Changed the name of this thread as we were very upset with the ending of series 3 out in Bangladesh! Waiting out for news of series 4 and hoping it might not be long now. In the meantime, we are reviewing the seven series of Soldier Soldier.

Just read the article. Maybe she's gleaned some of her ideas from our constant musings!

I know the director in the first (and second?) series was Anthony Phillipson and I see his name appears again in this one but was it somebody different in the last disastrous series?

How's everyone coping so far with the current situation?

I've just had a look at the directors involved Ilove and found it quite surprising. Anthony Pillipson directed episodes 1 and 2 of series 1. Did not direct any of series 2 or 3 and at present is listed for the first three episodes of this current one. He may of course be director for the next three but at present they don't show that on the website I looked at.

Series 2 had one director whose name I have forgotten already! Series 3 believe it or not had seven different directors. No wonder it was such a muddle 😳

Hi Kazza glad you are still keeping track of Our Girl and obviously feel the same about the disaster that was series 3. I wondered if you had seen that Itsembarrassing has reposted "It's Happening Again" having completed it. I am hoping this means perhaps she'll feel able do the same with "Already Gone" and maybe even repost "Invincible". I just love her stories.

Yes magi I was sooo happy when I saw itsembarrassing pop up. She is one of my favourite ff writers and her stories really are fantastic! I would love it if she reposted her other stories but I won't hold my breath Invincible is brilliant and I miss rereading her stories from time to time.

Haven't watched the new series yet, although I have recorded it. Frankly, I only watched the last series for CJ /BA. Reading comments on SM, I can't believe no mention has been made of CJ, Brains and the other missing characters or the jump itself - is that right? I may fast forward through the whole thing once the series has finished but tbh, Lane just annoys me immensely now. How she has been promoted again is beyond me. Given her complete and continual insubordination, she should have been demoted. It's not very realistic in that regard. Yes, I know it's not real....but there's artistic license and then there's complete bollocks

Anyway, enough of my rantings for now

Tense stuff! Yes, so much like series 1...and all the better for it. Never thought I'd like Fingers so much. Lump in the throat there at the end especially with the "to be continued....".

Liked Lt Hurst talking about the curse of following in the footsteps of greatness...just a little nod to CJ, I think

I’m praying that Fingers pulls through but I have a horrid feeling they are going to kill him off He’s an original isn’t he? I love him and Monk.

Also think they could have shot the tires on the truck rather than blow it up killing the new dad.

eejit I was wondering about Fingers too - all the fuss about his delayed honeymoon, skyping Marie etc. I hope he makes it.

I love Blue! He has some fantastic lines - I also liked the rehash of his Lawrence of Arabia lines from the last series.

I'm really not sure that Georgie could cope with another loss in her life, if Fingers doesn't make it. I'm sure it would finish her off altogether. Surely, that must be a step too far.

I'm having my daily dose of coronavirus update and seeing how Boris is doing now! We need Boris to see us all through this chaos.

I might watch this latest episode again afterwards. There are one or two things I didn't quite understand and hoping a second viewing might clear it up for me.

The way they built up Fingers throughout that episode, comforting Georgie, talking about his honeymoon, Skyping his wife etc makes me think he really is dead

Just seen a post on FB with a link to an interview with TG. I've no idea how to link it here but it's on the BBC Writers Room page, I believe. In it, he says that the actors mooted the idea of a relationship between CJ and Lane. Presume he's talking about BA and MK but that contradicts what BA said a couple of years ago

TG also says that the relationship was a mistake, it was a one off that they both immediately regretted. They both wanted to be with other people - Molly and Elvis - but they were both suffering from PTSD. Apart from CJ calling for Molly a couple of times when Lane was tending to him in the broccoli jungle, why was this not more explicitly played out in the last series? We would have forgiven TG for the car crash and apparent character assassination of CJ if he had made this all a bit more obvious!

Do you think he could get round to admitting it was a mistake to kill Elvis and that the relationship could have continued through Skype and texts and conversations like she’s had with Fingers and Blue - and even Bones in a parallel universe; would that be cauliflower?

I agree Kazza that a previous interview with BA suggested the Georgie/CJ relationship came as a bit of a surprise, and that they had only joked about it before - echoes of "he likes a medic!". I know we were all really annoyed and saddened about the one-off in Bangladesh, but the fact that we all immediately felt it was so wrong, probably means we could see what was going wrong with the pair of them, even if it wasn't verbally acknowledged. Mind you, now time has moved on a bit, I'd really like to hear Georgie say something about it, even if it's acknowledgement of the mistake she made. It's almost as if she never met CJ at all, let alone did the deed!
