I thought Mike would go? She didn't put a foot wrong.

Oooh lucky DoneAdulting! Was it a very long day?

awaynboilyurheid · 10/11/2019 10:04

Yes I’ve been in audience too, good isn’t it! Claudia was very natural and funny she walked round joking about her dress and pulling at it like it was stuck in her bra and pants! but I found Tess to be very nervous and she ran off stage the minute she read her auto cue. Aliaz is so relaxed and happy he was waving and giving a thumbs up to the audience the second before he had to dance!

awaynboilyurheid · 10/11/2019 10:13

iki it’s a really long day, we took in some sweets but you only get a can of water and small pack of biscuits! But it’s great experience, funny to see how they film it all out of sequence too Dancers had to dance the professional sat night and “sunday’” night dance twice and also dance with celebs so they do work hard

DoneAdulting · 10/11/2019 10:15

We joined the queue for ticket validation at 4am, tickets were validated at 9am. We were numbers 39 & 40. Very very cold, we had camping chairs and many blankets. The time passed surprisingly quickly though. The first people had been there since midnight.
We were told to come back at 3:15, so we were able to have a sleep and get ready for the show in the hotel.
They confiscate phones immediately on entry, and have you all waiting in a big marquee which was very cold and not enough seating. At 4:30 they took us into the studio in groups of 30. The first 30 are seated at the end of the dance floor that you never see on camera, they have the best view of everything but have the camera rigs above them and the props all behind them. We were seated on the third row right behind where Tess talks to the couples after their dance, on the end of the row where Tess and the dancers often ran past.

At 6pm they recorded Luke Evans singing for the results show. He did it three times. He literally just came on, sang, then disappeared again.

In between links Tess sits behind a pillar in the audience, looking at a script, having her hair and make up touched up and drinking Coke Zero through a straw!

Aljaz and Jeanette stand holding hands watching the dances at the top of the stairs, they're very cute.

We got out at 10:30, so other than a few biscuits we had nothing to eat since lunchtime, and we could have gone to the loo if we needed it but it was outside in the rain!

So yes a very long day but I would do it every weekend, I'm on a major real life downer now!

Agree with others about liking AJ more and more and about KFG as Alex's partner. Also disappointed with Anton but liked Emma's Fosse style despite a few wobbles.

Karim was still doing his ballet/jazz tricks, beautifully, but his style is the same for every dance with no change in the dynamics. So not really "Ballroom", more stage/theatre dance.
Michelle was handicapped with horrendous hair style and dress which did her no favours, but pulled it off with her musical style/flair.

Mike was as Craig said but did strike some good held poses - well one I remember.
Mike should be in the DO but must admit I admire his grit/guts.
Chris has improved but not yet enough.
Think those 2 should be in the DO.
I am getting fed up with Kelvin's non-costumes. Is he insisting on them - I remember that denim jacket over an exotic shirt hiding his hip movements. Yesterday he showed his hips but otherwise he could have been in everyday clothes.

Clawdy · 10/11/2019 10:30

For the first time, I saw what people see in Kelvin, then they gave him a lower score than usual! Grin

awaynboilyurheid · 10/11/2019 10:33

Done it’s great to see isn’t it ? I had different experience as didn’t have to queue or go outside to loo! As as you say long day but would do it every week end in a heartbeat!

covetingthepreciousthings · 10/11/2019 10:34

Thanks for sharing @DoneAdulting Glitterball

Looking forward to hear what else you have to say after the results show later!

Gooseysgirl · 10/11/2019 10:36

@DoneAdulting that's exactly where I was sitting when I went a few years ago! My MIL was with me and I asked for us to be brought to the studio early as she was awaiting knee replacement at the time and couldn't stand for long - they couldn't have been nicer about it! This was back in the days when it was still being recorded at White City. It really is a great experience watching the show being recorded, and well worth all the queuing etc beforehand.

emilybrontescorsett · 10/11/2019 10:40

Sounds like a great day out Doneadulting I would love to get tickets for Blackpool. My dds have competed there and it's great.
I was watching footage of Shirley perform and she was amazing. She can be as mean to the contestants as she likes from now on because I can't get over how brilliant she could dance.
I'm really liking Saffron and A J. Think she deserves to get to the final.
I felt as if Joe Varney was being a bit prickly towards Michelle. I think he feels hard done to by not having a fit young partner. I gave Michelle a vote as she looked truly awful in that outfit yet managed to do a very decent job.
If you watch them on IT2 he doesn't put his arm around her like other professionals do with their partners, he sits with his arms folded or on his lap.or
I felt sorry for Karim, hope he gets to do a routine where he can show off his tricks.
I think it's time for Anton to go. He If the worst partner for me. Poor Emma.

