Did the first ep today (Monday 25th) have problems with the colour? It was really washed out and kept flickering.

Glad you mentioned it FromDespair I watching it now and everybodys very grey I thought it was my.tv!

I started messing with my tv settings because the colour looked so bad!

Bet's taking her time with her shopping, haven't seen her for ages!

I read Tony Warren’s autobiography a few years ago. He said he regrets the Duckworths/Rovers storyline, he’d been enthusiastic about it but it just didn’t work out. He also said that Bill Tarmey and Elizabeth Dawn expressed doubts when they heard what was in store for their characters.

Lynne Perrie said that some younger actors resented Betty Driver’s salary. She was also quite scathing about Warren Jackson (Nick) - but despite that, he and Helen Worth were the only cast members who attended her funeral.

I would have resented Betty Driver receiving a large salary- her acting was dire!

Was she scathing about Warren Jackson's acting Patch ? Because he is an appalling actor tbf, yes unfortunately agree Polo,it must have been galling a a young, actor with lots of storylines to be on less of a salary than Betty Driver ,it's not like she really has any storylines apart from the Billy Williams ond.

If you think this Corrie has some bad acting, tune in ten min before it starts and get a glimpse of Emmerdale 😱

Betty seemed to have issue with young cast members though. I’m sure I read about her being difficult with Chloe Newsome too.

I am friends with a lady who was a young actor in corrie at this time. She didn't ever have much to do with Betty Driver but she absolutely adored Jill Summers, who played Phyllis. She adopted her like a grandchild and, when my friend was a young teen, would invite her for sleepovers at The Midland Hotel (she stayed there during the week as she lived down south). They would order room service, she would let my friend have a glass of champagne, and then she would encourage my friend to take home as many toiletries as she could fit in her overnight bag!

Dying to know who that is now! Melanie, Nick’s girlfriend maybe?

Lynne Perrie wasn’t scathing of Warren Jackson’s acting - she accused him of being unfriendly to new child actors, not supportive/encouraging. She thought he could have done more to help them feel at ease.

She didn’t like Chloe Newsome either. She implied that Chloe was too big for her boots. Reading between the lines, Chloe didn’t bow and scrape to her, so she was peeved!

Very sad to see Bet and Rita's row. Is this where Bet leaves? Corrie won't be the same without her!

It is, yes It’s sad that they part on such bad terms - but I did enjoy Bet calling Rita ‘nowt but a clapped-out chorus girl’

And she's gone in a black cab. Bit of cheeky banter with the cab driver and off she goes

I think they were trying to restyle Ken. With his hair and whisky and ginger. Odd

Yes the whiskey and ginger ,very strange they tried to explain kens slightly different hairstyle the other day by Denise saying she had cut it was a birthday present ,

I felt so sorry for Bet having to leave The Rovers but, as ever, she did it with style and her head held high. I did think she was a bit unfair to Vicky though.

Just watching Betty's wedding and trying hard not to imagine the wedding night 😯

I'm very excited - well maybe only slightly - because I missed the current episodes. I hope I don't have to go back to work next week as I ave a routine going based around watching. I realise this is not the spirit!
Does Bet return at some point, not just the short return for a few episodes?
I love Reg and Curly, I wish they'd come back as hotshots in Freshco, or running the CoOp.
