a really close match w Djok (think that was a Qf as well?) that he probably could have won. The final v Fed was probably his worst match there!

Although I'm still v disappointed in that early defeat when he was seeded second, was that in 2018? He's never been the same since as we've often said (although obviously that could be because of the flossing Grin).

Would love to see him make a good run at Wimbledon again. One day...

Raahh · 06/04/2020 21:38

Spidey it was the flossing that did him in. Pesky Carol and breakfast tv. Grin

And being put out on a 'lesser' court - when they were letting Serena rule the roost on centre Hmm (bitter, me?Grin)

Poor Marin- but he has a baby now, so can enjoy lockdown with his family. He is not a mother though, so he can't claim that when he comes comes back. Wink

They never mention Stakhovsky, do they? When Rafa plays, we always get the list. But not Fed. Grin

Raahh · 06/04/2020 21:40

In fact, I wouldn't put it past some wag at Wimbledon HQ to show the Rosol match.

Or the 2014 Kyrgios match- they loved that one.

JaneJeffer · 06/04/2020 22:03

Mac said last year at Wimbledon that Connors was not a nice person or words to that effect kazza.
