That last thread filled up quickly! Here's a new one for us.

As a PP said, I can't quite forget how vile Dom was to Malik in the early days, so his rehabilitation has never made me warm to him. It looks as though his troubles aren't over, though. Carol to the rescue?

She was Lebanese IIRC, MyOtherProfile .

Ah! I didn't spot that. I just remembered she spoke French.

QueenofmyPrinces · 20/08/2019 10:59

That really was the most pointless storyline wasn’t it? I don’t understand why they even bothered with it?

spiderlight · 20/08/2019 16:08

It was utterly pointless, unless she's going to reappear pregnant or something.

MyOtherProfile · 20/08/2019 16:26

Yes pointless and not very credible. Fits the pattern Grin

spiderlight · 20/08/2019 23:06

Well, that was plausible, Essie being given a baby in a car park. Is this going to bugger up an official adoption that she'd just been approved for (hence the glow at the start of the adoption)?

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 21/08/2019 07:11

Happens all the time in real life...

MyOtherProfile · 21/08/2019 08:49

Yes. I'm always fending off people trying to give me babies in car parks. At work we are struggling a bit with people who leave their job with no notice and don't even stop to clear their stuff out of the classroom. Fortunately supply staff are always available at the drop of a hat and come with their own dramatic storyline. Unless of course that day being short staffed is the main story line.

Oh and don't even get me started on the work place romances. Just like Holby there is a total ban on having relationships with anyone who doesn't work with us.

Who said Holby isn't realistic?

PretendLife · 21/08/2019 09:37

Wait though....how old is that baby? So, Raf was the only member of Frankie's family that helped her when she was having the baby...how long ago did Raf die? surely before that baby was even born? and if Raf was being supportive to Frankie at that time, how come Essie didn't know about it and she would have been with Raf then? How could Frankie not know that Raf had died as he would surely have been supporting her at the time?

The timings of this ridiculous story just do not stack up. Yet again, lazy writers.

I may have missed this, but did Fletch and Ange actually shag or not get further than a kiss? he sounded like an overgrown teenager pretending that he had got further than he had in that conversation with Kiran.

I do hope that Ric isn't going to be used to copy the Duffy storyline.

SweetestThing · 21/08/2019 11:15

I thought she had a child before that was taken away from her - maybe that's when she meant Raf supported her?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 21/08/2019 11:37

Raf has been dead since he was on Strictly, and there's been another series since then, so unless she's an elephant, he knew nothing about this pregnancy.

I didn't really follow why the baby had to be given to Mother Essie - why couldn't the actual mother keep her? Have to admit, I stopped concentrating for large sections of that storyline.

PretendLife · 21/08/2019 11:44

A previous child..I must have missed that. But even so, as Raf and Essie were married I think he would have told her about this relative he helped through having a baby.

I predict what will happen is that the mother will not be back in a week for the baby and Essie will bring it up as her own until the mother decides she does wants the baby back, heartbreak all round.

ISaySteadyOn · 21/08/2019 14:34

I thought it was more that Frankie had come to find Raf because she thought he would help her with this baby. She thought that because he sent her birthday cards. And the bit about him having treated or advised her was a lie.

ISaySteadyOn · 21/08/2019 14:37

Also, I thought Evan really increased the creepiness this week. That foot in the door scene was v unsettling.

SoupDragon · 21/08/2019 15:05

I think Evan is really really creepy and thus scary. Isaac was scary in a different way (mor physically threatening). Both are equally menacing IMO.

The whole Frankie thing was odd. I agree that RAF had been supportive of her in the past and the only family member who showed an interest in her which is why she thought he would help her. I don't think he necessarily helped her through having the first baby taken. Surely she wondered why he hadn't sent her a card recently though.

It isn't meant to be realistic anyway.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 21/08/2019 15:15

You mean Holby doesn't exist?Shock

Optimist1 · 21/08/2019 15:35

Agree with you all that if Frankie was a member of Raf's family she would have heard of his death, especially given the circumstances (he was neither old nor ill). It was sooooo obvious as soon as she admitted to having a baby, that Essie would end up looking after it.

Anyone else very disappointed with the storyline they're developing for Ric? I don't mind him ageing, or struggling a bit with modern technology, but this incompetence is hard to watch.

And Can't-Remember-Her-Name will decide not to say anything to Chloe, to protect her, rather than telling her all, including the suspicion he wanted her out of the room, and they won't conduct a thorough search for whatever he might have nicked and thereby come across the secret camera.

AGnu · 21/08/2019 20:01

Can't-Remember-Her-Name

Squiggle. EastEnders reference.

My Ric prediction is that he's got a brain aneurysm or tumour or something very, very serious & Xav will keep going on about his behaviour until he collapses. Xav will send him straight for a brain scan, discover the issue, operate immediately & save his life. He'll be off recovering the next week but the week after that he'll be back. Donna will gently ask him if he's sure it's not too soon, he'll reassure her & the whole thing will be forgotten within a month.

Optimist1 · 21/08/2019 22:04

Thanks for a reassuring Ric scenario, AGnu - I could live with that!

lololove · 22/08/2019 19:56

Considering that Raf and Essie got together and got married in record time after a couple of eps of FWB purely for her to have more of a reaction when he died...? I can buy that they didn't talk that much Grin

Ugh, can Mange sod off already? She's such a perfect Mary Sue who can do nothing wrong despite putting stresses on the hospital, the theatres and the staff and noone apparently daring to stand up to her. Even the CEO was bought in by one of her sob stories and went against the boards decisions after her Xfactor sob story. She ordered Carole to tell Dom - then tried to push Dom away in the next breath and so on and so forth.... ugh ugh ugh! Has there been any episode that she hasn't been up front and center in since she joined? If its not her, it's Holly, Chloe, Dom, Fletch, Isaac, Evan's storylines she's all up in. Blargh.

Also Fletch and Mange have no chemistry whatsoever!

lololove · 22/08/2019 19:57

Unlike Kian and Fletch Grin

(posted too soon Grin )

PretendLife · 23/08/2019 11:01

Mange!! I like that. I posted about her and her bossiness before. Can't stand her.

Kian is Fletch's new blokey-mate to replace Raf.

I hope they don't do the dementia storyline with Ric because there is no coming back from that, unlike his cancer that nearly killed him a few years ago.

QueenofmyPrinces · 23/08/2019 14:34

I found Ric really, really unpleasant last night. I don’t know where the writers are going with this but I don’t like it.

And yes, Ange.....God she was vile.

And the baby storyline was quite bizarre - I also question whether Frankie is going to return...

EBearhug · 23/08/2019 16:36

I also question whether Frankie is going to return...

I think she will, but as she walks over to the hospital, she will be run over by a car, possibly driven by Ric or Ethanol (thanks, autocorrect) or a cast member who inexplicably has so far escaped being treated by their own colleagues in a near-death experience. Despite everyone doing all they can, Frankie will end up dieing instead of collecting her baby. Guilty driver may or may not survive, depending on who it is, their necessity to future plotlines and current death ratios of employees:employees' friends and families.