Encyclo · 10/11/2019 10:49

Joe Varney was standoffish with Faye last year too.

He was so lovely with Debbeh though

KurriKawari · 10/11/2019 10:50

If you watch them on IT2 he doesn't put his arm around her like other professionals do with their partners, he sits with his arms folded or on hislap.

As much as I love Joe Varney, if one of my colleagues was touching me like some of the other celeb/pros I wouldn't like it. Also he has had older celebs before and always danced with them properly and never made them into comedy acts. And as a few of the male celebs have left SCD for DWTS, am sure having an American connection would only be good for him.

ManonBlackbeak · 10/11/2019 10:57

I think Giovanni is probably concerned about being accused of having an affair with his partner. Thats why he's not as touchy feely as some of the others.

KurriKawari · 10/11/2019 11:05

Same I think for Chris and Karen. Chris is happily married and probably worried about the rumours/strictly curse hence they are less handsy. Someone mentioned Alex not looking at Neil, and I've already read loads about their "strictly curse" 🤷‍♀️ and the judges seem keen to force a "showmance" on AJ and Saffron.

Also the person on the thread who said AJ is plastic & probably has no genitals. Really?! Would that have been an acceptable comment about a young woman?

Samcro · 10/11/2019 11:24

i really hope Chris stays. he is the only one apart from Michelle who seem to have a personality. will be so dull if he goes.
I am still annoyed with the over marking of Karim.

KurriKawari · 10/11/2019 11:33

No way is Chris going. I would say he has one of the larger fanbases. Plus he's are the only dances I like watching back because of the sheer joy on his face.
Really don't think Amy's sleeves helped that dance, was fully expecting them both to get entangled in them.

ElspethFlashman · 10/11/2019 11:36

Yeah I keep waiting for Chris to say something "urrrgh" but he apparently is just a really nice funny bloke. I like him a lot. I also thought he did fairly well in the Paso, considering he funds it hard to keep a straight face. He was pretty good in terms of focus and timing and intensity.

One thing I notice about Chris is that he always hits it quite cleanly in terms of the music. He's never "oops, that was the last note of the song, better punch the air quick!". He anticipates the beat and tends to be bang on.

I think they'd keep him in just cos this was his first dance of this nature and he equipped himself OK. They clearly were happy to make allowances last night. He has to keep improving though and he wouldn't be saved in a DO with Alex or Karim.

He might be saved in a DO with Emma though. (I reckon he's actually a bit better than Emma actually.)

iklboo · 10/11/2019 11:39

I like that Chris takes criticism well without bursting into tears. He's always 'yep, totally fair. I'll work on that if I'm still in next week'. Plus he's got a fabulous smile and genuinely seems to be having a whale of a time.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 10/11/2019 12:31

Lucky you @DoneAdulting

Look forward to hearing what you say after the results!!

awaynboilyurheid · 10/11/2019 12:34

Yes he’s just enjoying the whole strictly experience and he takes all the cristicism on the chin I really him and Karen together they are a good teaming this year.

Theromanempire · 10/11/2019 12:45

I do feel a teensy bit sorry for Emma - as a superfan, this experience is clearly not as enjoyable as she would have hoped for whatever reason. Could be her, could be Anton or a combination of reasons but you only get one shot and this is hers. Quite sad Sad

ConfCall · 10/11/2019 13:05

I seem to remember Anton doing well with Katie but on the whole, he’s the pro I’d least like to be paired with.

fedup21 · 10/11/2019 13:13

Why is Anton not being a good partner to Emma?

ElspethFlashman · 10/11/2019 13:25

He seems quite wary of her. She said he was pushing her but in a nice way, but from his point of view that may be "She only trains half the hours the others put in and she's a total stress head and she's doing my head in but HA HA MAHVELLOUS!"

ElspethFlashman · 10/11/2019 13:29

By the way, she thanked 2 other people so plainly Anton didn't actually choreograph that routine, which is normal enough when something is a bit specialised, like Fosse.

People will still blame him for it though.
