wtf is it about ?! We caught an episode before DSD this morning , kids are really too old for CBeebies so it has (fortuitously) passed us by until now. What planet (or drugs) are the "writers" on ? It is curiously hypnotic though ....

growingbagpuss · 03/08/2007 09:05

Twas me!! I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

Loobeeloo · 03/08/2007 13:04

Pelvicfloornomore, could you email the mp3's to me at [email protected] so I can amaze my ds with ITNG ringtone?

I would be most grateful

Meeely2 · 03/08/2007 13:33

i am another fan i'm afraid....I FORCE the kids to watch it! It does help with bedtime, cos they know once the tittifers have sung their song it's time for bed. We bought the tiny plushes from tesco of makka pakka and iggle piggle, but we will be getting others.

Both the boys now imitate the pontipines...they squeak a bit then do the little fart that daddy pontipine does!

I really don't think there is any harm in it at all....has taught mine to count, taught them about bedtime (actually they always been good sleepers) and my god does it relax me too after the end of a very long day...the music starts and i know it's half an hour to bed time!

lissie · 03/08/2007 13:39

we love it in our house, ds gets his blanket and snuggles down with me when it starts, i even miss hollyoaks for it!

tribpot · 03/08/2007 13:50

I love it - although it is barking mad.

I assume we've covered in another thread how the whole thing is a dream of Iggle Piggle's?

Natty - I can do you a dvd if you would like, to keep you going til November. Drop me a line on tribunicia underscore potestas at hotmail dot com

Lolly68 · 03/08/2007 14:51

Is it really a dream of Iggle Piggle's? How amazing is that!!??

My DD starts crying at the end of the programme because she knows its nearly bedtime!

wheelsonthebus · 03/08/2007 15:06

what amazes me is that derek jacobi is the narrator. when he sings "ickle pickle" song, i just crack up. Once he was treading the boards as I Claudius....is this the way all careers go

wheelsonthebus · 03/08/2007 15:11

(there are great print-outs of the night garden characters to colour in on the cbeebies website).

Lolly68 · 03/08/2007 16:18

I have searched high and low for ringtones and cannot find them anywhere!

Loobeeloo · 03/08/2007 16:24

Can anyone help with the Night Garden ringtones?

tribpot · 03/08/2007 19:39

Lolly, my theory is based on:

  • the fact that Iggle Piggle goes to sleep on the boat far away from land (Ellen McArthur stylee?) at the start of every episode
  • he then arrives outside the Night Garden and is taken inside, either on the Ninky Nonk or the Pinky Ponk.
  • everyone else has a home/bed to sleep in/is tethered in one spot a la Ha-hoos, whereas at the end of the episode, Iggle Piggle is still awake
  • at which point Derek "isn't that a pip" Jacobi (and yes, that phrase will haunt him for the rest of his life) says "time to go, Iggle Piggle" - and we're back to the boat.

I could write a PhD thesis on this - and I bet one day someone will!

Beauregard · 03/08/2007 19:43

Loobeeloo-Dp wiped the mp3's off his laptop today!
Will try and bluetooth them back though.

Loobeeloo · 03/08/2007 21:46

Thank you thank you and once again I thank you!

Beauregard · 03/08/2007 21:48

No probs

mummyto2littleprincess · 03/08/2007 21:50

sorry but these things look rather scary

Loobeeloo · 03/08/2007 21:51

Any ringtones you want let me know I seem to have thousands of 'em. Some quite sad I'm afraid but some quite groovy and retro if I do say so myself!

ShinyHarryPplHoldingPortkeys · 03/08/2007 21:57

DS (7 with SN) loves ITNG. That's good enough for me.

He and DH fall about laughing together saying "IgglePiggle, MakkaPakka, Upsy Daisy Doooooooo"

V. cute.

(DH does not have any known SN btw.. so unsure what his excuse is!)

Beauregard · 03/08/2007 22:00

cheers loobeeloo i may just do that

ShinyHarryPplHoldingPortkeys · 03/08/2007 22:00

Scary? I'll tell you whats scary!

Those horrid woolen things that run around manically on the Vauxhall Corsa adverts. They haunt me!!

I was putting petrol in the other say when I turned and saw a picture of them on a the pump.. I nearly dropped the nozzle in horror!

startouchedtrinity · 03/08/2007 22:04

I love ITNG, so do both dds. My eldest is 5 and cried evry tim eit finished untiul we taped some - now her little sister has watched them over and over so she's fed up with it! Rather strangely I cry at it too - particularly the opening credits - think it's a big mix of the bedtime scene making me miss dd1's baby bedtimes, and the music reminding me of my own childhood tv - Bagpuss maybe?

And Derek Jacobi is just a star - he sent himself up beautifully in Frasier.

growingbagpuss · 04/08/2007 08:39

thats a good point - its is a little like the start of bagpuss isn't it?
I hadn't thought of it as being Iggle Piggle's dream though -that's quite sweet.... also perhaps a little pervy... as he dreams of constantly kissing upsy daisy...

yogabird · 04/08/2007 22:07

ok - in the night garden music is on youtube here

uk.youtube.com/watch?v=K8AFJhFqkF4

what do i have to do next to get it onto my phone pleeeeeease? Anyone?

And, moreover, why does it not duisplay as a link to click on to as it claims it will under all the smiley and other expressions? oooh! it just did when i previewed it! Can't tell you how excited i am!

Sidge · 04/08/2007 22:30

My DD2 is 3.5 and adores ITNG, so much so that if we miss it she gets quite upset! She has SN and can't talk but comes and draws a little circle on my hand when it's time for the programme

Is there anyone out there who has it on a hard drive recorder that would make me a DVD of it for her (and me ) - to keep us going till September when they release the official DVD?

I would of course reimburse you for the costs, P&P etc.

Beauregard · 05/08/2007 09:44

Sidge-If you go on the BBC shop site you can buy the dvd's already.

Beauregard · 05/08/2007 09:45
