Dereks car tax in his car said 94, yes I’m that sad

thenightsky · 19/12/2019 19:59

I was wondering when Derek's giant paperclip car would appear. Hurray!

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 19/12/2019 20:18

You think you're sad, justthecat?

I noticed that Kevin and Sally's new car (which neither of them ever seem to drive) has had two different registration number plates in the last fortnight.

And, that Curly's car has the wrong upholstery and headrests for that age and model of Escort.

Yes, I know I probably should get out more.......Confused

justthecat · 19/12/2019 20:59

You’ve topped me where’s that cat 😹

justthecat · 19/12/2019 21:01

And I’m sure the paper clip on Dereks car was bigger 😁

x2boys · 19/12/2019 21:34

Yes I seem to remember the paper clip differently?Confused

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 19/12/2019 21:46

I think the paper clip lights up in bright pink neon📎

x2boys · 19/12/2019 23:13

The lovely Samir will be appearing soon....

SapatSea · 20/12/2019 09:55

When Alex met Tanya in his car she came out of a door at the side of the cafe. I always wonder about how Alma and Gail , they hang their coats and handbags just behind the door to the flat from the cafe which is also the door to the toilets. Wouldn't their stuff get nicked? and couldn't any random just wander up the stairs to the flat? No one ever mentions having to clean the "bogs", urgh. I just don't believe someone as glamourous and clean as Alma could stand that greasy cafe, it makes me shudder, she'd have it done up.

x2boys · 20/12/2019 11:59

Yes she would have suited something more elegant than that cafe maybe a wine bar pr,haps?

CoolCarrie · 20/12/2019 16:03

It’s touching to see Percy, Maureen and Maude at the armed services cemetery. God Tanya is a total bitch

CoolCarrie · 20/12/2019 16:04

Maureen ‘s Dad was an American soldier I forgot about that!

thenightsky · 20/12/2019 16:20

The war grave scenes made me quite tearful Sad

x2boys · 21/12/2019 10:31

Those scenes in the grave yard were really well done and very touching particularly Percy getting emotional I don't think I would have appreciated it as much the first time around ,I was only 20, but now i,m 46,with my own kids I have a different perspective ,Corrie at its best.

justthecat · 21/12/2019 12:01

Yes, got me when Percy had a tear in his eye

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 21/12/2019 12:39

Wow, I remember Jim with a temper but hitting his son in the face! Did he ever hit Liz?
I'm surprised Diedrie didn't shout out that she'd snogged Ken last week! Slimeball.

TheSquitz · 21/12/2019 19:11

Yes Jim did hit Liz at least once.

x2boys · 21/12/2019 19:44

She did,nt actually snog him though Knickers she just kissed him on the lips, but yes he was being devious he didn't tell her about Denise or try and put Deirdre off at all.

justthecat · 22/12/2019 12:52

Anybody watch coronation street at Christmas special? Deirdre and Dev 😲

CoolCarrie · 22/12/2019 14:11

Yes, that bit with Dev and Deirde was very funny and cringe, I bet they had a laugh.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 22/12/2019 16:04

Yes, saw the Christmas episodes special.

Is there anyone at all that Tracy hasn't slept with? Shock

Mavis and Rita looked older in the 1970s than they did in the 1990s Confused

SapatSea · 23/12/2019 09:38

I agree that the French scenes were good. Percy made me laugh talking aboout the effects of French bread on the digestive system and then I felt tearful when he shed that tear. What a bombshell for Maud to land on Maureen.

This isn't the first time "big man" Jim has hit Steve (he hit him in front of Vicky). Shocking that it was resolved that they "were all to blame" and Liz just puts it down to "Jim's famous temper". However, where I grew up physical violence against children was quite the norm at home and school.

Deirdre is great, so glad she is back. I loved her outburst in the pub, such wrath.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 23/12/2019 14:22

You're quite right, SapatSea.

When I was growing up here in Lancashire in the1970s (only about 25 miles from where Corrie was filmed) it was normal to get a slap on the back of the legs, or a belt around the head from parents.

Sometimes even a 'pasting' (which was a proper over-the-knee smacked bottom) if I was being a particularly obnoxious brat Grin !!

Don't think it did me any harm at all.
