Ah, now I think Bradley Walsh played Danny Baldwin (Mike's brother). I think his son was in a relationship with Leanne Battersby, but was shagging Danny (the dad) on the side. I'm struggling with the age differences here though, which makes me wonder if I've got all that wrong.

I think that Danny was Mike’s nephew. Makes sense because Mike would’ve been born in around 1940 and Danny in the 1960s.

Debra Stephenson worked on Spitting Image and sometimes added the odd bit of mimicry as Frankie. She pretended to be leanne on the phone once iirc

Danny was Mike,s son but they always thought he was his nephew I think ?Anyway yes bring back the Baldwin's we already have Adam let's have some sibling rivalry with Mark and Danny!

Did they then pull the same trick with Uncle Johnny and Carla (being his secret daughter?) what are the chances?? Must be something to do with clothing factories.

Just watched fridays episode with Deirdre and Samir walking in the park. He looks both confused and terrified at the same time! Makes me cringe when they kiss. Yuck.
No chemistry and his accent is awful. What the chuff do they see in each other? Although Deirdre was always a bit of a goer ( if you'll excuse my misongeny)

Mairy I agree. Anne Kirkbride is doing her best but it's like acting next to a block of wood. Remember Deirdre and Douggie, yuk but even he had more chemistry with her. I suppose it is the response to what the superior, intellectual Ken does to a woman.

In today's second episode, Shamir suddenly became Samir.

Didn't she call him Samir when they were walking and snogging in the park last week?

Ooh, I'm not sure....

And I've deleted Friday's ep now, so I can't check!

Yes I noticed Samir/Shamir was suddenly pronounced Samir ,Deirdre and Samir Snogging is not something I want to think about 😩

Could be worse, could be ken

I remember that strange awkward "this is how we work at the bar scene" that was in yesterday afternoon's episode from the first time round. I'm afraid I've never been a fan of Bet. Yesterday was the first time I noticed Deirdre call her daft toyboy " Samir". I also remember that when Deirdre and Ken finally get back together and snog we see TONGUES! (Now I bet you're all looking forward to that....)

I think Ken always called him Samir but then he is educated.

I was a bit worried Maureen was going to have sex with the creepy Curly again last week.

Ken and Deirdre Snogging with tongues 😵,the Samir and Deirdre story line is just and to far fetched imo,out of all the women that holiday in his hotel he falls for Deirdre ???

I think Curly and Maureen do get it on again though🤔

It is a bit far fetched but Deirdre does have a very trim figure and is very smiley, chatty and nice and was on her own.The Shirley Valentine film was about 5 or 6 years before iirc so I suppose they wanted to trade on that but didn't want to copy with a greek or spanish waiter so made it a bit more exotic with Agadir destination. The problem is that Samir has zero personality. If they did that story now the waiter love would con her out of the house or get her to smuggle drugs for him.

Yep she would be appearing in Take a Break with her tale of woe .

Very excited to be able to watch for once! Remember the Shamir/Samir controversy and his terrible acting. Restaurant manager is really terrible actor! Weirdly I remember for ages there used to be an NME on display in the Cabin with the front cover “Can you stomach Suede” around this time think!

I don't think the bloke playing Samir is a bad actor. I think the faltering way he speaks is to emphasise that he is far from fluent in English.

uurgh, Mike Baldwin is just awful. Alma could do so much better for herself.
