Do you still love 'The Thick of It' (BBC) as much as I do?!

I love watching The Thick of it over and over and over again! Does anyone else?!

My favourite character is Julius Nicholson closely followed by Glenn Cullen.
One of my favourite Julius scenes is when he is feeding the ducks with Steve Fleming. One of my favourite Glenn scenes is when he completely loses it (justifiably) with the coalition and says 'I will lamp you with a lamp'!
I just love this show so much, it never fails to make me laugh and picks me up when I'm down!

Yes! I often rewatch when I’m feeling down, you’d think it wouldn’t be cheering but it really is!

NameChangeNugget · 31/12/2019 15:56

Yes! Utterly brilliant Grin

berkshirecat · 31/12/2019 16:00

Yes, although having worked in politics it can also make uncomfortable watching!

Aberforthsgoat · 31/12/2019 16:01

I love malcolm tucker

Dipsydoodle · 31/12/2019 16:03

Yes!! I've watched it so many times and every time I laugh my head off. What is this? Tinker, tailor, soldier, CUNT?

Dipsydoodle · 31/12/2019 16:04

Oh and shoutout to Tim in fucking Ruislip

TheCrowFromBelow · 31/12/2019 16:07

DP and I watched "In the Loop" a few nights ago, I'd forgotten how funny it was. Same cast in slightly different roles, (Julius is Jonathan Tutt, British Ambassador) with Malcolm Tucker as his usual self. Glorious.
Love The Thick of It as well.

claracluck78 · 31/12/2019 16:08

I've been hoping for a new episode ever since the referendum.

I'd love to know what Malcolm would have made of brexit.

Muddlingalongalone · 31/12/2019 16:12

I've just watched this for the first time & loved it!

PurpleBee39 · 31/12/2019 16:43

Yay! I’m so glad I’m not alone!

I wish they would make some new episodes.

I love the early episodes especially with Hugh Abbot being ambushed by the welsh lady who’s ‘mother’s piss’ she keeps having to clean up!

Come the fuck in or fuck the fuck off!

Aberforthsgoat · 31/12/2019 23:45

“A face like dot cotton licking piss off a nettle”

I love the Nicola Murray episodes as well.

I might watch it now while I’m bf-Ing DS into the early hours! Thanks OP for the inspiration.

grafittiartist · 31/12/2019 23:52

Wonderful program!!
I found Jamie a bit much- as sweary as tucker but without the wit.
My favourite bit is peter mansion going off fur a twix! Don't know why.

PurpleBee39 · 01/01/2020 00:54

Happy New year to you all! I have really enjoyed reading your posts.

@grafittiartist - I feel the same about Jamie, no humour in his character just nastiness.
That Peter M line is great, I really like his character too. I love the bit where Glenn says to him after his epic rant 'and Peter, I hope your cock falls off'.
@redexpat & @Aberforthsgoat - I love those lines too!
Glenn has some of the best lines, like when he is packing his stuff up and about to go and hand himself in at the police station after the enquiry saying something like 'I'll have 3 meals a day, I might work out, get some abs and regular sex' !

Malcolm Tucker is my spirit animal.
I adore him.

StraightenUpAndFryRight · 01/01/2020 12:36

That bit at the end on the stairs where Malcolm is telling Glenn to leave hits me in the gut.

ILookAtTheFloor · 01/01/2020 15:08

Spinners and Losers is absolutely genius, perfection. I think the whole programme is underrated--like the OP I've watched it countless times and still laugh my head off.

"You're so back bench you've fallen off, out by the bins where I put you" is my fave lineGrin

"You've got a tiny head, see, you're shaking it now and I can't even see it"

mousemousse · 01/01/2020 15:14

Yes love it although the hugh Abbott series makes me feel uncomfortable because of the Chris langham's conviction as a peadophile

Aberforthsgoat · 01/01/2020 16:29

@mousemousse I know what you mean. There’s also a line where he describes himself as “looking like a disgraced geography teacher” in a picture which is uncomfortably close to the bone...

NYmeh · 01/01/2020 17:41

I love it OP! I agree- a new series would be awesome! My favourite bit is Glenn's meltdown when he's shouting "I'm a man!"

PaperbackBlighter · 01/01/2020 17:44

My New Years resolution is to be more Malcolm Tucker.

Ohyesiam · 01/01/2020 17:49

I love it , and I find it almost hard to watch sometimes. They are all so deadened and un human.
But for the insults alone it is the best programme ever made.
DH and I often tell each other to Come the fuck in or fuck the fuck off.

NumbersStation · 01/01/2020 17:53

You are speaking shite @PaperbackBlighter Grin

There wasn’t one swear word in that resolution. Not one Wink Plenty days to get that right yet though Grin

If they come out with a Brexit series I will resurrect a previous name or two. There are plenty bastard swear words in them. Halo

Lottapianos · 01/01/2020 17:53

'What is this? Tinker, tailor, soldier, CUNT?'

Grin Easily one of my favourite lines too

It's one of my favourite programs of all time. Just perfection. The relentless swearing makes me SO HAPPY. Glorious writing

NumbersStation · 01/01/2020 17:55

Stop using my name in vain @Lottapianos

It isn’t time for my resurrection just yet!
