Here you go

OP posts:
WheresThatCatGoneNow · 11/02/2020 19:47

He's redecorating - with Raquel's enthusiastic help!

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 11/02/2020 19:53

But now he's been sacked, they seem to have run out of steam. - and money, unfortunately....

DixieLandReject · 11/02/2020 20:13

Ahhh right, it seemed like it all happened in a split second!

DixieLandReject · 11/02/2020 20:13

I love it when Rita and Bet go for a boozy lunch, I’d love to be party to those conversations!

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 11/02/2020 20:36

Did you see Bet and Raquel's boozy after-hours lock in last week? Knocking back fancy cocktails and bitching about men!

I remember watching that scene the first time round (26 years ago!Shock) and it was sooo good to see it again!

x2boys · 11/02/2020 20:47

Yes ,it was funny ,I do like Bet she's very funny ,Fiona annoys me a bit she's not as I remember her ,May be she's not got into her stride get but she's very shouty .

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 11/02/2020 20:54

If you think Fiona is shouty, just wait until the Battersby's arrive.

Leanne and Toyah were so shrill and harsh, screaming at everybody, I remember actually having to mute the TV because their voices really made me feel ill (sort of a sickly headache type feeling)

I will be prepared this time, whenever they turn up!

Patch23042 · 11/02/2020 22:27

Fiona’s supposed to be some femme fatale (“god gave me this face” etc) but she’s actually very ordinary in every way.

Thelma Barlow is outstanding. Love the mannered way she eats her boiled eggs as Mavis - and her coquettish behaviour sitting on the armchair opposite Roger. Completely different body language. Very nuanced.

I’d forgotten that Fred started out as a wrongun, with bribes etc.

First mention of Maxine this week.

x2boys · 11/02/2020 22:45

Yes Thelma Barlow is a brilliant actress and don't I ever appreciated 'the first time around .

cherrytree63 · 11/02/2020 22:50

I've loved the last few episodes, Derek and Mavis, superb acting! Bet and Rita, Raquel and Curly, really good dynamics.
Anyone else spot Bernice from Emmerdale?

thenightsky · 11/02/2020 22:52

Bernice! of course! I was trying to place that actress.

x2boys · 11/02/2020 22:53

Yes I spotted Bernice!

thenightsky · 11/02/2020 22:55

@WheresThatCatGoneNow That is my favourite ever scene... especially the part with the knife drawer Grin

x2boys · 11/02/2020 23:02

And Des being in and out of the freezer many times 😂

DixieLandReject · 12/02/2020 00:12

Yes the pub scene with Bet and Raquel was excellent. Thelma Barlow is so underrated and her scenes with Derek this week have been fantastic, I particularly liked the bit where she was kicking him out!

Denise seems to be turning a bit dowdy and dare I say it, slightly like Deirdre Confused she started off with flame red hair a la Elsie a Tanner, a proper siren!

Loved bet and mikes exchange in the pub as well, no one gets one over on bet!

TheSquitz · 12/02/2020 06:32

Did Curly resign from Bettabuys or was he sacked? Why did he leave? I've missed a few episodes.

x2boys · 12/02/2020 07:19

I used think he was sacked Squitz? Although how they did that without following any kind of procedure I don't know 🙄or May be he was asked to.resign? Either way it was,nt his choice .

x2boys · 12/02/2020 07:25

And it was because there were lots of complaints about Sexual harassment about him by Kimberley ,Elaine Fenwick ,Raquel etc ,although these couldn't have been recent? So I'm not sure why it came to light than ?

SapatSea · 12/02/2020 10:07

I think the head honcho woman said that KImberley and Elaine were willing to give statements at a tribunal but it would be best for Curly if he cleared his desk and left that day. Would he get benefits since he then had given up his job/been sacked?

Fiona is a dreadful actress. Bet is brilliant, as is Mavis (like a preening little hen). The knife and utensil drawer is known as "the murder drawer" in our house.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 12/02/2020 12:10

Boiled eggs seem to be quite popular, don't they? We often see Bet tucking into one aswell.

I often wonder what happened to the contents of all those catering-size tins of beans, peas etc, the Alma and Gail are always opening in the café. I do hope they weren't just thrown away and wasted.

x2boys · 12/02/2020 12:47

I don't know about benefits maybe maybe Jobseekers allowance ?Maybe he has savings .

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 12/02/2020 13:43

Curly will be selling his car soon.

If I remember correctly, he sold it to Martin, who "bought it for Gail".

As far as I know, Gail can't drive - I've never seen her behind the wheel of a car in all the decades she has been in Corrie (right up to present day)

It's always struck me as odd that Martin should buy Gail a car - especially as the car was never seen again! Confused

x2boys · 12/02/2020 16:26

Where would they park the cars ?I don't think there are any garages on the street and you never see any cars parked on the street 🤔

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 12/02/2020 20:21

Only one house has an attached garage - the Platt's - later destined to become Gail's granny annexe/burial chamber!

x2boys · 13/02/2020 07:25

Can't be long now untill Martin qualify ,s as a nurse and becomes the only nurse at weatherfield general always about when people have to go into hospital whatever their age or condition ,yet never seems to be on duty at Xmas or weekends etc Hmm
