I really enjoyed this first ep. Especially Taki stabbing a boy in the thigh for putting his hand up her skirt, and the comment from her granddad that he was lucky to keep his cock.

I will be watching again, I think it's great, sort of Japanese/British Noir.

Davros · 17/10/2019 22:43

Rather unusual but I liked it. The cartoony bit was brilliant

fedup21 · 17/10/2019 22:45

I thought it was brilliant! The cinematography was very well done.

afrikat · 17/10/2019 22:47

I absolutely loved it, best thing I've seen in ages

Awrite · 17/10/2019 22:49

I was gripped from start to finish. Whole series is on iPlayer apparently.

Will watch more tomorrow night.

superoz · 17/10/2019 23:16

Thought this was great. Streamed it from iPlayer as had missed the beginning, after it finished there was a whole series trailer - though felt it was a bit spoilery, would rather not have known about what was coming next. Then saw they had put the whole series on there!
Loved the short film noir animation bit in the middle. There’s a lot of intrigue, I need to digest all the information from the first episode.

Awrite · 17/10/2019 23:20

Yeah, I thought that @Superoz. The trailer was never bloody ending.

And yes, so much happened that I need to absorb.

Davros · 18/10/2019 00:05

I turned off before the trailer but I'm guessing his daughter comes to London to join him

GypsyRoseTea · 18/10/2019 07:49

I loved it! Although I agree with the pp that the trailer afterwards was ‘spoilery’ Grin

Watching more tonight

MinesaPinot · 18/10/2019 14:22

I'm in with everyone who thinks that the trailer was spoilery - DH said that we might as well not bother watching the rest of the series.

Thought it was great though, very intriguing and I loved the animation in the middle. Good to have something a bit different rather than the usual formulaic dramas that we have had lately (although did love The Capture as well). We've got plenty of Catch up on Sky to watch, so will probably wait for next week's episode rather than doing a binge watch.

WhereShallWeGo · 18/10/2019 14:36

I loved it, too, and have a pile of ironing ready for tonight to watch it with. I managed to bore DH and DCs (teens) by trying to tell them the storyline at breakfast this morning.

Davros · 18/10/2019 20:45

They did give a warning before the trailer. I switched off

Awrite · 18/10/2019 23:13

I watched the second episode tonight. Didn't have a cartoon bit, which was disappointing.

Characters developed a wee bit more, glimpses of the politics of certain relationships and a couple of dodgy accents. Great fun.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 19/10/2019 12:38

I really enjoyed this, slow, atmospheric, stylish. Will probably binge watch it, it's so good!

mizu · 20/10/2019 10:12

Going to binge watch this too. A friend recommended. We lived in Japan for a couple of years in the late 90s at the same time so looking forward to it. Just got to find the time............

ImTheCaddy · 20/10/2019 10:33

I'm on episode 5 and it's excellent. It's as much of a work of art as it is good television.

Love the connection between the cities.

Cooroo · 20/10/2019 23:04

I watched 4 episodes today and am loving it.

ImTheCaddy · 21/10/2019 00:56

I've finished the lot now and I really enjoyed it.

Explanation through the medium of interpretive dance 🤷🏻‍♀️

SavageBeauty73 · 21/10/2019 23:39

I'm on episode 4. Really enjoying it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/10/2019 11:08

Glad I found a thread on this! Really enjoying it - a slow burn, characters you genuinely care about, and I love the recaps at the start of each episode. Have just finished episode 5 but I especially liked the exposition in 4.

The actor playing Kenzo is very attractive. So is Yuto actually, there's something of a younger Johnny Depp about him.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 23/10/2019 11:16

ooh, I looked for a thread on this the other day. I am really enjoying it - have watched the first six episodes. my H is 3 episodes behind so i might pause for a bit to let him catch up. I would have welcomed more of the animation though - it was striking and different. Also quite a fan of Yuto Wink.

implantsandaDyson · 23/10/2019 12:01

I'm so enjoying it. I'm five episodes in and am trying to be a grown up and ration myself on it Grin. Although I called up to my parents house this morning and made my mums week by telling her that all the episodes were on the iplayer. She didn't realise and had only watched two. I think she's getting ready to hunker in and watch it all -the Christmas stash of gin sweets may be unleashed in her house! She's quite the Kenzo fan and my dad adores Kelly McDonald.

Cooroo · 23/10/2019 17:34

Finished ... some unexpected moments in the last episode but surprisingly they worked. Can't say much more for now. I do rather love poor Rodney.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 23/10/2019 17:36

Loved it. Wasn't sure what was going on at the end but it was great. Really different.

CleopatraTomato · 25/10/2019 00:16

Also loved it. Really worth watching. Beautiful in parts and different.

superoz · 25/10/2019 00:49

Finished watching it. Thought it was brilliant, they packed a lot into the last 2 episodes and my jaw dropped a couple of times!

It was quirky and original, I loved how they injected a bit of humour in too. Loved all the main characters, especially Rodney.
