That last thread filled up quickly! Here's a new one for us.

As a PP said, I can't quite forget how vile Dom was to Malik in the early days, so his rehabilitation has never made me warm to him. It looks as though his troubles aren't over, though. Carol to the rescue?

Oh, Frankie will definitely be back. Right about the time Essie has given up thinking she will and has fully bonded with the baby.

SoupDragon · 23/08/2019 16:41

Ric was unpleasant but i think he's scared.

Optimist1 · 23/08/2019 17:25

Ric's uncharacteristic behaviour would fit with AGnu 's predictions of a brain tumour.

At the moment, this thread is far more interesting than the programme itself! Grin

I hope they don't just regurgitate Casualty's Duffy dementia storyline with Ric. He's already had cancer once, donkeys' years ago, so a brain tumour is definitely plausible.

QueenofmyPrinces · 27/08/2019 21:09

What a really boring episode.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 27/08/2019 21:16

It wasn't the worst I've seen.
What was the phone call that made Essie cry? Have they turned her down for adoption?

QueenofmyPrinces · 27/08/2019 22:32

That’s the impression I got - hence why suddenly she was planning on making a lovely home for the baby whereas prior to the phone call she wanted the baby gone.

I wonder where this storyline is headed. Will Essie abscond with the baby? Or refuse to give it back to its mum whenever she does return?

The fact she lied to Dom and said that the mother came back for the baby implies she’s got something sinister in mind?

spiderlight · 27/08/2019 23:36

Yup, I reckon she'll try to hang onto her, either by reporting Frankie to SS for dumping her and arguing that she's 'family' and therefore has a legitimate claim to take her on, or by doing some sort of runner with her.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 28/08/2019 06:25

The 'family' link is tenuous, considering Raf had never mentioned her.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 28/08/2019 11:37

I thought the Chloe/Evan stuff was well done, especially that final scene in the flat. I finally began to see Evan not just as Isaac-lite but someone with his own storyline, and the gaslighting is really coming to the fore now with much more sinister effect.

Essie's storyline is just ludicrous, and as for that phone going off all the time...! But she looked quite unhinged at the end with all those baby clothes all over the bed and her promises to make a lovely cosy home.

I still have no idea why Frankie gave her the baby in the first place.

lololove · 28/08/2019 18:04

To be fair Raf and Essie happened out of nowhere in the first place and they got married after what felt like 2 days just so she could mourn him Grin

I missed most of this ep because we had an amazing thunderstorm for most of the hour but what I did see (and the last few episodes) means I 'm not going to download it to fill in the blanks. Blah.

You just know Frankie will return when the baby has settled and thinks of Essie as her mum and vice versa for the baby.

Frith2013 · 28/08/2019 20:52

Evan used to be Jamie on EastEnders, Sonia’s boyfriend.

How did I not recognise him before?!

QueenofmyPrinces · 28/08/2019 21:10

Because he looks so so so so much older Grin

SoupDragon · 29/08/2019 07:41

To be fair, he is 17 years older :o

SoupDragon · 29/08/2019 07:42

I agree that Essie was turned down for adoption and is now planning on "adopting" baby Isla. Clearly it will not end well.

MyOtherProfile · 29/08/2019 08:22

Yes sadly I don't think it can end well. She's not going to go off on adoption leave is she?

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 29/08/2019 09:08

We can but hope. A year at least.

PretendLife · 29/08/2019 10:21

I thought Essie had already been accepted for adoption though? very unlikely she would actually get a baby I imagine, probably an older kid. But yes it is depressingly obvious what is going to happen with her story.

Evan, like most men, would look at least 15 years younger if he shaved that horrible greying beard off.

Evan/Chloe is a good storyline but they have done it too close to the Dom/Isaac one.

SoupDragon · 29/08/2019 11:17

I wonder if there are lots of hoops to jump through for adoption and she's got through some of the early ones and failed whatever this one was. She was provisionally accepted I think.

PretendLife · 29/08/2019 13:38

We are getting too bogged down with the detail here! - not something that bothers Holby script writers!

Anything that gets Essie out of the way is good, maybe she will go on the run with the baby?

SoupDragon · 29/08/2019 16:08

It won't get her out of the way, it will put her right at the forefront.

spiderlight · 29/08/2019 16:20

I bet she'll drag Dom into it somehow as well, and/or Sascha.

lololove · 29/08/2019 16:41

I think the beard is so that the tiniest psycho in the world looks more masculine potentially?

Optimist1 · 29/08/2019 19:17

I think it was Dom who mentioned Raf's brother (?) Giuseppe. I'd forgotten about him, but it would be so easy for Essie to contact him and make enquiries about Frankie.

It's a bit of a worry that she's keeping the baby secret from even her best friends - that'll be a problem to keep her hidden. There'll be tears and heartbreak in the near future in this storyline!

QueenofmyPrinces · 30/08/2019 08:46

I’m guessing she will make out that the adoption agency got in touch, they have accepted her already had a baby ready for her to adopt and this baby just happens to be it.
