Grin

All those brains, and so little senseGrin.

PrivateSpidey · 30/03/2020 14:33

Grin My favourite bit was where he made it so it buzzed the whole time, except when you touched your face Grin

Good work with the boiler magi. I was thinking of your post about what your DS said, re the second week of all this being better, and I do feel a bit more "settled" this week. Hopefully it continues.

Hope your DD is ok Raahh and that you enjoyed your 80s playlist!!

Fizzy I think you should take that as a sign to stop all housework immediately!!

kazzaD66 · 30/03/2020 14:58

I was a Duranie. Saw them twice at the Brighton Centre in the 80's. Loved John Taylor Grin

Just seen a headline that it will be announced on Wednesday that Wimbledon will be cancelled this year ShockSad
Really can't deal with that.
Can't they just postpone it until the end of July, perhaps?
Yes, I know it's not important in the big scheme of things but........SadTennis

magimedi · 30/03/2020 15:09

Also saw that headline. Not enough hours of daylight to hold it end of August.

I reckon it will be the Aus Open before we see any tennis again. I don't for a moment think we will be in strict lockdown until then but I don't see large gatherings being permitted by September ( US & French Open).

PrivateSpidey · 30/03/2020 15:18

kazza I saw that headline as well Sad I cannot deal with it either!

It was suggested they wanted to have it on the planned dates or nothing, as it would be too complicated to postpone. But maybe Tim can sort it out for us?!

Raahh · 30/03/2020 15:21

Very Sad about Wimbledon , but I had been expecting it.
I don't suppose there is much choice.

PrivateSpidey · 30/03/2020 15:21

magi that has crossed my mind. I don't think the French will go ahead in September, but I think there is still hope for the US.

As for the WTFs, well apart from the fact there'll be barely any results to base it on, it's the last year for it at the O2 isn't it? before it moves to Turin. So what will they do about that?

magimedi · 30/03/2020 15:26

I think they'll keep the WTF at the O2 for another couple of years while things get back to normal after this.

Raahh · 30/03/2020 15:27

It would be really wrong for the WTFs to go ahead based on a few weeks of reuslts- even if the top 8 would probably look quite similar. I don't know how they will get round it, really, if there is no play.

If there is play from September, it gives a couple of months of results- but it still doesn't seem quite fair. Really it ought to be scrapped- it is a competition based on 12 months -ish of results. But I can't see that being popular (if events are going ahead by then).

Fizzywinegum · 30/03/2020 15:30

Sad I was expecting that about Wimbledon as well but it’s still sad Sad

I’m definitely going to get my act together and apply for Wimbledon tickets next year (fingers crossed)

I’d forgotten that it was the last year for the WTFs being held in London Spidey - not sure what they will do about that.

It’s all very strange - at the beginning of the year we weren’t sure if the Australian Open would be going ahead because of the fires and now this

Raahh · 30/03/2020 17:00

I've just seen the Olympics is moved to the 23rd July- 8th August next year.

Finishes on Fed's birthday 40th birthday, should he be able to take part Grin.

Only a week after Wimbledon, (if dates are similar to most years) so not a huge turnaround for tennis players planning to take part.

Fizzywinegum · 31/03/2020 09:51

Morning all - hope everyone is well.

It looks as if the announcement to cancel Wimbledon will be made tomorrow. I’m still holding out for a Dan Evans/Kyle Edmund final in Tim’s underground car park but don’t think that will really happen Grin

According to the Guardian everyone is still pissed off with the French Open and their unilateral decision to reschedule for September.

I’ve already done some yoga and washed my hair which is an improvement on yesterday - hmm what to do with the rest of the day ...

JaneJeffer · 31/03/2020 10:11

Sad I'm not looking forward to that announcement.

PrivateSpidey · 31/03/2020 10:28

Ah feck it. If Wimbledon is cancelled (cancelled?! How is this possible? What is this awful parallel universe?) then I'm really going to be depressed.

Craig Tiley (Aus Open director) reckons there could be no tennis for the rest of the year! Sad He said (as we said on here ages ago Hmm) because tennis involves global travel it'll take longer to return to normal than other sports.

So a domestic Wimbledon competition should be a go. You should have put a bet on Dan Evans Jane Grin

JaneJeffer · 31/03/2020 10:56

It's just going to be Tim v Dan at this rate!

I see the Empire State Building has gone full on Gotham City

OP posts:
Raahh · 31/03/2020 11:08

Dan will need a sponsor. Will he be able to get his t-shirts from Tesco Express in these difficult times?

Fizzywinegum · 31/03/2020 11:54

He might be restricted to one t shirt Raahh Grin

Did you get your shopping done magi? I’ve just been to our local Tesco Express - it wasn’t too bad but still no pasta!

magimedi · 31/03/2020 12:01

Morning!

Started the day by cutting DH's hair eeeeeeekkk!! Just the sides & didn't do too bad a job of it.

Went to Tesco (big one) & all was v civilised. Queued for about 10 mins, trolley sanitised, only 4 people in an aisle at one time & everyone being very good about distancing. Got everything I wanted - all the fruit & veg, loo roll (my first buy of that for 6 weeks), meat, coffee, cheese, eggs & Gin. Drove home the 'back' way & saw the sea which made me v happy. Feel as if I've done a day's work so a snooze after lunch, I think!

magimedi · 31/03/2020 12:02

PS No pasta, flour or rice but I didn't need any.

PrivateSpidey · 31/03/2020 12:02

Tim v Dan - I would genuinely be v excited to watch that right now.

Yes I wonder if t-shirts are classed as "essential items"?!

PrivateSpidey · 31/03/2020 12:04

Good news about the shopping magi

And the sighting of the sea! Sounds lovely.

magimedi · 31/03/2020 12:09

Just read this on another thread & thought it was worth sharing:

No Tennis? You can not be serious!
kazzaD66 · 31/03/2020 12:34

Very true magi
Glad you had a civilised and successful shop, including the GinWink

Also just read about Wimbledon.
I really don't want to think about it Sad

Dan vs Kyle in Tim's underground car park sounds great, at the moment! I bet Dan's kicking himself even more now for being a prat! His comeback streak has been cut down in it's prime.

GBBO tonight with James Blunt, so something to look forward to Grin
Also looks like Alex Jones has an exploding electric mixer Confused
Cake

Fizzywinegum · 31/03/2020 12:42

That’s a good way of looking it at magi Smile. Glad that you got to see the sea and you got Gin - an essential item!

Just seen Roger Federer on sky sports news practising trick shots in a very snowy Switzerland

I’ve hidden the sausages that I bought earlier - DS2 has been having them every day for his breakfast/lunch for the last week Shock. I feel a bit mean but he can have something else for a change.
