When I was growing up here in Lancashire in the1970s (only about 25 miles from where Corrie was filmed) it was normal to get a slap on the back of the legs, or a belt around the head from parents.

Same in Yorkshire (1960s/70s). We used to talk about it in the playground and ask each other... 'which do you get, the belt, the slipper or the hand?'

Oh well, thenightsky, you had it worse than I did!

I never got anything other than the hand.

Hand for me too. My best mate over the road got her dad's belt

When I said a 'belt' around the head, I meant a slap, of course! Not an actual leather belt!

Belt is just a word we Northerners use to describe a slap or a smack.

It's become my little treat to watch five hours of Classic Corrie on a Saturday afternoon!

My treat too, I get up before everyone and watch the recorded ones from the day before with my coffee in peace and quiet, so cosy.

I watch mine in peace before my youngest gets in from school

What’s happened to the rest of the episodes? I can’t see them in my planner

Im.assuming they are not on because of Xmas @Ontheboardwalk? I seem to remember they didn't show over last Xmas either .

Slight look of Kev, but the eyes are wrong.

It looks like Kevin Webster's much younger better looking brother ?.I don't think it is him though as I saw him in pantomime a few months before he became Kevin Webster he was buttons and a bit geeky as I recall.

She hasn't had a job for months, yet doesn't seem to be worrying about money, does she?

And now she's off on a fairly expensive holiday!

A couple of months ago Deirdre had no money and couldn’t pay the mortgage. She’s now been out off work for months and going off on holiday

I'm sure the pronunciation of Samir's name changed partway through his time on the Street. I remember him starting off as Shamir then changing to Samir ( or I could have dreamed it...)

You'll find several posts about it towards the end of the previous thread.

As I recall, they really emphasised the Samir pronunciation after they dropped the Shamir.

Poor Emily, still stuck with Mr Sugden. The Tanya/Raquel/Alex/Des tangle must be coming to a head soon. I also wondered about Deirdre's finances, she was getting money off Tracey to keep them going not long since.
