Just seen that my post was 999, so though I should open a new one. Not meaning to tread on anyone's toes - except Gary/Ryan/Geoff etc.

I want to know about Tim's mum

Tana433 · 09/04/2020 11:43

Well, what a bloody depressing episode that was! Cheered me right up, thanks Corrie!

Optimist1 · 09/04/2020 11:45

Does anyone else think the big secret meet up with the police officers was a massive damp squib?

No, I thought it was one more of the "here she goes, she's going to get out of this relationship" moments, followed by "oh no, she hasn't" which as I understand it is fairly accurate for victims of DV.

ellenanora5 · 09/04/2020 12:12

Colonel yep I think you're right about Tina and Gail now that I think about it.

When Gemma was chomping down those biscuits I wanted to thump her, it was disgusting.

The scene with the police and Yasmeen was pointless.

ajandjjmum · 09/04/2020 13:00

I suppose the scene was a damp squib - and yet it gets us all feeling so frustrated with Yazmeen - which is how I suppose the friends of real abuse victims must feel.

Like Aliyah stomping off saying 'actually, this time, I will say I told you so?' - or something similar.

Quite clever writing though, if it's putting us in the mindset of 'friend' of Yazmeen.

OP posts:
ajandjjmum · 09/04/2020 13:49

Just seen that the actor who plays Yazmeen has given an interview -

'The 64-year-old star's character Yasmeen Metcalfe has been psychologically abused by her husband, Geoff Metcalfe - played by Ian Bartholomew - for months, and while some viewers have found it too tough to watch, she insisted the plot needs to be "uncomfortable" to portray the "horrible situation" realistically.'

They are doing it very realistically. I’ve had issues with some of the portrayal early on in the story but they’re getting it right now. I agree I think they are putting us the viewer in the position of the “frustrated friend/family member”.

Anyone else wondering how on earth Gemma manages to get on the bus with the quads' buggy? I know they can fit wheelchairs and standard-sized buggies, but wouldn't the extra height be a problem? Confused

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 09/04/2020 15:23

Yes I actually thought that was going to be the issue. I thought she would try and get on the bus and struggle/get stuck and completely breakdown.

Clawdy · 09/04/2020 17:04

There's no way anyone with quads would get on a bus without lots of help. Twins would be a struggle, let alone four.

eggandonion · 09/04/2020 17:12

Why did they continue with the quads as a story? Twins would have been complicated enough to manage. The pram is amazing though.

eddiemairswife · 09/04/2020 17:20

Perhaps Gemma could give a couple of them away 'to a good home'. Seriously, it's a ridiculous story line. And I would have thought she would have been given a lot more help through the doctor or health visitor.

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 09/04/2020 17:25

Have they even put up the tamba or other multiple birth support groups helpline number after any episodes?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 09/04/2020 17:32

Yeh the quads storyline will get extra complicated when they become toddlers. I already think it’s highly unbelievable Gemma has time to hold a conversation, do any washing up whilst breastfeeding 4 babies.

TheSquitz · 09/04/2020 17:41

Never mind Gemma being annoying, how gormless is Chesney?

Spam88 · 09/04/2020 19:06

Gemma definitely has too much free time and the house is too quiet - I've only got one baby and there's more crying here.

Clawdy · 09/04/2020 19:35

Gemma is breastfeeding?? Didn't know that.

NCTDN · 09/04/2020 22:19

Has anyone seen the photos today of imran with his shaved head? He looks much nicer!

thenightsky · 09/04/2020 22:37

Gemma's forever going on about having to pump, so I assumed that meant she was breastfeeding.

PorpentinaScamander · 09/04/2020 22:39

I think she mentioned breastfeeding once or twice because I remember being amazed that she was.

Redshoeblueshoe · 09/04/2020 22:56

I saw the photos of Imran. I wouldn't have recognised him Shock

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 09/04/2020 23:49

Me neither! He looks so different.

TheSquitz · 10/04/2020 09:45

Prefer him with hair, although obviously he'd still get it.

Dieu · 10/04/2020 09:54

Gemma lacks the emotional maturity, intelligence and resourcefulness to cope with 4 babies. To be fair, it would be a hard enough shift for anyone.
I felt so sorry for Emma at the vet's. Their shittiness towards her was so completely unjustified.

Dieu · 10/04/2020 09:55

The family's shittiness, that is, not the vet's.
