Just seen that my post was 999, so though I should open a new one. Not meaning to tread on anyone's toes - except Gary/Ryan/Geoff etc.

OP posts:

Did anyone think aldi was just weird? I know he's a new actor and is supposed to appear older, but he didn't 'say' anything. It was just, weird.
Looks like Asda has a big storyline coming but because the episodes are spaced out it seems very slow!!

scaryreading · 16/04/2020 19:31

You would have thought the pensioners would have dived on the free food and drink at Ken's soirée

Mollypolly2610 · 16/04/2020 23:24

@Mairyhinge

Loving your supermarket references

CoolShoeshine · 17/04/2020 04:07

The previous Aadi actor was very wooden and didn’t say much at all so perhaps the new actor has been told to do the same for a bit so that the audience don’t notice the difference! Grin

TheSquitz · 17/04/2020 05:33

Mollypolly2610 I'm afraid Mairyhinge can't take the credit for Asda and Aldi. It's what Eva's grandma (Gloria?) used to call them!

MrsEsss · 17/04/2020 10:00

I'm another one who fast forwards through Gemma's scenes. I thought I was just heartless not being able to find sympathy for her but I see it's a common feeling. I can't stand her whiney voice, her hanging-open mouth and her chomping like a cow. I felt so sorry for Aled when he got his hearing aid knowing that he'd now be able to hear Gemma's voice. The silence must have been golden for him. She and Chesney are awful, awful characters, and the quads storyline is ridiculous and unsustainable.

MrsEsss · 17/04/2020 10:03

But the domestic abuse story between Geoff and Yasmeen is difficult to watch for all the right reasons. They've done a really good job with that story and I'll be relieved but also sorry when it's over because it's gripped me.

Roussette · 17/04/2020 11:34

I wonder how the writers will sort out the Gemma/Ches/Quads storyline. If I was one of the actors, I would imagine I'd be written out in the not too distant future.
There surely isn't going to be 4 toddlers running around.

eggandonion · 17/04/2020 11:48

They will be left a large amount of money and knock two houses into one, with a huge attic conversion. They will be there for ever.
My dh likes them, God knows why.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 17/04/2020 12:39

TheSquitz I think Corrie watching Mumsnetters were calling them Aldi and Asda long before Gloria did —cos Corrie writers read this thread—

thenightsky · 17/04/2020 12:54

ColonelNobbyNobbs I agree. Mumsnetters used Asda and Aldi way before the Corrie writers picked up on it.

TheSquitz · 17/04/2020 14:08

Ooh I stand corrected! Grin

nildesparandum · 17/04/2020 19:43

I have said this loads of times on here and I know it is only a soap and not a true story, but I cannot stand Gemma
I don't know if it is the way actress acts the part ,or what the producers tell her to how act the character but I switch it off or leave the room whenever her miserable gormless face and shouty voice comes on.
Chesney is not much better with his miserable face either. He used to be a very good child actor but now he is just a bore.
Please get rid of them , plus the quads. Just let them win a lot of money and go live somewhere else as long as it is far away from Coronation Street

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 17/04/2020 19:45

Last time I called the police about a noisy party they told me it was a civil matter. I'm guessing the Wetherfield swat team will be arriving at Amy's anytime.

And they show up as I type..

eggandonion · 17/04/2020 19:52

Craig must sort it...

TheSquitz · 17/04/2020 20:01

Peter's comment that Tracy's idea of a teenage party was pressing play on her tape recorder made me laugh!

PinkDaydreams · 17/04/2020 20:48

I think Tracy is so rude! I’ve never really noticed it but the way she’s been speaking to people lately is terrible!

PinkDaydreams · 17/04/2020 20:49

Has the skin lightening story been forgotten about now?

Roussette · 18/04/2020 07:34

I think so, the viral video has taken over.

Just remind me... Yasmeen is in Spain at the wedding. Is Geoff? I need this storyline back, I'm forgetting it already!

TheSquitz · 18/04/2020 07:51

Yasmeen didn't go to Spain in the end. She packed a case and went to Aliya's but then changed her mind.

Roussette · 18/04/2020 08:04

So she's where?! Corrie is becoming worse and worse at leaving storylines hanging, people who pop to the bathroom and don't come back for 3 years etc!

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 18/04/2020 10:15

It's really not helping hat they've stretched the episodes to three a week.
They were designed to play right after each other, not days apart, that party lasted 3 days. It'll be Easter in Corrie around September time.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 18/04/2020 13:12

Not a great episode but did give me an easy in to talk to my boys (oldest just a teenager) about what Asha and Cory were doing and how it could all go wrong even if both were consenting, without it being preachy. Hope Yasmeen is ok.

eggandonion · 18/04/2020 13:28

The teen pregnancy stories are handy too, we must be due another one soon.

BakedCam · 18/04/2020 14:06

Ken and Claud looked like they were in strait jackets.
