The most shocking thing I found about the nurse Martin had sex with is apparently she was only 19 she looks at least 10 years older than that to me , Denise is such a bitch.

Nurse also looks a bit like Gail. Dh doesn't know what Ken sees in Denise.

I don't know what anyone would see in Denise, male or female. She's the sort that would just ghost you because she felt like it. Horrible woman.

I want to reach in the screen and slap Martin. Gail is angry not depressed...if she was on the relationship boards here she'd get totally different advice lol.

I don't remember Martin being a baddie! That Denise was awful though.
I am enjoying Reg and Phyllis and the other golden oldies.

Martin has a one night stand and nobody can understand why Gail is upset! My jaw dropped when he said she should see a psychiatrist !

God,he's so awful as though Gail would get an appointment with a psychiatrist because Martin,s shagged someone else ,as someone who trained as a mental health Nurse in the 90,s,when there was a a lot more m mental health support around they would laugh in her face ,she needs to kick Martin out she doesn't need mental health support and no.she's not depressed I quite agree with her but Martin,s trying to gaslight her 🙄

The drama was slightly more believable in the classic days, Reg and his wig, Martin and a young nurse...less shooting and falling to death and strange financial deals. But I'm not liking Martin just now.

But I'm quite surprised at how much the 'feel' of the show has changed just in the eight years that we've been watching so far (1987 to 1995)

The grittier, more sensationalist storylines are gradually creeping in already, aren't they?

I suppose they were trying to reflect life in 1990s Britain, but I miss the simplicity and gentle pace of the earlier years.

I'd love to see the really early ones. I suspect they'd be really dull!

I had a box set of all the years up to 1990 with about 8 episodes for each year. I sold them on eBay but kept the years me and DP were born (mine is when Val Barlow got electrocuted!)

There are some on you tube @eggandonion ,random episodes though ,I was watching an episode where Alf married his first side and The Rovers had a massive function room ,not sure where ,that's gone or where the space was

She owned the corner shop apparently and died in a car crash that's how Alf ended up with the shop ,I may have googled a bit😂

Poor Renee! I remember watching it, they'd gone for a picnic I think and when she died the whole family couldn't believe it! No spoilers in those days!

I had a google too. I remember Maggie Clegg in the corner shop but I forgot Renee.

My gran always hated Alf and she truly believed he was really just a gold digga and after a shop (corner shop or t'Kabin). She was pleased that glamorous Audrey led him "a merry dance."

I preferred the 80's storylines and feel. There is a storyline coming up involving Raquel and a manager at Curly's work that I think was the beginning of the decline into sensationalism. I'm still enjoying current episodes as I only watched sporadically (due to young DC) originally.

Deirdre is looking really lovely and glowing (but not as tanned as she should be after living in Morrocco) she looks so much less stressed having had a rest after her cancer treatment in RL. No mention of how it is living with Samir's mum.

Poor Gail, her reaction to Martin's infidelity is pretty normal. Alma wasn't in good shape when Mike went off with Jackie Ingram so she should be more sympathetic.

I loved that mad scene with Ken and Raquel at the breakfast table reading horoscopes, whilst Bet worked her biceps on a leopard print machine with a fag hanging out of her mouth
