It's here.

Eight seasons of love, hate, family, battles, history, mystery, myth and legend.

After laying waste to Kings' Landing, what next for Daenerys? Does destiny feel good when you kill thousands of innocents to reach it?

I will really miss these characters and their stories. Epic, must-watch television is rare. Will we ever see its like again?

And now our watch is ended.

Checking in but I won't be able to watch until tomorrow night.

Ineedtobuyafan

Thank you for that video, I hadn't seen it before and enjoyed it. Reminded me a bit of doing an 'A' level essay comparing and contrasting two characters. 😀

Does anyone think they will watch the 'prequel' show or shows, when they are made? I think I would spend all my time going "oh so that's Ned Stark's great great great grandfather, and relating everything back to the characters we know.

I’m sad it’s ending

BurntSausage · 19/05/2019 13:06

Christ, I’m thick as mince - just read an article that points out that Tyrion has a claim to the throne as Cersei’s heir. Why has that not occurred to me before? COULD IT BE TRUE? Tyrion for King! I love hiiiiiiiimmmmm.

BurntSausage · 19/05/2019 13:11

Here’s the article btw, it’s just various questions and theories, no spoilers. Although I haven’t read the comments: www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2019/may/19/who-will-kill-daenerys-the-questions-we-need-answered-game-of-thrones-finale-hbo-season-eight

BurntSausage · 19/05/2019 13:12

DH has just pointed out that the Lannisters didn’t have a legitimate claim anyway. Boo. I liked that idea!

fancynancyclancy · 19/05/2019 13:25

Is it actually possible to rule in that world without being ruthless?

fancynancyclancy · 19/05/2019 13:27

Is it possible to rule in that world without being ruthless though?

Giggorata · 19/05/2019 13:32

Robert Baratheon didn’t really have a legitimate claim to the throne, before leading the rebellion. He did have a smidge of Targaryen blood
So rebellion + blood = claim.
Possibly some of the other houses have distant Targ ancestors, too.

fancynancyclancy · 19/05/2019 13:37

sorry for the double post.

Maybe Dany will kill everyone & end up on the throne. It seems the most realistic as she has all the power.

Giggorata · 19/05/2019 13:40

Just before the previous thread closed (so I don't know if anyone saw it) I imagined Bran warging into Drogon and crashing into the ground, killing them both... drastic, but solves a big problem.

Giggorata · 19/05/2019 13:41

Killing Dany as well, I mean

DragonglassHeart · 19/05/2019 13:41

I'm scared. But still staying up all night to watch at 2am.

I think Dany will try and dracarys Tyrion and Drogon will refuse.

Other than that I just want Arya, Tyrion, and Brienne to survive.

I think Sansa will be on the throne.

Already emotional and not helped by listening to The Night King theme over and over again.

Just trying to work out the timings to watch all of S8 again, finishing just in time for this episode.

Also wondering whether to warn my neighbours in case of involuntary loud yells/screams/sobbing.

FadedRed · 19/05/2019 13:42

Maybe Daenerys will just fly back to her loverboy in Mereen and leave Westeros to the Westerosi?

yumyumpoppycat · 19/05/2019 13:50

One thing I am really happy about is we are all still talking about game of thrones - unlike walking dead where there were really interesting chats on here but sadly now only a few people still seem to be interested. So although I am sad it's ending I am glad it isn't going to continue to the point where we are all bored.

ineedtobuyafan · 19/05/2019 13:50

BurntSausage
There is a pretty good video analysis on which I'd be pretty happy with. He gets on well with Sansa and respects here, as she does him, so Tyrion could rule the south and Sansa the north. I don't think the rest are up to sitting on the throne with any success.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 19/05/2019 13:57

Checking in and hoping to stay awake to watch the finale Smile

WeirdCatLady · 19/05/2019 14:00

I’ve read the spoilers (don’t panic, I’m not saying anything!) so I’m anticipating hating ep6 as much as 4 and 5. I think they’ve really given themselves far too much to cover in the final 13 episodes. They should have done three full series rather than two shortened ones. I totally understand wanting to move onto new projects but I do feel they have spoiled what was an amazing show.

Obviously the acting has still been excellent, and I do hope that the costumes, effects, props, stunts and music teams get the recognition their excellent work deserves. I won’t, however, be making any efforts to watch anything that D&D do in future.

SweetSummerchild · 19/05/2019 14:24

Yes, I think seasons 7 and 8 really have to be viewed as one long season.

The scary part is that the Winds of Winter will broadly cover season 6 and A Dream of Spring will broadly cover seasons 7 and 8. Given how much material has bene left out of the show, the final book will either have to leave just as many unanswered questions as the show or it will have to be split into even more books. Or, more likely, it will just never be published.

It’s all ending rather messily. On the plus side, at least the show will give us an ending.

Leontine · 19/05/2019 14:24

My main hope for tonight is that we get to see Brienne again. Her story ending with what happened in episode 4 would be an absolute travesty.

Leontine · 19/05/2019 14:27

@summer Realistically he’s not going to finish the books is he? Sad I just wish that he’d been brought on to finish the show so at least one of them would be finished properly.

Giggorata · 19/05/2019 14:52

I hope they don't do that thing where the last scene is a corpse, and suddenly it opens a bright blue eye....

Cottonwoolmouth · 19/05/2019 14:54

I binge watched from the start this weekend and I’m glad I did. So many things from the season one are in this season.

Lots of stuff I’d forgotten about. One good scene I’d forgotten about was when the red lady was giving birth in a cave to a shadow demon thing and the onion Knight was shitting him self! Such good acting off him and her.

I hope I enjoy this last episode and I’m going to get up and watch it which will kill me off fir the school run the next day!

I’ve got a nagging feeling Gendry is going to be left sitting on the throne ...

SweetSummerchild · 19/05/2019 15:09

Realistically he’s not going to finish the books is he?

Given the fact that ADWD was published in 2011 and we still don’t have Winds, I can’t ever see the book series fully finished. Winds and Dream are both supposed to be 1500 pages, but a good 10-15% of Winds will be made up of chapters that didn’t fit into Dance. I think that includes all of the sample chapters.
