Looks like we have two months to catch this on ITV Hub before they disappear again.

May I suggest that we start each post in bold with the episode being discussed? Like, Episode 1 ? And try to discuss episodes at a similar rate, so we're not discussing episode 10 within the first 20 posts?

How is Olivia gaslighting?

cavachon · 29/07/2019 21:01

I think series two and three are miles ahead in terms of entertainment then the ones over the last couple of years. Not sure which is worse this years or last...
I loved it when Adam came in and his row with Liana and he was eating his rice cakes 😂

Nirvana1979 · 29/07/2019 21:18

Im on episode 19 at the moment.

Sophie seemed like a lovely down to earth girl, its really sad watching her actually. Tom is horrible, she actually looks scared of him the first few episodes.

Cara and Nathan, recognise them from somewhere but cant figure out where.

spinyffud · 29/07/2019 21:20

Nirvana1978

They both make appearance on townie since LI ended

Nirvana1979 · 29/07/2019 21:30

Ah yeah thanks, friends with Tommy Mallet?

Lilyofthefields · 29/07/2019 22:11

@ainsliec I think you’ve misread my post Smile

ep26

I'm finding Tom and Sophie increasingly difficult to watch. She seems so anxious. To me it screams coercive control.

Macca84 · 30/07/2019 00:02

I keep getting these little thoughts about Sophie throughout, like "she's a class girl! Why haven't I followed her on insta yet?". Then I remember the poor girl isn't with us anymore Sad She just seemed so genuine and likeable. I agree with the PP who said ep 38 was pure bullying. It was. If anyone says LI isn't to blame, they're wrong. Being ignored by everyone on national TV would be something that would damage you forever. Definitely a contributing factor and I'm so glad itv have upped their aftercare game.

Wrongdissection · 30/07/2019 11:44

Series 2 is brilliant, I might watch it again but I agree, Tom was not a nice man.

ainsliec · 30/07/2019 11:56

The smoking area is where all the best chats are

Macca84 · 31/07/2019 00:05

Definitely the best chats, it did make me want a fag though when watching them though (quit 10 years ago) Grin

ThomasFurious · 31/07/2019 08:47

I was the person that suggested we all watch it together and have a thread, but I'm not sure I can watch Sophie tbh.

Hasn't the head of ITV recently denied that it was a contributing factor? Nasty.

Macca84 · 31/07/2019 09:29

I did read that too, they apparently said it was 'weird' and/or 'odd' that some thought love island was to blame. I don't think it was directly because of the show, but the way she was treat then clearly no support from itv afterwards was a major contributor. She actually says in the diary room (whatever it is on LI) and tells them "nobody is talking to me" - it was actually heartbreaking to watch.

cavachon · 31/07/2019 10:01

I remember feeling sad for Sophie as well. Everyone just turned on her it was nasty. She said after the show producers locked her somewhere separate while everyone outside talked about her once. Matches a similar story another ex Islander raised in an article I read the other day about the way they are treated by producers.
Sophie was my favourite girl she was certainly the most real and genuine

ClubSandwich · 31/07/2019 10:38

I’ve nearly finished season 2 and agree with you all on Sophie. It’s been difficult to watch her throughout, from her relationship with Tom and his jealousy/insecurity and how she appeared scared to challenge him, just putting up with it for an easy life, to how most of them acted upon the whole Katie thing and isolating her in the villa. It’s changed my opinion on most of them now.

Also don’t like Adam (the original), he’s a dick. Think the Sophie situation has changed my view on the girls I did like.

Lilyofthefields · 31/07/2019 13:46

I'm way behind, on episode 3 and am struck by two things. Firstly, the posturing of the men (especially Danny - I'd love one of the men to say, "And what? What if I crack on with Olivia?").

The other thing is how drunk they sound, often with slurred speech on an evening.

Glitterfisher · 31/07/2019 16:42

I am only on episode 3 so I need to watch a bit more to catch up with the thread.

1st thoughts are how awful Tom is, so controlling and manipulating. Don't like Zara, too needy and intense, at the moment she is showing why she can't make a relationship work. Dan is awful too, so aggressive, he'd literally known Olivia 5 mins and was so possessive it was ridiculous.

Not sure re Nathan, he was pretty awful that one night but not sure if it was a crazy drunken blip.

Sophie is beautiful, she seems so natural. I hope she dumps Tom soon.

I wanted to write this so I remembered how I felt to see if my impressions of them changes.

Lilyofthefields · 31/07/2019 17:06

Which one is Zara?

OP posts:
ClubSandwich · 31/07/2019 19:06

Blonde one @Lilyofthefields

Miss GB...who doesn’t want everyone to know she’s Miss GB...but mentions it almost every opportunity she gets! Grin

I finished season 2, well I actually got to episode 40 and couldn’t be arsed to see it through to the end as I already knew who was gonna win and figured it would be all the cheesy declarations of love for the last few eps.

So now on season 1 🙈 (I know I need to get a life)

Lilyofthefields · 31/07/2019 19:27

Ah yes! That was funny.

I am on episode 9. The one thing I really like is that they all have different looks, I can't believe how much things have changed in just a few years, I can't stand this look all young girls seem to have now, dead straight hair, huge eyebrows, massive lips and make up that is only normal in photographs. The girls on S2 all look great.

Dan and Nathan have calmed down a bit I think, Cady is so whiny as is Zara still. Still not sure about Tom.

WindFlower92 · 01/08/2019 12:03

Another one rewatching series 2! It's so much more natural, and much better without people 'pulling' for a chat. I love Cara, Malin and Olivia, not really that fussed on any of the men though.

parkagain · 01/08/2019 13:01

Wait til Alex arrives

Glitterfisher · 01/08/2019 13:54

Am watching the Willy challenge Grin

Cara is very pretty, I really like her. I have no idea what happens in this series but I am desperate for Sophie to ditch Tom. He freaks me out but she is onto him already from a few things she has said.

Glitterfisher · 01/08/2019 13:57

Can't believe how much sex there is, series 5 lot were so boring in comparison. I saw a bit of series 4 and that was pretty tame. Is series 1 any good?
