The latest Sarah Lancashire drama starts tonight, from the writer of Kirri and National Treasure. Anyone else planning to watch?

I've just turned it off because I don't care what happens and its boring the pants off me.

HelenaDove · 31/10/2019 21:18

Im also bemused by the fact they keep saying it was inspired by Grenfell. In both Grenfell and Aberfan - the victims were supposed to be where they were. That's not the case in The Accident

This has made me angry too.

MrsGrindah · 31/10/2019 21:19

I’m watching again cos there’s nowt else on but it’s still crap. Only six days later and none of the mothers are crying?

pinksparkleunicorns · 31/10/2019 21:21

I recorded it and just starting it now. Joanna Scanlan's character is so vile, not sure I can watch it as I hate all of them really!

EleanorReally · 31/10/2019 21:22

Still watching

mustangsly · 31/10/2019 21:27

I'm still watching, purely for Sarah Lancashire.

pinksparkleunicorns · 31/10/2019 21:28

I just don't believe that anyone (teenager or not) would be stupid enough to break illegally into a building, see loads of GAS CANISTERS and then SMOKE. I just can't get past it.

SavageBeauty73 · 31/10/2019 21:28

I've turned it over. It's nothing like Grenfell! The teenagers broke into a building site and were trespassing. It's total bollocks

AllInTheBestPossibleTaste · 31/10/2019 21:36

I'm giving up on this.....gonna download guilt Smile

MrsEricBana · 31/10/2019 21:38

I'm surprised how bad it is really.

NoSauce · 31/10/2019 21:40

I’ve watched it tonight ( sort of ) but that’s it. I can’t stand the husband. It’s boring and I don’t think it’s going to get better.

HelenaDove · 31/10/2019 21:45

At the top of tonights episode they switched on the car radio and the news reader was saying something about a developed country saying.............first Grenfell and now this. So its not just the media making the comparison. Its actually in the script.

AmIScary · 31/10/2019 21:46

This is shite

I'm cringing at SL dancing

I'm going to watch Guilt at 10. Night and day between them in terms of drama

DotBall · 31/10/2019 21:49

We watched it last week as DH was an extra in it. The rest is being recorded, but whether we’ll take time to watch it is debatable.

CoolCarrie · 31/10/2019 21:50

I’m not watching it , it was soo bad last week, Guilt is leaps and bounds ahead of it.

rachelb76 · 31/10/2019 21:52

God it really is a pile of garbage isn't it! The acting is shite, the accents are shite and the story is just nonsense!

CoolCarrie · 31/10/2019 21:54

Watch Guilt instead rachel!

purpleme12 · 31/10/2019 21:57

I wasn't watching tonight. Was there and of the weirdness in SL and her husband's relationship in it again? Cos that was the not that disturbed me last time. Not the fact that there was domestic violence but how it all was....

Encyclo · 31/10/2019 22:03

I loathe and detest SL's husband.

WTF was that bedroom scene about? How can she bear him? Also how can the whole town know he beats her? What kind of society are they living in?

It's perplexing.

purpleme12 · 31/10/2019 22:16

Oh I'm guessing there was more weirdness then. Mmm perhaps I won't bother

Rumboogie · 31/10/2019 22:23

Loadarubbish

Sagradafamiliar · 31/10/2019 22:43

Hilarious, disturbing, unpleasant, incredibly offensive, laughable all in one with no likeable characters.
Going to have to keep watching to see if it gets even weirder.

Encyclo · 31/10/2019 22:45

It's saying a lot when Adrian Scarborough's creep lawyer is the most likeable character for me.

BitOfFun · 01/11/2019 00:32

I didn't bother. I don't like giving up on a series once I've started, but this and Sanditon have gone down the swanny recently.

Pemba · 01/11/2019 04:44

Wow this is so crappy. Like pps said, the husband is vile. Abusive and insulting how does she put up with him? And yet we are clearly meant to see him as a flawed but loveable character - he punches her, gives her vile insults, next thing they are having a cuddle and a giggle together? What a weird relationship. It's quite disturbing that this is presented as acceptable and normal.

Also the plot really doesn't hang together, as pps say. And the dialogue is so clunky and forced. I don't know why I'm bothering really! Such a shame, I loved SL back when she was in Happy Valley.
