The latest Sarah Lancashire drama starts tonight, from the writer of Kirri and National Treasure. Anyone else planning to watch?

Ah sorry, I said BBC1, my TV catch up just said BBC Scotland so I assumed 1.
Anyway, it was fantastic, can't wait for next week.

BitOfFun · 27/10/2019 01:25

We have just watched it- it was brilliant!

NoSauce · 27/10/2019 08:20

Guilt is brilliant, watched it again when DH watched it.

thegreylady · 27/10/2019 09:45

I think the relevant comparison is that in all cases a whole community is affected by a preventable disaster though, obviously, The Accident would have had a much lesser impact than either Grenfell or Aberfan (except on the families of course).

JemimaTab · 27/10/2019 18:51

It’s an odd one alright. I absolutely loved National Treasure; also watched Kiri which was pretty good. This seems to be of a much lesser calibre somehow. Sarah Lancashire gave an interview to the Radio Times a couple of weeks ago where she said her character’s marriage was co-dependent and so it wasn’t domestic violence. I thought it was very odd at the time, and even odder after having seen the first episode.
I’m not sure where the Grenfell comparisons are coming from, although all the press reviews seem to mention this. I saw the writer had commented that he decided to change the direction of the show after Grenfell happened, but how and why isn’t clear.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/10/2019 16:18

It wasn’t terrible but could have been better

Subtitles help !!

Sl accent was awful

If the girls hadn’t broken in then there wouldn’t have been an explosion

You would feel guilt and relief. Guilt that all your friends had died but relief that you survived

Mum and Daughtrr

Lovely to see Steve baldini aka mlj 😍but didn’t like he fact he was a wife beater :(

Not sure of who the black man was who rescued sl daughter

He’s obv dodgy

PencilsInSpace · 28/10/2019 22:21

That was some very shit weird shit.

spiderlight · 29/10/2019 11:37

Oooh spooky - I watched The Accident last night, thought 'meh', and then stumbled upon Guilt on iPlayer afterwards and loved it. Have ordered DH to watch it so we can watch the rest of the series together.

MagicKingdom17 · 29/10/2019 13:19

We have just watched it on catch up. Meh.

Best part for me was seeing Nessa’s Dad & Pete Sutcliffe from Gavin & Stacey!

Myshitisreal · 29/10/2019 16:04

I can do a better Welsh accent 🤯 the domestic violence was a bit gratuitous 😔. Watching guilt of the back of this thread. Is there a thread for it,I can't find it. I will watch the rest of accident out of curiosity but its really quite terrible

MrsFezziwig · 30/10/2019 11:08

Think I’ll ditch this & try Guilt instead. Just about every aspect of the portrayal of the hospital and the injured girl was totally wrong. I guess that when none of the group of teenagers were answering their phones then you would get the realisation that they might be in the building, but it happened too quickly.
DV incident made me feel sick. Can’t imagine how anyone who watched it and had suffered actual DV would feel.

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/10/2019 12:39

Yes, where was that hospital, I've been in loads of Hospitals in my city with my asthma and all look more advanced than that one, and two have been knocked down in the last ten years since my asthma got badConfused
(For anyone in Glasgow, the western and the southern)

FlyingFlamingo · 30/10/2019 17:15

It’s an old Victorian mental hospital Ihavebrillohair, it’s in the process of being demolished for housing. It’s not our main trauma centre Grin

BestIsWest · 30/10/2019 20:54

Is it the one on the hill with the tower FlyingFlamingo?

Piggywaspushed · 31/10/2019 19:11

According to my planner it's not on tonight??

marmiteloversunite · 31/10/2019 19:29

It's on my guide. Channel 4 at nine.

BestIsWest · 31/10/2019 19:41

Not showing for us either. Is it because of the Grenfell Inquiry we wondered.

BestIsWest · 31/10/2019 19:42

Ie the report being issued yesterday?

Piggywaspushed · 31/10/2019 19:45

How odd. I have Virgin TV , if that's why...

BestIsWest · 31/10/2019 19:46

Virgin here too?

marmiteloversunite · 31/10/2019 20:02

I'm on Freeview. Just checked again in case I was going mad. Definitely in the guide. Not even sure I want to watch it. Grin

BestIsWest · 31/10/2019 20:07

Nor me, but DH does (he slept through most of last weeks).

SouthWestmom · 31/10/2019 20:56

Got it down as two on 7th?
