Here you go

OP posts:
x2boys · 03/06/2020 18:25

I think she was supposed to come back @eggandonion, but it didn't work out so she only came back for a brief period, I had stopped watching it at that point so anytime don't really recall the circumstances .

eggandonion · 03/06/2020 19:19

I would love Bets hair.

FeltCarrot · 04/06/2020 19:30

Just watched a scene with Steve offering Nicky a job in the print shop. Little did they know that 25 years later Steve would be the father of Nickys girlfriend/ex wife’s child.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 04/06/2020 19:33

Also, it underlined that they’re supposed to be six years apart in age (and that Ben Price is way too old for the part)!

x2boys · 04/06/2020 19:43

Yes but who would have thought little Sarah- Louise would be the mother of Baby Daniel,s love interest ?Confused

x2boys · 04/06/2020 19:45

Well I know Bethany j moved away and Daniel was still grieving over Sinead ,but you know what would mean .

eggandonion · 04/06/2020 21:01

Nobody ever goes to a pub and meets some nice partner, they all fall in love with the boy next door. People from outside are terrible, like Phelan.

x2boys · 04/06/2020 21:41

Indeed @eggandonion but I think that's an issue with all.soaps ,someone always falls in love with their next door neighbour it's ridiculous and look at Nick and Leanne for example they go round and round in circles ,I love you ,I don't love you let's have other affairs etc they all have lots of other marriages etc 🙄

StillCoughingandLaughing · 05/06/2020 00:33

Carla has married two of Leanne’s ex-husbands (after her first husband used Leanne as a prostitute) and Nick has married two of Peter’s ex-wives. Then you had Steve and Robert, who virtually swapped wives.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 10/06/2020 13:56

This 'holiday' that Kev and Sally are supposedly away on was a bit sudden, wasn't it Shock

Usually they'd be agonising for weeks beforehand about how much it would cost, and whether to invite Rita to come with them.

I'm guessing it's because Sally Whitaker was on maternity leave, but it was very clumsily done!

I'm really sad that Bet has gone - but somehow Jack and Vera look right behind the Rovers bar!

Vera, perched on her stool with her glasses on, using her handbag as a temporary cash till 🤣🤣 Lovely stuff!

x2boys · 10/06/2020 19:38

Yes that was very funny with vera and her handbag😂I think Rita, treated Bet terribly,Bet didn't ask for her money and she practically offered and then let her down ,I think it Might have been a good storyline Rita and Bet being in Business together .

StillCoughingandLaughing · 11/06/2020 14:25

I did wonder if the powers that be deliberately gave Bet a sad ending because they were pissed off at Julie Goodyear deciding she was bigger than the show.

Liz and Jim are both behaving like arses. It’s so obvious the writers are building up to another split.

x2boys · 11/06/2020 15:15

Yes I agree @StillCoughingandLaughing, I had forgotten what an unpleasant little man Mike Baldwin was though I remember being very money orientated but he's just nasty .

StillCoughingandLaughing · 11/06/2020 17:31

This was a bit of an odd era for Mike, what with living off the street and only really interacting with Jim, Kevin and Deirdre (other than Alma, obviously). We’re a couple of years away from the new factory, which eventually becomes Underworld, yet - that makes him more central again.

Yes, I realise I’m a total Corrie nerd Grin

Rhinosaurus · 11/06/2020 23:08

Was just thinking how much Judy looks like Shona!

Tenebrae · 12/06/2020 08:29

Rhino - you are right, she is the image of her!

eggandonion · 12/06/2020 13:41

Did Judy have twins?
What did Alma see in Mike, she's lovely. I think she wonders too.
I love Vicky, she is so posh, wears suits all the time, doesn't look 1990s at all

x2boys · 12/06/2020 21:28

Why is Liz acting like a love struck teenage with Des?HmmIts all a bit Eww considering she'd had a fling with his brother .

Patch23042 · 12/06/2020 23:26

I didn’t watch it much in the mid 1990s. Much of this is new to me. I can’t remember Liz/Des, or the flasher storyline, or Anne Malone (and I usually remember the characters who were my sort of age)

I do remember Judy and Gary (I think it was them) had a cheeky Christmas sign in their window - Percy was not happy! “Santa’s Love Nest” or something. Strange, the things you recall.

Gary previously played Terry Duckworth’s friend, the one whose wife left him for Terry.

x2boys · 13/06/2020 10:28

Wow your in for a treat if you don't remember Anne Malone Patch! Although I thin the big storyline of hers is a couple of years away in their time, yet!

eggandonion · 13/06/2020 12:33

Anne Malone! I'd forgotten her. Dh can't understand why someone wouldn't want to move to Lowestoft, we were there once. It would be awkward as a distribution hub unless Harwich was involved. Nb, dh is working from home, he's not supposed to be watching.
Des just has to crinkle his little face and women come over all unnecessary. I suppose Jim or Liz was heading off to do panto.

x2boys · 13/06/2020 12:39

Never been to Lowestoft ,I live in Greater Manchester, I googled it as Reg kept banging on about it ,it does look like a nice place 🤔

eggandonion · 13/06/2020 12:45

I suppose once a person from Manchester goes to Lowestoft it's a long way back, although Reg is getting a company car.
I love Reg.

maisiemoolou · 14/06/2020 12:17

Love the flasher story. I was 13-14 when these episodes were first aired. I can remember half of the story lines. So does Liz get it on with Des? Liz is the same age as I am now, but to me she looks so much older than 38-39.

Patch23042 · 14/06/2020 22:04

Yes, I can’t believe that Liz and Jim are 38/39 and 40 respectively. And Des looks a bit older than 30 imo.
