Here you go

OP posts:
Housewife2010 · 03/02/2020 13:18

I was concerned that Tanya left without picking up her handbag.

flamingnoravera · 03/02/2020 19:42

I was watching CCS the other day, a scene with Jack and Des Barnes in the bookies. I was struck by how like Steve Mc Donald he was. Is Steve in current CS becoming Jack Duckworth? Its uncanny.

JustPutThemBackAfterwards · 03/02/2020 22:29

Beats me why Charlie didn't dump Tanya on the spot after that scene with Bet.

Surely he must have realised Tanya only wanted him to call into The Rovers so that she could follow him in and deliver that final cruel blow to Bet.

I don't think Tanya is an evil bitch, though. She's obviously somehow very damaged where men are concerned.

Her Dad has no time for her, and rejected her when she reached out to him a few weeks ago, and it was plain how much that hurt her.

She's desperate for a man to love her (maybe a father figure) but has no idea how to find or meet 'the one'.

I do feel sorry for her, really - she's just a very unhappy young girl underneath that tough, hard-as-nails (yet very brittle) veneer.

Patch23042 · 04/02/2020 08:40

Tanya was brilliantly written and acted. I’d like to have seen her interact with Terry Duckworth actually.

x2boys · 04/02/2020 08:48

Yes she was played brilliantly ,someone you would love to hate ,excellent story line .

JustPutThemBackAfterwards · 04/02/2020 09:41

The role of Tanya was Eva Pope's very first job after leaving drama school.

It's amazing the depth and realism she brought to the character so early on in her career - she must be a very talented actress.

I've never managed to see anything else she has been in since - I really must make a point of seeking those programmes out, and watching them.

Mammatino · 04/02/2020 12:13

She was in Waterloo Road around series 4 as the head and was great. I 100% agree, what a great character, I HATED her at the time. Wasn't Bet great, heart break ad class through and through. I saw an article a couple of days ago saying new corrie would love to bring her back. They ought to... If only for Rita to have vodkas with.

Housewife2010 · 04/02/2020 13:09

She was in Hetty Feather.

SapatSea · 04/02/2020 14:05

Bye bye Tanya, great character. Mean girl, although I have to admit sometimes I feel annoyed with drippy, simpering Raquel.I agree Justput Tanya is hard and defensive but damaged.

I really miss Deirdre, Anne Kirkbride was great.

Flaming I agree. Isn't it strange, who could have predicted that "boyband looks" Steve McDonald would end up being Duck egg!

x2boys · 04/02/2020 14:42

Out of the two I think " Andy,s" the more beleivable and the better actor I wonder why they have never brought Andy McDonald back ,I know they have for brief stints but long term?

SapatSea · 04/02/2020 16:35

I agree X2boys . IIRC he was culled in 1997 by a new producer who sacked some other residents (can't recall who) but I wonder why he was never brought back as a regular by subsequent producers. It seems like the actor was always up for coming back.

x2boys · 04/02/2020 16:39

Yeah its a Shame Sapat it might make the Steve seem more believable in current Corrie I don't watch it regularly but when I do his character always seems so over acted

thewooster · 05/02/2020 15:28

I really enjoyed Tanya and I love Bet. Another of my favourites is Mavis. All great actresses.

I'm not keen on Kevin in classic corrie, he just seems to shout a lot and get angry at Sally.

SapatSea · 05/02/2020 17:44

I think Kev never learned to act or has grown as an actor, so is always either happy or shouty and grumpy, no nuance. Amazing he has survived all these years with a regular paycheck. I don't like how he always shouts at Sally either, horrid.

x2boys · 06/02/2020 09:43

Yeah Kevin has been very lucky ,he's not the world's greatest actor by any stretch of the imagination ,I was him in a pantomime ( amateur) as buttons a few months before he got the role as " kev " ,not sure he's been in anything else ever?

Mammatino · 06/02/2020 16:55

Was bet drinking neat Gordon's gin after receiving the spiteful post card? I once drank a glass of neat gin and vomited straight into a Bush on my lovely friends porch. Thank heaven it rained. I love remembering that Tracy was always a nasty self serving piece.

x2boys · 06/02/2020 17:08

I could drink lidll,s pink gin straight I think🤔 as it's very pleasant tasting but not dry gin😲 what's going on with Mavis,s hair and that bow!

Mammatino · 06/02/2020 19:50

Oh the black velvet bow!! How 90's is that, I had lots of bows and scarves to tie around my ponytail. I saw the actress that plays mavis talking about Victoria Wood and dinner ladies and I'm sure she was wearing the black velvet bow. It was the green sequinned 2 piece that tipsy maureen was wearing at the awards do that got my outfit of the week. Obviously it's usually a toss up between Bet and Rita.

BadPearl · 07/02/2020 07:42

Glad to see the back of Tanya, what a cow. Though she had a cracking figure.

EggysMom · 07/02/2020 07:53

Ah, the era of big hair bows on grown women. I remember it well. I think I've still got a teal-coloured one somewhere ...

x2boys · 07/02/2020 08:02

I can't really remember the bows ? I remember Fergie Bows but I thought that was more 80,s ? I did think Denise could have done more with Mavis,s hair other than just sticking a bow in it ,it's a bit a bit bland .

x2boys · 07/02/2020 17:22

Surely even in the 90,s they couldn't just Sack you? Would Curly not have suspended pending investigation ?particularly in a company as big as Bettabuys is supposed to be .

Mammatino · 08/02/2020 08:31

Union? Surely? To be fair he didn't have a leg to stand on but I think he could do them for unfair dismissal for not following procedure. Oh I want to throttle Derek wilton talk about double standards. How has Charlie the brass neck to come back? Keep it classy bet.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 08/02/2020 15:13

Do all of you remember a couple of years ago, when Mike put a neon sign on the factory, and all the residents on the opposite side of the street were up in arms about what a nuisance it was at night?

Well, it's just struck me that the neon sign in Denise's window is far brighter and bigger than Mike's was, and it's on day and night.

So why no complaints this time, I wonder? I would have thought that both Bet's and Deirdre's front bedrooms would be affected by the glare, and maybe Emily's too.

DixieLandReject · 11/02/2020 19:38

I must have missed an episode, but can anyone tell me why Curlys house is in a state of disrepair?
