Do you still love 'The Thick of It' (BBC) as much as I do?!

I love watching The Thick of it over and over and over again! Does anyone else?!

My favourite character is Julius Nicholson closely followed by Glenn Cullen.
One of my favourite Julius scenes is when he is feeding the ducks with Steve Fleming. One of my favourite Glenn scenes is when he completely loses it (justifiably) with the coalition and says 'I will lamp you with a lamp'!
I just love this show so much, it never fails to make me laugh and picks me up when I'm down!

“Was it a chrome kettle?”
“Oh I see you’ve been watching CSI again Phil”

I love this show so much. I constantly rewatch it. My favourite character is Terri. I love her. “You’re like a Sultana in a salad”

I've found my people. Up with the west wing as my favourite tv show. I've only watched it in full twice but feel a third watch coming on now thanks to this thread.

TinselTitsMcTree · 04/01/2020 22:46

Still find new things to laugh at each time I watch it. Just having a giggle at the way Jamie says "I'll make sure to action that" in response to the note* he's passed by Malcolm in the meeting with Julius Grin

*please could you take this note, ram it up his hairy inbox and pin it to his fucking prostrate

@Andylion - I'm glad you managed to find it on iTunes in the end. I'm very lucky having access to it on Netflix, I hope it's on there forever. I also have it on DVD as a back up just in case!

@TinselTitsMcTree - That episode is pure gold!

@VesperLindt - Awesome one liners!

@ Teachermaths - I love Glenn's meltdowns so much. At the beginning he is literally in the thick of it all then as the series' go on he is hanging by a thread, poor Glenn! He gets well and truly Tuckered!

@googleyourheartout - I find each time I watch it I pick up little treats I've missed before!

@EoinMcLovesCakeJumper - Ha! There is no end to piss woman's talents!

Rewatching yet again. I always seem to spot something new.
I used to work in Whitehall and it gets a bit close to the bone sometimes!

TinselTitsMcTree · 05/01/2020 10:17

We need to start a petition to bring it back. I think the country needs it right now!

PurpleBee39 · 05/01/2020 11:42

@TinselTitsMcTree - A petition sounds like a great idea! Armando Iannucci really needs to know how much we love it and how much it is missed. Also why not some kind of spin off?!

ITS THE ECONOMY STEWPOT!!

DarlingNikita · 05/01/2020 17:07

Armando Iannucci is on record as saying he couldn’t write any more because real politics has now gone so far beyond any parody he could come up with. Which is sad but a fair point!

MargotsBumpyNight · 05/01/2020 17:32

Every birthday I am secretly hoping for a 'cunt' cake Grin

Aberforthsgoat · 05/01/2020 18:34

Ha excellent @MargotsBumpyNight
I’m watching it right now
The episode where Malcolm punches Glen. John Duggan is hilariously inept

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 05/01/2020 18:40

Thank you for this thread OP - you've inspired me to watch it all again. I missed loads of it first time round as my children were young at the time and it was probably on too late for me, or I didn't prioritise sitting down to watch TV consistently.

Just finished the first series (only 3 episodes!) and pmsl all the way through. And also reminded me that a good friend of ours had a part in it! Grin.

StraightenUpAndFryRight · 05/01/2020 19:14

It doesn’t even have to be good, I would just find Malcolm Tucker ranting about Brexit really cathartic.

FatherRabulaConundrum · 05/01/2020 21:15

I love it all. We still refer to 'good biscuits' in that slightly hurt Julius voice. And semi-feral Jamie ('I thought you were the nice Scot!') is such an underrated character, with those flashes of random like his passion for Al Jolson, and his whole wild-eyed 'Are you a horse? Are you a fucking horse?!' rant in the back of the taxi with tiny-headed Geoff.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 08/01/2020 21:56

I was never that keen on Jamie but I just rewatched Spinners and Losers and he calls Julius a "mimsy bastard quisling leak fuck". So he's gone up in my character ranking now.

For some reason, I always lose it when Malcolm says to Ollie "What is it, the little man in the red and yellow car?" No swearing but very subtly diminishing Grin

PurpleBee39 · 10/01/2020 10:37

Spinners and losers is a master piece!

I was watching series 4, episode 4 & 5 last night in the early hours. Nicola is being pushed out by Malcolm. She's trying to hang on by calling round various colleagues. The bit where she is out of breath and running up the ramp at the train station! Classic!
Malcolm shows his genius by playing blinky Ben and forcing both him and Nicola to resign!
