Here you go

OP posts:
thenightsky · 23/12/2019 14:51

When I was growing up here in Lancashire in the1970s (only about 25 miles from where Corrie was filmed) it was normal to get a slap on the back of the legs, or a belt around the head from parents.

Same in Yorkshire (1960s/70s). We used to talk about it in the playground and ask each other... 'which do you get, the belt, the slipper or the hand?'

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 23/12/2019 15:25

Oh well, thenightsky, you had it worse than I did!

I never got anything other than the hand.

thenightsky · 23/12/2019 15:32

Hand for me too. My best mate over the road got her dad's belt

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 23/12/2019 16:51

When I said a 'belt' around the head, I meant a slap, of course! Not an actual leather belt!

Belt is just a word we Northerners use to describe a slap or a smack.

Disappointed they aren't showing CC all Christmas week ☹

It's become my little treat to watch five hours of Classic Corrie on a Saturday afternoon!

SapatSea · 23/12/2019 18:01

Sad My treat too, I get up before everyone and watch the recorded ones from the day before with my coffee in peace and quiet, so cosy.

justthecat · 23/12/2019 20:06

I watch mine in peace before my youngest gets in from school

Ontheboardwalk · 24/12/2019 00:22

What’s happened to the rest of the episodes? I can’t see them in my planner

x2boys · 24/12/2019 09:00

Im.assuming they are not on because of Xmas @Ontheboardwalk? I seem to remember they didn't show over last Xmas either .

Ontheboardwalk · 24/12/2019 10:55

x2boys that makes sense, not sure how many people will be watching the Carry on films they’ve got running in the morning slot tho!

ConfCall · 24/12/2019 23:48

So annoying that they’ve stopped for Christmas!

ConfCall · 26/12/2019 15:03

Back to normal next Thursday (2nd January) 👍

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 31/12/2019 16:17

Just asking your opinions about this photo.

Is it who I think it is? Or not? Hmm

What do you all think?

justthecat · 31/12/2019 16:40

Percy In the war years? 😆 are you Alluding to Kev Webster?

thenightsky · 31/12/2019 16:44

Slight look of Kev, but the eyes are wrong.

x2boys · 31/12/2019 18:25

It looks like Kevin Webster's much younger better looking brother ?.I don't think it is him though as I saw him in pantomime a few months before he became Kevin Webster he was buttons and a bit geeky as I recall.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 02/01/2020 10:41

Yay, CC is back this afternoon Grin

Housewife2010 · 02/01/2020 15:52

Deirdre is going to meet Samir next week!

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 03/01/2020 00:42

What is Deirdre living on? Hmm

She hasn't had a job for months, yet doesn't seem to be worrying about money, does she?

And now she's off on a fairly expensive holiday!

Ontheboardwalk · 03/01/2020 01:14

WheresThatCatGoneNow I thought that as well.

A couple of months ago Deirdre had no money and couldn’t pay the mortgage. She’s now been out off work for months and going off on holiday

Least it proves Samir wasn’t after her cash - she had none

Housewife2010 · 03/01/2020 07:11

I'm sure the pronunciation of Samir's name changed partway through his time on the Street. I remember him starting off as Shamir then changing to Samir ( or I could have dreamed it...)

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 03/01/2020 10:03

You are quite right, Housewife2010.

You'll find several posts about it towards the end of the previous thread.

Liverbird77 · 03/01/2020 13:58

As I recall, they really emphasised the Samir pronunciation after they dropped the Shamir.

HeIenaDove · 03/01/2020 16:34

Percy is a raving misogynist shocker.

SapatSea · 03/01/2020 17:30

Poor Emily, still stuck with Mr Sugden. The Tanya/Raquel/Alex/Des tangle must be coming to a head soon. I also wondered about Deirdre's finances, she was getting money off Tracey to keep them going not long since.
