We go on holiday next week Private - we’re staying quite near to where Rafa is getting married so I might stake out the venue to see if there might be any gatecrashing opportunities

I think the final of the Rafa tournament is when we’re in Mallorca - wonder if I can persuade the rest of the family that this is a holiday “must do” (probably not !) I wonder who else is playing?

Well I’ve downloaded a free ticket for the tennis tournament so who knows - it’s all in Spanish (understandably) so had to get DS1 to translate for me. I could also go to the Rafa museum for 5 Euros!

There was an interview with Medvedev in the paper this morning. I wasn't aware he had a massive falling out on court with Tsistipas last year and now refuses to acknowledge him. Even though their mums are good friends and the two of them shared a private jet to or from Montreal recently!

The Medvedev / Tsistipas incident was in Miami last year. The article doesn't say what it was about but the umpire had to separate the two players!

I read that about Carlos Ramos as well kazza - apparently he couldn’t leave his hotel room for a day after last year’s final because of worries for his safety - that’s just awful. I bet most umpires breathe a sigh of relief if they’re not umpiring Serena or Dick.

I’m having to rethink my opinion of Medvedev now - he’s seemed like a nice bloke these last few weeks but Raahh reminded me of the coin tossing incident and now he’s fallen out with Stefanos .

Yes that flight must have been interesting but at least they weren’t squashed up together in economy seats!

I don't mind a bit of "aggro" as David Law would say, and I think Medvedev keeps to just about the right side of it - he doesn't stray into Kyrgios territory - or he hasn't yet, anyway. So I don't mind him really.

That's awful about Carlos Ramos, poor bloke. There's apparently a system where the umpires register any players they've had big arguments with recently, and then it's decided whether or not they should umpire that players matches again - something like that anyway. I don't know how it was decided he wouldn't umpire Serena's matches though.

In 2015, Rafa requested that Carlos Bernardes didn't umpire him.

Private do you know who else is playing in the Rafa tournament? I can’t seem to find much information other than Andy Murray is playing and the tickets are free.

It is sponsored by Sotheby’s so I thought the prize money would be more generous

Fizzy I've seen the draw somewhere, will try and find it again. There were 4-5 players I'd heard of other than Andy. Lukas Rosol is playing, strangely - as is Sergey Stakhovsky. Andy is playing one of the higher ranked guys there, but I can't remember his name!
