OP posts:
PoloNeckKnickers · 28/04/2020 21:52

x2boys I agree. Ken likes his kecks sprayed on!

x2boys · 29/04/2020 20:56

Oh Vicky! Funny how watching it again i can now see how much Steve manipulates women ,I don't think he was a bad lad as such but he was good looking and charming ( to young women anyway) and played on it .

SapatSea · 30/04/2020 09:44

I think the table and chairs plus a sofa is because it is the "back room" that the family use and it's assumed that there is a front parlour for best and visitors with a 3 piece suite, although we only ever see Sally and Kev's front room on Corrie. Lots of my friends had house like that, bonkers!

How on earth did Fiona actress win awards for her role? she's so dreadful, no nuance. I'm a bit uninterested in most of the storylines at present, hated the Gnome story first time round, Alf's expenses, Billy Williams..zzz.. only TracyLuv is interesting and she has gone off now to Blackpool.

x2boys · 30/04/2020 11:37

Yes my grandparents. Did too @SapatSea but they did have a big enough kitchen for a table and chairs and they did later use the "_Front room " as a dining room, yeah Fiona,s a terrible actress i do feel sorry for TracyLuv maybe that's why she turned out 'the way she is ,I mean she's a bit of a madam bu t so are a lot of teenagers .

Muskeg · 30/04/2020 15:28

Am having to fast forward any scenes with Vera in I am afraid, I really cannot stand her, she is just awful

and poor Vicky, can she not see Steve is just after her money?

CoolCarrie · 30/04/2020 15:34

Vicky is a total mug, and nasty with it too.

eggandonion · 30/04/2020 16:16

She looks about thirty. I'd forgotten the big jacket/short skirt outfit, I had a friend with a career who rocked that. (I was in leggings, two babies in quick succession!) Kevin looks so young.

thenightsky · 30/04/2020 16:29

In the early 90s I worked in an office and we used to get a visiting rep who wore the big jacket/short skirt combo.

I met her again when temping a couple of years ago and she was still wearing them!

Mairyhinge · 30/04/2020 17:50

Ugh Fiona... when Emma ( in modern day Corrie) was talking to her online I'd forgotten how awful she was. She is miserable and sulky and rude . How she keeps any mates is beyond me she has a constant cob on!! Then when Steve shows interest she perks up, briefly, before flouncing off again because he's not dancing to her tune. I cannot stand her. Moody cow.

17million · 30/04/2020 18:13

I was in my first house in 1970 - filled with second hand what I call TV chairs and an old horse hair sofa. As there was one living room/lounge and the kitchen was tiny the table had to join the sofa and chairs.
By the 1980s/early 90s - I had moved up to a 1950s detached house with a knocked thru lounge diner - table and chairs one end and a 3 piece suite in the other end. Yes it was flowery but it had a high back and squishy feather cushions - I still have it now with replumped cushions and it is so comfortable - I hate modern low backed over stuffed sofas from the likes of DFS. As I was working in a professional role in the 1990s I remember the big jackets /short skirts passing as a suit. Happy days Smile

x2boys · 30/04/2020 18:47

Can you get married in a,couple of days,I thought you had h have your bann,s up for a couple of weeks ?? Is special.license not reserved for very exceptional circumstances?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 30/04/2020 23:00

I'm a bit uninterested in most of the storylines at present

We’re about to lose Bet and Reg in quick succession, and it goes through a REALLY dodgy period after that. Whenever I see people on the Corrie Facebook page saying ‘I only watch the classic episodes now; they were so much better so much more humour!’, I wonder if any of them remember how the show was being slated by fans at the time.

Liverbird77 · 01/05/2020 09:57

Are we about to meet Roy?
I think he lives above Deirdre in the flat she's renting from Baldwin. I remember him being quite a creepy character initially.

SapatSea · 01/05/2020 10:27

I feel really sorry for Tracy. She didn't have a happy home what with Deirdre cheating with Baldwin so soon into their marriage, then Deirdre getting in to some serious scrapes as an over involved councillor, Ken's affair with Crozier and over involvement in his newspaper, then Deirdre bringing in a dodgy businessman to the house (forget his name), then loud sex with Dougie, toyboy Samir who was about Craig's age and Ken having a baby with flaky Denise. She did seem to come last on their list and everytime they were being empathetic at the first sign of Tracy criticising them they started remonstrating with her and shouting. They really did cut her adrift at an early age. No wonder she's screwed up. Ken and Deirdre need some parenting classes.

x2boys · 01/05/2020 10:33

Agreed @SapatSea and her biological father running off as not keeping in touch ,wouldn't have helped although maybe Deirdre didn't encourage the relationship once she was settled with ken? Ken was hardly 're best example of a father himself was he all but abandoning his twins when their mother died

toria658 · 01/05/2020 10:41

Has anyone noticed that Jim’s cafe ( Roy’s Rolls)seems a lot smaller now compared with then?

x2boys · 01/05/2020 11:08

They moved location sometime in the late 90,s early 00,s @toria658 although there are lots of mystetious things about Jim,s cafe I thought it was only round the corner from Coronation street and would have expected the street to be a similar lay out to coronation. Street but the outside looked completely different when Fiona was chucking Steve's clothes out of the Windows, also apparently there are two entrances to the flat, around the back and through the cafe yet only one door in the flat 🤔

SapatSea · 01/05/2020 12:41

I'd forgotten Ray Langton x2boys agree with all you have said. The cafe Flat makes no sense, anyone can walk up the stairs to it from the cafe but it also has another door presumably along a ground floor corridor to the side of the stairs, if there is one staircase. When Tanya was leaving with her bloke she came out of a door at the side of the cafe building. They showed the frontage, net curtained big windows facing onto a busy road with an entrance door when I think the cafe used to have a side door entrance that faced onto Rita's old newsagents side door entrance. Oh well, just fits with the expanding bedrooms and unused front rooms (where Deirdre could have kipped at Liz's rather than displace Andy)
I think I've said it before but I just don't believe that Alma would tolerate such grotty, greasy decor !

Tenebrae · 01/05/2020 12:42

Fiona has such scary eyes, like she is possessed. So sorry to hear that Bet leaves soon -she is one of the most iconic and credible characters.

Redglitter · 01/05/2020 17:56

Anyone else noticed the only song on the radio in CC is Robson & Jerome's Unchained Melody. That's at least 3 episodes it's been in. Must be the only one they paid for 🤭

AggressiveWildBeast · 02/05/2020 09:09

I think Fiona looks just like Will Smith facially.

Candodad · 02/05/2020 20:29

The Cafe moves location soon after they sell it. I’m sure it’s part of a redevelopment storyline. It’s supposed to be within five minutes walking distance but did anyone notice the SPAR up the road? It akin to the modern day where Spar doesn’t seem to compete with Dev and Costa has had no effect on Roy’s.
First live shots of the street from inside the salon though?

cherrytree63 · 03/05/2020 07:24

I have a vague memory of Roy's cafe being Fred Elliot's butchers shop previously.

Candodad · 03/05/2020 10:05

I thought they existed at the same time?

cherrytree63 · 04/05/2020 00:25

Yes just googled and it was next door.
