Just seen that my post was 999, so though I should open a new one. Not meaning to tread on anyone's toes - except Gary/Ryan/Geoff etc.

OP posts:

Eccles must be at least 14. Blanche inherited him from a friend then left him to Ken in her will . His character would not leave him

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 13/03/2020 20:50

Oh, I dunno. you know sometimes Corrie gets this Geoff/coercive control stuff bang on and do it really well. And then they do stuff like tonight and make it seem like a pantomime. Yasmeen might as well have said “oh I’ve been such a good girl doing my shopping- can I have a gold star?”

woodhill · 13/03/2020 21:05

She's desperate for his approval.

Where is Tim. Doesn't he know what he is like.

Roussette · 13/03/2020 21:19

Eccles is ancient! But we had a dog who lived till 17.5 years old!

Tim is a useless character... surely he';d have had a pretty awful childhood???

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 13/03/2020 21:32

Has it ever been said what kind of relationship Tim had with his Dad when he was young?

Roussette · 13/03/2020 21:33

Well... Geoff is vile... there's no doubt he'd have been a horrible dad!

TheSquitz · 13/03/2020 21:46

What happened to the Kel storyline? That was dropped without a trace Confused

bullyingadvice2017 · 13/03/2020 22:04

Years ago, im sure Ken and dierdrie at the time. Sold their house to a rent back compony when they had Tracey in prison to pay for lawyers.

Have I made this up?

bullyingadvice2017 · 13/03/2020 22:06

Also I rewatched the 1st happy vally recently and the drunk guy on the opening scene trying to set himself on fire is a very young Dr Ali.

Clawdy · 13/03/2020 22:10

I actually thought tonight's episode was well written in parts - the low-key farewell scene for Ali and Ryan, and the Aliya and Yasmeen scene comparing Geoff and Yasmeen's husband. "He says he loves me every day...." Hmm

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 13/03/2020 22:24

I was amazed they didn’t have a send off for ken in the rovers! He’s lived there for 80 years!!

Clawdy · 13/03/2020 22:28

But he isn't moving far, I suppose.

WaterIsWide · 13/03/2020 22:34

Yes, the re-mortgaged to find the money for Tracey's bail.

Honeyroar · 13/03/2020 22:41

Eccles was the best actor on set tonight! Ken would never leave her behind. And he’d never be with that woman.

Redshoeblueshoe · 13/03/2020 23:47

I thought there were a few good things tonight.
Alia is realising the bigger picture, and I think it made Yasmeen think. I just wish Alia asked Yasmeen why was she crying in the garden.
I like Nina/Roy/Carla

Redshoeblueshoe · 13/03/2020 23:52

And I did think Ken was dead when Tracy went in.
I think Ken would actually have some say in what happens.
He is the longest serving actor, in the longest soap in the world. He should get to choose what happens to his character. I doubt he would want to miss the 60th anniversary show.

CoolShoeshine · 14/03/2020 07:01

Actually that would have been a really nice end to Ken if he’d have peacefully passed away in his armchair in the house he loves with Eccles on his lap, listening to Madam Butterfly.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 14/03/2020 10:12

Does anyone else have a feeling ken will be back in number 1 before long? I don’t think it will work out with him and Claudia.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 14/03/2020 10:49

Not sure about ken at the moment. I'm half thinking it's the makers of Corrie giving the actor a semi retirement. Pack him off, lower his workload, let him pop up every now and then but still pay him £500k a year.

AsAnActualWoman · 14/03/2020 12:19

How could he leave that sweet dog? I agree @CoolShoeshine that would have been a good way to go, his link to the past acknowledged with little Eccles.
They're probably not killing him off so he can come back if he wants to. He's getting very old so probably has chosen to go.

I could swear that the writers have been reading the MN relationship board, Geoff's tactics to call her family abusive and change history are spot on.

SapatSea · 14/03/2020 12:29

The money from the house won't last long in "Still Waters" what will he do then, move to a council funded place?

Honeyroar · 14/03/2020 12:44

Still waters makes me think of a stagnant pond surrounded by midges.

SapatSea · 14/03/2020 12:54

Grin it does Honeyroar

Retirement apartments built near me in the 90's were called Sunset Court, they changed it after about year when people pointed out the implication.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 14/03/2020 13:53

They’re working with women’s aid for this storyline so they’ll have loads of real life experience to base his behaviour on.

nildesparandum · 14/03/2020 14:03

How long before Ali ''comes back''.
What sudden high powered position is Toyah heading for?
