I really enjoyed this first ep. Especially Taki stabbing a boy in the thigh for putting his hand up her skirt, and the comment from her granddad that he was lucky to keep his cock.

I will be watching again, I think it's great, sort of Japanese/British Noir.

Finished it last night. Without a doubt one of the best things I've seen this year, I loved the touches of humour and the occasional really random interlude (what was that scene from the finale about??).

And Kenzo. My heart be still 💕

What else has Kenzo been in?

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/10/2019 09:55

I don't know @MotherOfSoupDragons but I intend to find out!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 25/10/2019 09:56

Ha ha. I was being lazy.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 25/10/2019 09:58

He's played Hamlet .

DoctorTwo · 25/10/2019 12:05

I love the character Rodney, he's hilarious and slightly tragic.

I finished it last night too, absolutely loved it, it was just gorgeous. I think I held my breath for the last two episodes!

mrsmuddlepies · 27/10/2019 12:18

I loved it, particularly the last episode. It was so beautifully done.
I don't know if anyone has already pointed out that Will Sharpe, who plays Rodney, starred in the drama/ sitcom, Defending the Guilty. He played a young barrister opposite Katherine Parkinson. No hint of any campness! He was brilliant in that too.
The interpretative dance will stay with me for a long time,
I loved it!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 27/10/2019 16:20

Also enjoying Will Sharp in the legal thing atm. He's great.

Osquito · 27/10/2019 18:56

It was brilliant!

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 30/10/2019 16:59

I've just finished too. Loved the strength of Kenzo's wife and mother in the last couple of episodes. The contemporary dance was stunning. Best thing on telly for ages.

DoctorTwo · 31/10/2019 22:27

Bloody hell! Confrontations are about to occur in both Tokyo and London. Roll on next Thursday.

VanGoghsDog · 03/11/2019 00:38

Just finished the series, absolutely loved it. Kenzo, Rodney and Abbot fave characters. Loved the humour and the humanity.

Assume a second series will come... .

ArsenicGreen · 07/11/2019 00:11

Wow!

SueDoeName · 07/11/2019 00:32

Rodney was my absolute fave character. Loved him . Ended on a bit of a
Cliff hanger I'm hoping for a second series

ArcheryAnnie · 07/11/2019 23:59

Absolutely blown away by this, especially the last episode. It shouldn't have worked, but by god it did. A real slow burn over eight episodes.

(Minor point but I loved playing Spot The Location in the London scenes, too.)

CatUnderTheStairs · 08/11/2019 12:30

Nearly finished it, it's so good. And hardly anyone in know in real life is watching it. I love the quirkyness.

Fatshedra · 08/11/2019 13:30

Everyone was skinny

AnnaNimmity · 08/11/2019 13:36

I'm loving this too. Just watched the episode with all the shooting in London and Tokyo. Like Kenzo and Rodney the best. Kelly whatserfaces acting is shockingly bad.

And yes Kenzo hmmm

Gfplux · 08/11/2019 19:21

It just gets better and better.

DappledThings · 08/11/2019 21:51

Minor point but I loved playing Spot The Location in the London scenes, too

A lot of it was filmed where I work.

superoz · 08/11/2019 23:15

Loved London location spotting too, so many of those places I’ve been familiar with. And the pub featured was our regular around the corner from where I used to work. Never saw any rent boys in there!

Kinraddie · 09/11/2019 10:08

Loved it; the rooftop scene in the last episode was fantastic. Very moving. The whole series was a breath of fresh air, never seen anything like it. Flawed characters throughout, but you grew to care for them. Some excellent dialogue. @Fatshedra is that really the only comment you can make? Kenzo's Japanese cop buddy was overweight as was the peace summit leader.

cannycat20 · 09/11/2019 22:05

Will Sharpe is also one of the characters in Flowers, if you haven't caught it already (I think it's still on Netflix) - he also wrote it. It's a hidden gem of a show; you think at first it's a fairly standard sitcom and then as the episodes go on it becomes much more.

He's a very talented young man - one to watch, I reckon!
