Changed the name of this thread as we were very upset with the ending of series 3 out in Bangladesh! Waiting out for news of series 4 and hoping it might not be long now. In the meantime, we are reviewing the seven series of Soldier Soldier.

Whoops - so the doctor has been abducted and now Poya has been shot. Someone we suspected that anything involving Georgie would go awry. Seriously, you'd think her superiors would be asking questions about why it all ends up badly when she's there. It's no surprise that she's had to become such a good medic.

Delphin · 02/04/2020 22:00

"Her emotional involvement makes unpleasant listening, Mr Hurst. "
That doesn't sound good for next week.

Delphin · 02/04/2020 22:01

"It's no surprise that she's had to become such a good medic."

Ouch!

Rhubarb01 · 02/04/2020 22:02

Ha ha ilove I can't imagine Dr Sadie doing very well at all. She'd have asked Dave to do some improvisation whilst she ran off to get her white coat.

eejittwo · 02/04/2020 22:03

Still behind - but is there a clue in that Georgie tucked the big watch into th pouch in the back of the driver's seat? REmember the signalling dvice Elvis attached to the car in Kenya, and the one that was found in the burned-out shack in the middle of the broccoli. Just asking ...

SavageBeauty73 · 02/04/2020 22:04

Didn't Georgie sleep with a translator and Capt J in the last series? They've completely written it out..

The new dr is hot

Ilovelblue · 02/04/2020 22:08

Savage the guy in Nepal (Milan I seem to recall his name was) worked for one of the NGOs. He was a creep. God knows what she saw in him. And yes, she did sleep with CJ too, much to our disgust.

OP posts:
Delphin · 02/04/2020 22:08

@eejittwo: You might be onto something there.

@SavageBeauty73: The ""translator" was a Nepali NGO type, but yes, she had a thing with both of them in S3.

Ilovelblue · 02/04/2020 22:09

Ooooh eejit, I must have blinked through the watch being hidden. Good thinking!

OP posts:
eejittwo · 02/04/2020 22:11

Actually, the Nepali guy was such a creep, I thought HE was the baddie to begin with. Was also a bit worried about him and the kids - was wrong about that too ...

Delphin · 02/04/2020 22:16

So, onto the next week...
I wonder whether Georgie will get into hot water (worrying comment there by the Brigadier in the preview).

eejittwo · 02/04/2020 22:16

I haven't even got to the shoot-out yet. I'm giving up for now. Talk to you later, ladies.

Delphin · 02/04/2020 22:17

Off to bed now (23.15 here ;-) ). Night, and see you later.

Rhubarb01 · 02/04/2020 22:19

Goodnight Delphin thanks for your company. Stay safe!

SavageBeauty73 · 02/04/2020 22:21

Yes he was creepy. When the house fell on them I was hoping he would be killed.

Would the Prof be allowed to wear glasses?

Rhubarb01 · 02/04/2020 22:23

Well no doubt next week Georgie will have a plan to recover the good doctor and will persuade everyone that it is essential she is involved in formulating the plan of attack/negotiates with the kidnappers/leads the section into action whilst heavily disguised and vaccinates any local kids at the same time

Seriously, I imagine they will go on a mission to find the doctor and it might end a bit messily.

Rhubarb01 · 02/04/2020 22:25

Savage I actually wondered about the glasses too. Perhaps you don't need perfect vision for the army - maybe it's only RAF pilots who need it.

Ilovelblue · 02/04/2020 22:39

Rhu and Savage - I thought about the glasses on Prof last week. Am sure they could be a real hindrance in times of conflict - like tonight! Mind you, I think anyone wanting to join the police couldn't wear glasses at one time but that seems to have been relaxed now.

Magi84 · 03/04/2020 08:29

Well that proved to be a really good watchalong. You were all on god form and I Really did see some things in a different way from the things you said. Certainly particularly God exercise in times of isolation.

eejit you should be a detective. The watch it seems is vital. I have just read a synopsis for episode 3 and it seems they can track the vehicle because of the watch! Miss Marple in our midst.

Loved your comments about "creepy" Milan - could never understand that little episode with Georgie and him (didn't seem her type at all - slightly worse than Dr Dull if that's possible). Actually saw the actor who played Milan in Split - just as creepy in a different way. Must be his chosen acting style. Grim.

I wonder too about Prof wearing those glasses.

Thinking about Kingy's role in this and I think he has definitely stepped up to the plate. Probably of course because they've been landed with a bit of a dipstick Lieutenant. Mind you all the watching of Soldier Soldier has made us realise the sergeant really is the kingpin of a section or platoon.

I think we are probably all enjoying this series better so far even without our normal yearning to see CJ. Probably as Rhu said because we know he has gone of back to Molly. Still feel someone would have mentioned him by now, if not Fingers, then surely Kingy. Roll on next week.

Magi84 · 03/04/2020 08:31

I am not sure quoting God when I mean good is the right way to go. Sorry. Fat fingers.

eejittwo · 05/04/2020 12:09

I think the woman writing this review (about halfway through the article) should join this thread - or maybe she already has. She seems to share our healthy scepticism about Georgie's abilities. Grin

eejittwo · 05/04/2020 17:49

Just re-reading the comments and Savage, I was wondering if Elvis was going to come to the rescue at that point ...
Never did get why Elvis had to change (he said he had, in the hospital after they got back to Kabul in 3:4) when it was quite obvious that it was Georgie who had to change. Exactly how many times did he have to save her life and she never, ever said thank you?

Rhubarb01 · 05/04/2020 17:59

That reviewer may well be right eejit but personally I love a bit of guns and roses - it's worked pretty well until now [grin}

Rhubarb01 · 05/04/2020 18:00

Grin Grin and a drop of Wine to blame. Been a long day....and I've been working!
