Thanks for new thread, private & love the puns!

JaneJeffer · 21/05/2019 14:24

Thanks Private, your thread title has more cheese than France Grin

magi for the love of all that is holy please delete that picture of AC from all your devices.

Fizzywinegum · 21/05/2019 14:47

Thanks Private and yes magi get rid of that AC picture - stuff of nightmares Grin.

I think Djok does wear contact lenses - he does a lot of that wide eyed thing! I’m sure a few years ago he had to withdraw from a tournament because he thought one of his contact lenses had come out and kept putting another one in his eye - it seems like a pretty dim thing to do but I do sympathise a bit as my eyes are a bit dodgy. That’s the only sympathy he is getting from me though.

kazzaD66 · 21/05/2019 15:03

Jeez magi I'd hate to get on the wrong side of you! If I knew how could be arsed, I'd post pics of Tim and Stan til the cows came home BearBearGrin

Great title private it may be cheesy but it made me laugh Grin

I see Dan Evans has been given a wild card for Queens. I can't wait for the run of tournaments I'll finally be able to watch! Tennis

Grin

I'm coming to the tail end of a hideous migraine ( I hope) and have been cheered up by your ramblings.

Djok definitely wears contacts, I'm sure there was am incident where his eyes were affected and he lost A match ( could have been IW a few years back).

Reason I'm here, is I've just read an article that quotes Dick Kyrgios as saying all clay tournamys should be scrapped- there speaks a sore loser.

He's been practicing with Murray and would like to see RG cancelled and more grass.

Murray ( who I'm no fan of) goes further down in .y estimation for, after last week, going anywhere near the jerk.

My head hurts. Sad

Raahh · 21/05/2019 16:15

Apologies for the typos.

Raahh · 21/05/2019 16:17

fizzy I think that's the Djok incident I'm thinking of.

I could never wear mine if I was going near anywhere gritty or sandy, I'm not sure how he doesn't get more problems.

Raahh · 21/05/2019 16:19

And yes , private the title is Grin

kazzaD66 · 21/05/2019 16:32

Hope you feel better soon Raahh .My mum had migraines virtually all her life, so I know they are not "just a bad headache" Smile

magimedi · 21/05/2019 16:50

Yup, I remember Djok having contact lens problems over the years. He quite often does that odd thing of opening his eyes really wide - am sure it's to shift his lenses.

I love Murray, but can not for the life of me, see what he sees in Kygrios.

Raahh · 21/05/2019 17:04

Thanks kazza this one has lasted 3 days so far, dh is away on a business trip til Thursday, and it's like all the rubbish has happened at once.

Regarding kyrgios- one of the lines in the article is ' the French Open sucks, absolutely sucks compared to this place' ( not sure where he was practicing, may have been Wimbledon. )
If he thinks so little if it, he should skip it, let a qualifier have his spot. And skip the clay season next time- no one will miss you, you aren't that important.
I think there should be a yellow card system in tennis. He's had too many chances, and gets away with a fine, sure . But suspending him would be more effective- don't let him play Wimbledon. That might get him where it hurts

It's really got on my nerves, can you tell?Grin

PrivateIsles · 21/05/2019 17:14

Raahh that migraine sounds awful, I hope it goes away ASAP. I get migraines but they don't sound anything like as bad as yours, they're usually gone within a day and that's bloody bad enough!! Hope you're on the mend soon.

Re Kyrgios, I would like to see the French rescind his entry into the draw, I wonder what he would do?!

The Murrays seem fond of Kyrgios don't they, which makes me think there must be something I'm missing - or not?!

I thought you lot would appreciate a punning title Grin - I was trying to get "Seine-sation" in there as well but I couldn't think of how to word it!

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 21/05/2019 17:31

Private after exciting you could have added "and Seine-sational!" WinkGrin

PrivateIsles · 21/05/2019 17:32

Argh yes!!

Fizzywinegum · 21/05/2019 17:34

Hope your migraine gets better soon Raahh - I would much rather Kyrgios didn’t play in the French or any tournament for that matter. I don’t like him at all.

I’m not sure why the Murrays are so keen on him - maybe it’s because Andy was ‘misunderstood’ by the press when he was younger and feels some sympathy for him? Who knows - I generally think that Andy Murray talks a lot of sense especially to do with women in sport but I don’t agree with him about Kyrgios.

On the tennis podcast they were more or less saying that maybe he couldn’t help himself with what he says and how he behaves on the court but I’m not so sure.

JaneJeffer · 21/05/2019 17:36
Grin Wimbledon was meant for classy people like Kyrgios Hmm
PrivateIsles · 21/05/2019 17:39

Jane I was thinking if he did pair up with Murray, he would get so much attention, Centre Court every time, people would be loving him - can you imagine?

Bit late to party on this - but speculating - did Djokovitch look so crap in the Rome Open because of his diet. I may be an ignoramus but his vegan gluten free diet is going to struggle to give him enough to sustain him over 3 gruelling matches in 2 days.

Not taking away from Rafa at all. Who was fab.

By the way he did go inside after winning to do his hair didn't he?
Cute!

Fizzywinegum · 21/05/2019 18:45

Hi Adelie I’ve often wondered that about Djok and his diet - he’s very thin and often looks as if he’s really low on energy - he needs a bit of sustenance I think!

I noticed that about Rafa and his hair as well - he’s done it before but I’ve not seen him win a final for a while.

Are you a Rafa fan or just interested in tennis in general? Sorry if you’ve been on the thread before but didn’t recognise your user name.

PrivateIsles · 21/05/2019 18:57

Adelie good question about Djok - I mean, how does he get enough protein for a start - I'm completely ignorant of vegan diets I must say, so obviously there are ways of getting protein (lentils?!) but how's that enough for a top athlete?

I guess it works for him though. Didn't he write a diet book at one time?

I didn't notice the hair thing with Rafa - ah bless him. I'd do the same if I was about to be photographed by the international press (and I'd probably still look like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards Hmm)

OP posts:
Adelie0404 · 21/05/2019 21:29

I am a big tennis fan but have definite soft spot for Rafa.

I would do the same as him for sure - hedge and backwards indeed - I just know he didn't do the hair thing when he was younger - and let's face it, his hair is not his best feature, bless him.

I think vegan food is not going to sustain Djokovic if he does intense matches in a row. I remember reading about elite athletes and how they can burn thousands of calories. I bet in a 5 setter they get through a lot. Happy to be corrected by a vegan though!

Fizzywinegum · 21/05/2019 22:12

Poor Rafa - he did seem to be in a bit of a hurry to sort his hair out!

They showed footage of when he first won in Rome when he had long hair and long shorts - he looked amazing but I guess we’ve all changed along the years. I still like him anyway Smile

Raahh · 22/05/2019 17:55

I have been trying to catch up with various things. Starting to feel a bit more human.

I see that Dimitrov's nightmare continues in Geneva- I suppose the plus side he didn't lose in qualifying. But he lost in the first round instead to Delbonis.

JaneJeffer · 22/05/2019 18:12

Glad you're feeling better Raahh

I see Tomas Berdych has pulled out of RG. He always does the decent thing and doesn't go ahead if he's not feeling up to it and gives someone else a shot. Hope he's in form for the grass.
