I thought Mike would go? She didn't put a foot wrong.

she was such a sore loser! To be honest never saw her appeal. She is an ok dancer but lack any kind of life in her.

SoupDragon · 04/11/2019 12:25

She wasn't a sore loser, she was gutted

SoupDragon · 04/11/2019 12:30

Neither of them were going to get to the final so it doesn't matter in that respect. We are currently in the "picking off the bottom tier" weeks. Just moved from Duffers into the Simply Not Greats. Dev is the exception to this IMO as I think he should have been in til the last weeks.

AppleKatie · 04/11/2019 12:34

I can’t believe they’ve saved mike so consistently. He’s just dreadful to watch 🤷‍♀️

Poor bloke is probably lovely in RL and wanting to go!

Found you, I think - bit confused initially as I though 'spoilers' in the title meant this was a thread full of blue Russians.

Wheresthebeach · 04/11/2019 12:43

So being reported that Bruno said he saved Mike as Katya was the one who made a mistake and Mike saved her.

BBC edited his comments out. Well that will get the sequins flying!

Still doesn't explain the madly inflated marks but I think that's Shirley's influence.

eenymeenyminyme · 04/11/2019 12:52

Mike had to dance on his own but Emma was dragged around the floor by Aljaž - it was like watching a good dancer grab a complete novice at a wedding reception!

Beveren · 04/11/2019 12:57

Mike does better in reasonably crowd-pleasing dances like the Charleson and the couple's choice, and he's had a run of those in weeks where his DO opponents have had dances they struggle with. Also Katya is a very good choreographer who knows how to bring out the best even in bad dancers, and she is strict about things like timing and footwork. I'm not a fan, but I noticed that he didn't repeat his footwork mistakes in the DO, and I thought the result was fair.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 04/11/2019 13:54

Wow, that last thread filled up quickly. I only got one post in.

I agree that Mike really needs to go soon. Also Emma B needs to get some advice from Alex about how to put her pro out for a few weeks. If Anton was replaced by Graziano, or anybody at all really, she'd have a much better chance.

picklemepopcorn · 04/11/2019 14:02

Emma was really upset, and doesn't have the professional sports person's experience of pretending it's fine!

I could see the strengths in Mike's Charleston, but he was so wobbly. There were times his partner was keeping him up. I admired his strength and stability in the lifts though.

Emma had lovely arms, but he feet lacked determination. I don't know the technical terms, but while she placed her arms and finished each move, her feet looked as if they'd landed there accidentally and might drift off somewhere else. She was a bit airy fairy when she needed to be grounded.

But I loved her anyway.

The80sweregreat · 04/11/2019 14:20

I don't get the Michelle love much either. She seems nice enough , but her dances haven't wowed me as much as they have the judges.
She is good at looking the part I think!

It's been a odd series. So many pulling out, Mike being saved , all the emotion and Anton just getting upset all the time.
It's not a vintage year although Karim is fab. I do look forwards to his dances and Chris was having so much fun on there! I think his other dances might not be as good.

SureTry · 04/11/2019 14:22

Emma just didn't cope well with being in the bottom two. She looked like she gave up before she even took a step and then it was up to Aljaž to drag her around. Saying that, it can't feel good to go up against Mike in the dance off, it must feel like curtains before you've even taken a step.

Encyclo · 04/11/2019 15:10

Found you all again!

Just marking my place for ITT this evening.

Encyclo · 04/11/2019 15:12

@SureTry Emma just didn't cope well with being in the bottom two

I agree. She said herself she was "shaky".

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 04/11/2019 15:16

I love Aljaz so am gutted he/they are out, and I think Emma had more potential overall especially to improve her ballroom, but even I, biased as I always am in favour of Aljaz's partners, thought Mike did a better job in the DO. I think the writing was on the wall for Emma as soon as they announced she was doing a samba, in a week when the two weakest dancers were doing the crowd-pleasing and less precise Charleston and Any Old Tut Couples' Choice, because it was never going to be her dance.

OverByYer · 04/11/2019 15:16

It went wrong when they voted Dev off, since then it’s just been bizarre.
Mike is definitely being over marked. Emma W was probably slightly weaker last night but she had a more difficult ( and in my view boring) dance.
I’m convinced that Mike is staying because he’s in the BBC payroll and is already booked on to the SCD tour - which I normally go to but won’t be bothering this year as there’s no one that I’m overly keen on now that’s left in it

LiveatCityHall · 04/11/2019 15:24

I rewatched it and I see what you all mean about the mistake being katya's in the dance off! And I also see what you're saying about the samba. She was very smiley but yes it lacked something. I can totally see why I'm not a judge 😂

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 04/11/2019 15:33

The tour is nothing to do with the BBC.

I've never understood the 'BBC employee' conspiracy theories that pop up every year. Dev is also a BBC employee; Emma 'BBC employee' Barton was buffed down to the bottom of the leaderboard; 'All Change at Longleat' featuring Emma W was broadcast on BBC1...I honestly don't think the producers really care whether the winner, either overall or of any particular dance off, is one of their employees or not. Pretty sure most entertainment personalities are freelance these days anyway so might be on the Beeb one day, then pop up on a commercial channel a week later.

I might have missed an explanation along the line, but what are the consequences of Will's departure for the remaining competitors? Will there be a free pass one week when nobody gets knocked out?

xsquared · 04/11/2019 15:50

When Will Young withdrew from the competition in 2016 for personal reasons, they had a 3 people final.

I wonder who will miss out in the final this year. If I had to predict, I reckon the 3 finalists would be Karim, Kelvin and Michelle.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 04/11/2019 15:52

I think there's going to be a three person final bibliomania. It was originally a three person final but they introduced an extra person after a series where there was a withdrawal because of injury.
