Well sky has hardly any tennis anymore, sadly. The women's tour is still on Eurosport currently but that's moving to Amazon as well (not sure when ,- but i think fairly soon).

So I think Amazon prime is the best place to find most of the action these days.

Ah x-postJane.

It's so annoying about Amazon. I didn't notice our sky bill reducing when they got rid of all the tennis either Hmm

JaneJeffer · 14/07/2019 23:06

No. That Sky bloke never rang us back either after my earful about the tennis Grin

There's also tennistv but I don't know much about it www.tennistv.com/

oooh , just still reading this - we have an Amazon fire stick - is that the same thing as Amazon Prime ? ( clueless - we are friends /family part of DD's subscription )

Report
Fizzywinegum · 15/07/2019 07:42

bookbook you will probably be able to watch Amazon Prime on the fire stick but you will still need to subscribe to Amazon Prime. It’s my DS who has the subscription and we can still watch it so not sure if that will be the case for you with your DDs subscription.

It’s rubbish that most tennis is now on Prime - the coverage isn’t great but is improving a bit.

I’ve still got TAW to watch - will be sad when the music finishes Sad. Cricket seems to have overshadowed the tennis a bit.

Morning! I got side tracked people demanding things- love the last minute ' I need this for school ' requests. Hmm

I have TAW to watch. I agree the men's final will over shadow the women's. I doubt that would happen if Serena had won, 24th title and all that,Hmm But I've seen some lovely pictures of Simone, she seems a truly worthy winner.

Jane what you have to hope for, is that Murray continues his doubles stuff. At some point the BBC will cave and show his matches somehow. I guarantee. Grin

I have really needed the distraction over the past few weeks, so will need to find something to fill the gap.

Morning. Feel a bit meh - WTF am I going to do today?? Grin

I feel a bit like that magi. I asked DH what I did before Wimbledon and he said “um watch the french open, watch queens ...” I suppose he’s got a point Grin. I need to find some more tennis to watch.

I’m so deflated today.

Thankfully I have Amazon Prime, so can watch there. Not quite the same though.

I get frustrated by Amazon Prime, sometimes it works and doesn't glitch/go off mid match, and other times it is just really sporadic.

It worked ok, for the US Open - but the way they filmed/broadcast it was just odd, and I hope they change some of the camera angles.
They have to take some of the gazillion negative reviews on board, surely. Grin.

Sad feeling all gloomy.

Loved the pictures of Simona as well, she looks like she is really enjoying it all. Good on her.

magi sadly I feel the same, what can I do now?! Can you do one of your nice sea swims or is it not nice enough weather?

I've got TAW to watch as well, and the women's final. I hope TAW has a nice round-up of the tournament and not just all about the final.

All the papers are raving about it today - it was a weird match, really tense but not exactly brilliant (or am I just feeling jaded). Rafa v Djok last year was a million times better than this (although the wrong result, obviously Grin).

The Newport tournament is on this week (come on, you know you're excited!). Some thread mentions like Dennis Kudla, Matthew Ebden etc are playing. I'm not sure if it's still played on grass - I know it used to be, back in the days when Greg won it Grin

Raahh · 15/07/2019 10:06

Private I know what you mean- there will be loads made of it being the longest final ever, but longest isn't always better. Who will ever want to sit through Anderson/Isner or Isner /Mahut again? Grin. It will be called a 'classic'- maybe the end, but not the whole match.

The last set- which took 2 hours apparently was great. But I was bored for the first couple of sets. I know it's a lot harder to get involved when you aren't really supporting anyone. Grin but to start with even the crowd felt flat.

I'm pretty sure Newport is still grass.

I've walked the dog already today (before it gets too warm) - and I'm meant to be mowing the grass.
I don't want to. Grin.

I've been reading too much on the FWR boards. I have to keep reminding myself what TAW really means. Grin

Thanks Private. I'm feeling a bit rubbish about it all - why couldn't we share?! It was a fantastic spectacle, though, and I hope it has inspired a lot of children to take up cricket.

I have Prime so I'll be joining you all for the US Open. It worked fine for me last year so I hope it does again!

GrinI dont' know if TAW has just been playing continuously on the RB- but I watched some, and then decided I'd watch it later, and went to mow the back garden.

Came back- to the exact same bit I was watching before! (Tim wittering about how many aces Fed had served all tournament).

Maybe the dog paused it for me??!

Oh heck, I've clearly seen repeats of this last set too many times now.
I can quote it.

'Fed has found the inside edge again'

I wonder what Tim is doing today. Probably up a ladder somewhere...

Meanwhile I'm having an existential crisis. Who am I if I'm not watching tennis?

Send help.

I amused myself trying to work out the 11 other Slam winners that Claire mentioned in TAW (Rafa/Roger/Djok have won 54 of the last 65 slams)

Obviously there is Murray and Stan with 3 each, Delpo, Cilic... then I remembered Safin and Gaudio (Pointless answer that one Grin) I forgot Roddick's US open win in 2003. Which is bad since it was his only slam win (sorry Andy!).

And yes- as I am sitting here, the episode of TAW on the RB has come to an end -and it's all starting again!

They played the Wimbledon theme at the end. But they used to show an extended one (with all the people involved in the tournament named). I used to like that.

I've just discovered there is new series of 'Red Rock' (they always put it on over the summer when Doctors isn't on).

That's me sorted later Grin

Red Rock?! I hadn't heard of this but it sounds like something I should be watching. I didn't realise Doctors had a summer break Raahh!! Shock

There are about 1000 episodes of Chesapeake Shores on Netflix so that should keep me going for a while. Not to mention my Midsomer recordings

Blimey, 54 of the last 65 Slams. They're good and everything, but variety is the spice of life and all that - well, allegedly.

Actually Rafa can keep on winning, but the other two should let someone else have a turn.

Someone that we like I mean, of course Grin
