So, now we battle for King's Landing and the Throne.

The penultimate episode of this most epic of tales. Can Cersei survive? Will Euron catch on and wonder how Tyrion could have known of the pregnancy? Will Arya and the Hound beat Jaime in the race south?

As ever, no leaks or spoilers please until we watch the episode live together. Our Watch begins....

I wonder if Varys was writing to Yata - surely there's no one else who could swoop in and save the day?

Also what happened to the massive dragon slaying cross bow under the city? Surely that was the day to use it?

RussianSpamBot · 13/05/2019 10:53

They all got taken out didn't they?

GhostIsAGoodBoi · 13/05/2019 10:59

Not surprised Dany burnt it all. She’s lost all her allies and Jon isn’t interested in her any more.

His face when she started burning the city. He looked so hopeless. Not even during any confrontation with the NK or WW did he look like that.

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 13/05/2019 10:59

Cersei's death was utter shite.

I'm not sure how I feel with all that. Are we meant to believe Dany was just blowing shit up without a second thought to who may have been underneath (ie dorthraki, unsullied, Jon et al)? Cos she was just going for it.

BeyondOverTheMoon · 13/05/2019 11:00

Arya still has green eyes to shut btw, but don't forget she also has brown eyes to shut. Who has brown eyes that get zoomed in on an awful lot...?

MoominMantra · 13/05/2019 11:01

Dany is going to have to die and so is the dragon. She really lost it didn't she. I think Arya will assassinate her because of Melisandre's prophecy about eye colour.

MoominMantra · 13/05/2019 11:02

Brown eyes was Walder Frey I thought?

fancynancyclancy · 13/05/2019 11:02

Who has brown eyes that get zoomed in on an awful lot...? 😲😲

fancynancyclancy · 13/05/2019 11:03

Grey worm to get to Dany?

fancynancyclancy · 13/05/2019 11:05

i want Drogan to live.

BurntSausage · 13/05/2019 11:08

Qyburn’s death gets the thumbs up from me. Just watched it again. Nice 🤣

I agree the Cersei’s death was a bit unsatisfying although I did like the cascade of falling ceiling heading towards them.

Do you think we’ll see Bronn again? Or any of them at Maybe Daenerys will go after Sansa next.

Going to say it again: love Peter
Dinklage. I’m glad Tyrion made it to the last episode.

BeyondOverTheMoon · 13/05/2019 11:10

I've read it meant Walder Frey too, but why would that be significant to Melisandre?

TheLastNigel · 13/05/2019 11:11

Burn them all indeed.

I've surprised myself by actually quite liking that episode.
I've loathed Dany since the get go. Never trusted her so I feel quite vindicated Smile. I don't think they could have gone anywhere else with her character really, other than full on crazy.

Liked scenes with Tyrion and Jamie, Jaime and Cersei-didn't even mind the Cleganes...
Liked Arya choosing to live rather than seek revenge-and all of her bits where she was trying to escape.
Quite liked Jamie and Cersei's ending-felt it was a nice story arc, for him especially.
Liked Qyburns swift despatch.
Didn't even mind Varys' end.

Would have liked a more Dramatic death for Euron-he's so pantomime that I felt he needed a bit more drama.
Three cheers for the dragon! Though why he didn't do about half as much of that about two episodes ago is anyone's guess-one week dragons are getting picked off very easily, the next they survive attacks by multiple scorpions with ease, which is a bit Hmm.
Jon Snow was again pretty meh wasn't he?
I hope they are building up to a big last episode from him because otherwise wtf?

I would really like Bran to have been that horse but I think we might be done with him now which is again wtf? That's a lot of supposition with not much point.

My prediction is that Dany will now go after Sansa and Jon-Arya will die saving Sansa-Tyrion will die along the way-jon will kill Dany-possibly using Drogon who will recognise his Targaryen-ness- then decide he doesn't want the iron throne and go back beyond the wall-hopefully with Ghost and Tormund and leave Sansa on the throne, (Davos, Sam and Brienne to keep her company) -Gendry being ignored as usual.
I hope it's set back at Winterfell just as it's nice to end where we started...

Not everyone is going to be happy with the end, and the expectations are so high that I feel a bit sorry for D and D-although they lost my sympathy with the Ghost thing-still seething!

Lweji · 13/05/2019 11:12

I didn't like Cersei on this episode. The whole ground fell from under her and she still had that sort of smirk that she always has.
It all seemed just like another day at the office for her. Even if she is always cold as ice, it seemed too icy.

Figgygal · 13/05/2019 11:21

I feel a bit sorry for D&D as well expectations were just so high however they have brought it on themselves to some extent by bringing it to a close with such few episodes and underestimated peoples need for closure on so many story threads

BurntSausage · 13/05/2019 11:23

Yeah Figgy I kinda agree. I wonder what the thinking was behind having only six episodes - has anyone read anything about that?

Figgygal · 13/05/2019 11:23

Did anyone else think that the hound had been glamorised somehow. Hair was more luscious scars seemed more hidden he had that lovely moment with Arya. Wish he'd just shoved the mountain and survived somehow

Shostakobitch · 13/05/2019 11:24

I took Dany's burning of kings landing as her realisation, and anger, that the people would never love her. She said this in the beginning, the people would always love Jon more.

I think her going all mad queen makes perfect sense and I'm happy with that. But overall this season has been so disappointing. 7 and a half seasons of building up the night king only for him to be killed with a single stab wound, so much left unexplained like Crastor's sons, the NK's motives of etc. Hard to see how this will all be wrapped up.

It seems so rushed and it's such a shame because the first 6 seasons were brilliant!

ChidiAnnaKendrick · 13/05/2019 11:25

They had 6 episodes because D&D wanted it. They couldn’t be bothered to do more. This was shit.

BeyondOverTheMoon · 13/05/2019 11:30

I don't have any issue with any of the story exactly, apart from that it feels rushed. Not even Dany's turn itself - I agree that mad queen has been coming since the beginning - just the whole thing. The random flipping back and forth between locations (like back a few seasons ago where Jon had his teleporter...)

BlackCatSleeping · 13/05/2019 11:34

They didn’t have 6 episodes because they couldn’t be bothered. They wanted to make the last season spectacular so didn’t have the budget to make more episodes.

I’m enjoying this season. I think it’s really exciting. I think Varys was writing to all of Jon’s allies to help defeat Dany and put Jon on the throne. Jon has always been a natural leader. Tyrion has always sucked when given power.

BeyondOverTheMoon · 13/05/2019 11:36

Six 90 min episodes = 9 hour long episodes though

sashh · 13/05/2019 11:39

I feel a bit sorry for D and D-although they lost my sympathy with the Ghost thing-still seething!

Maybe Ghost will find Nymeria and bring her wolves back?

bigKiteFlying · 13/05/2019 11:46

I'm wondering now if Jon is going to witness the second woman he loves being killed in front of him by someone he trusts - this time Arya.

I'm hoping Sansa has some plan - I think it's going to end in Winterfell where it started.

I think Grey worm is going to go for Jon - given how he looked when Jon tried to hold the men back from sacking the city.

There were a lot of good moments in this episode - but the whole series feels very rushed.

ElenadeClermont · 13/05/2019 11:50

"I don't know if you know more than me about this, but what I've been told is that George has already written books six and seven," McElhinney said. "And as far as he's concerned, there only are seven books. But he struck an agreement with David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], the showrunners of the series, that he would not publish the final two books until the series has completed. So all goes well, in another month or two, we might get books six and seven, and I'm intrigued to know how Barristan, for instance, ends up going through those final two books."
