Jane yes, that's the right thing to do.
I'm hoping Dick Kyrgios gets the reception at RG that his comments deserve (and that he's drawn against French players- there's no tournament I've ever watched that gets a more partisan crowd than RG- regardless of how low in the ranking the player is-not even Wimbledon. Ok... possibly Melbourne (the Aussies tend to be more vocal)Grin

JaneJeffer · 22/05/2019 18:34

They should just ignore him. He wouldn't like that.

Raahh · 22/05/2019 18:36

Oh, he definitely craves attention.

And I hate myself for giving him any thought Grin.

JaneJeffer · 22/05/2019 18:36

A couple of cheery photos

Aww- baby Miguel . Very cute. He will be one good looking kid.

Rafa laughing always makes me smile. Grin

PrivateIsles · 22/05/2019 19:05

I love those photos Jane - especially the one of little Miguel!!

Happy birthday to Novak - hope someone makes him a nice healthy cake! Cake

I didn't realise Grigor lost already - bloody hell, he's having a shocker isn't he?

Good decision by the Berd, remember when he had that amazing winning streak recently - was it at the Aus Open?! Then Rafa knocked him out in the end (I think)?

I haven't listened to the Rafa story on the pod yet, looking forward to tuning in soon.

oh yes, Happy Birthday Novak. Bear.I'm sure he will be indulging in a suitably joyless , flavourless, cake free from everything that makes cake, well, cake Grin. Or maybe birthday cake is a once a year treat? Grin.

Would he have had a glug of champagne on Sunday , like Rafa did?(I did find that funny, it nearly went all over him).

JaneJeffer · 22/05/2019 19:45

I had a google to see what vegan cake is like and came across this
"A vegan cake may be healthier for the environment and it may contain fewer saturated fats than a non-vegan cake but it's not a health food and shouldn't be eaten too often. However a slice of vegan cake is healthier than having two slices of vegan cake."
Well duh

Grin
PrivateIsles · 22/05/2019 20:40

Grin well I hope Novak doesn't overdo it on the slices!!

My DH bought me one of those Free From cakes for my birthday a couple of years ago - I don't have a gluten allergy/intolerance so I think it must have just been the first thing he saw on the shelf Grin It was ok actually - if a bit on the solid side.

For goodness sake! I've had a G&T and nearly half a bottle of red wine tonight! I might get run over by a bus tomorrow although I doubt it cos I don't walk anywhere near buses! but you have to try to enjoy your life! (Can I just say though, I haven't had any alcohol since Sunday lunchtime!) Grin

JaneJeffer · 22/05/2019 20:53

We believe you kazza Wink

Fizzywinegum · 22/05/2019 21:48

Lovely photos Jane - baby Miguel Smile.

I so hope that Kyrgios is drawn against a French player - the Paris crowd certainly don’t hold back - good!

I’ve finally caught up on the Wimbledon court no 1 thing - I really enjoyed it. I loved it when Goran won Wimbledon when he was a wild card and ranked 156 in the world and had two shirts and three racquets - brilliant.

I also think the reason AC was so subdued was that he thought he should have been out there playing.

Vegan cake is not very nice - can be a bit dry. This is a popular time for tennis players birthdays. Can’t really see Djok letting his hair down and having proper cake and champagne.

kazzaD66 · 22/05/2019 22:10

Fizzy Grin your views on AC Grin although I thought he perked up (unfortunately) after the first match. Probably couldn't believe he was in the same commentary booth as Martina Navratilova Grin

PrivateIsles · 23/05/2019 10:53

Ah Fizzy yes that was my favourite Wimbledon ever, when Goran won. It made everything right with the world! It was interesting hearing him talking about it again - especially when he said about the 92 final, which he should definitely have won - but Andre's returns were on fire, IIRC.

Btw more tennis listening, the BBC sounds/iPlayer whatever it's called these days, has pre-French Open chat/previews etc available at the mo.

Oh also I saw Stan lost in Geneva (was 3-0 up in third set) and Zverev beat Gulbis - Zverev still going strong and into the QFs today.

I see that Katie Swan has won her second qualifying match but Heather Watson is out. Don't think there are any British men in the qualies?

PrivateIsles · 23/05/2019 14:38

Heather had match points as well Sad

I thought Jay Clarke was in qualifying but not sure how he got on.

kazzaD66 · 23/05/2019 15:18

Oh Heather! What is it with the Brits and not being able to close out a match Hmm

Just Googled Jay Clarke, he lost in the first round.

PrivateIsles · 23/05/2019 15:30

Oh dear.

I know, poor Heather. I'd love her to go on a good run.

THIS will be an interesting documentary about trans women in sport , fronted by Martina.

JaneJeffer · 23/05/2019 16:27

I hope that Martina stands her ground. I'm a bit worried that the BBC is going to try to get her to backtrack.

Raahh · 23/05/2019 16:36

Has this lovely picture been posted yet?
