Oh and did anyone see the Throne cast following the show? Poor Sue Perkins was doing her best but her guests were almost mute!! It was awful.

Haven't watched this weeks yet but I think that most weeks the panel just sit around not saying a lot waiting till they can make their pre planned joke! And the old cast only ever seem to want to talk about their characters who are long dead it's a shame I think it's a show that could have been good but isn't!

yumyumpoppycat · 01/05/2019 14:47

I haven't really watched it often but do remember the last thronecast I saw was pretty awkward, I think I preferred it before sue started tbh, it's possible production team also changed at the point so not necessarily her fault? Given how there are currently at least 2 threads talking on here talking about this one episode they should be able to make it interesting. I quite like Talking Dead after a good episode of TWD so it can work, although I did think things had gone a bit too far when there was a post show discussion of great British bake off!

JasperRising · 01/05/2019 14:55

What happened to the super knowledgeable couple from the asoif website who used to be in throne cast? (Can you tell I stopped watching for a few seasons?) They used to do a segment explaining obscure points or new characters. I guess they became less relevant as the show diverged from the books.

TheweewitchRoz · 01/05/2019 15:07

The bait and switch scene fooled me @SweetSummerchild Blush

SweetSummerchild · 01/05/2019 15:08

JasperRising are you talking about Elio and Linda from Westeros.org? They’re the most super knowledgeable people I know of.

NunoGoncalves · 01/05/2019 15:15

Has there been mention of the theory that there is still more to come in the NK/Bran story and that the NK was coming to knell to Bran when he was killed. It seems to be based on the fact that Bran was warging for a long time but we weren't shown where he was

I do hope there is something more to it like that, because I found the NK's death so anticlimactic. And I was wondering what Bran was doing with the crows that whole time. Seemed totally pointless, which is very unlikely. The show isn't gonna waste time in such a big episode having Bran warg for absolutely no reason. So what was going on?

Dunno if the NK was going to kneel though. They made a point of showing him reaching for the sword on his back.

JasperRising · 01/05/2019 15:19

SweetSummerchild Yes, that was the names! They were super knowledgeable

JasperRising · 01/05/2019 15:23

NunoGoncalves the amount of time of Bran warging was out of sync with the amount of ravens wasn't it? I think most of the time we have seen more of what he was seeing. It seemed odd at the time but not sure what I make of it - the madder theories around it seem a bit too overthinking!

SweetSummerchild · 01/05/2019 15:25

JasperRising yes, they are. They wrote the World of Ice and Fire and I think they literally are Maester Yendel (Eeee and Elll).

Elio hasn’t watched the show since season 5, I think because of the Dorne storyline. Linda still does livestreams on their Westeros.org Youtube channel after every show.

They know way more than anyone else about the series, and I think GRRM has given them more hints about the future of the series than he has anyone other than D&D.They do ‘fixate’ on their own particular favourites and favourite storylines, though.

SweetSummerchild · 01/05/2019 15:29

Bran is having trouble trying to jumpstart the Delorian. He is going to stay in Winterfell when Team Trimphant goes south (along with Sansa who will be hatching fiendish plans to overthrow everyone). Eventually he will refill the flux capacitor in time to change something in episode 6. It will be the last ‘holy shit’ moment (or related to it).

Hodor cannot be the entire point of the time travel arc. It would be stupid. Then again....

Fazackerley · 01/05/2019 15:30

SweetSummerchild love it

NunoGoncalves · 01/05/2019 16:28

It seemed odd at the time but not sure what I make of it - the madder theories around it seem a bit too overthinking!

I'm not one for mad theories but I'm 100% sure that the GoT showrunners would not include it for no reason. So I'm confident there is something more to come from Bran.

itswinetime · 01/05/2019 16:32

Hod-or cannot be the entire point of the time travel arc. It would be stupid. Then again....

I feel that! Although I am starting to think people expect the holy shit moments to have meaning and that is why they are important but so far while being shocking they haven't had a big revelation about the story. I think the 3rd one maybe the same we will be shocked but I don't think we be shocked while think ahh I see what you did there if that makes sense?

Yep tightarse 😂
I wasn’t laughing at the time, I thought I was going to bite my fingers off!

Tightarseparent1 · 01/05/2019 17:22

I know! The entire episode I gave myself a head ache Grin

ElspethFlashman · 01/05/2019 18:16

That interview with Peter Dinklage - I read it at the time (Vulture, I think?) and he was definitely referring just to people's last days filming. They all tried to be on set on each others last days, if possible. He wasn't talking about a tragic character death! It was just their last day at the office!

agirlhasnonameX · 01/05/2019 19:17

Then again Jon could be the point. Still doesn't feel enough.
Bran should be the most powerful character in Westeros. He has to do something more before it's over.

I wish I had the patience to wait and watch the episodes back to back like a long movie, think that's how they are supposed to be watched.

littlebillie · 01/05/2019 19:20

I love the hope of the Dothraki 🔥 it was so sad

EugenesAxe · 01/05/2019 19:29

OK thanks all for explaining that interview with Peter D. It's good to know it was just BAU last scenes!

OneInAMillionYou · 01/05/2019 20:19

When the Dothraki swords were lit, I thought it was a magnificent moment of hope and optimism. I loved the way the characters faces showed that. Then the return of the fear when the lights were extinguished...

It was beautiful cinematically as well.

My pragmatic self thinks that they had to get rid of the horses early on. Shooting the battles' various threads was hard enough, but trying to do it with adding the variable of the horses would have been a compete night-mare 😀

(I'll get my coat...)

It made my hairs stand when the flame rippled across the Dothraki lines and Dolores Ed smirked.
I got all choked.

sluj · 01/05/2019 21:29

Do you think there is any significance (historical or yet to come) that the NK was able to withstand the flames. Targaryen?

littlebillie · 01/05/2019 21:38

It's been an amazing story telling and there has been so many times when it's been hard to watch. I think Joffrey was still the worst

SweetSummerchild · 01/05/2019 21:43

they had to get rid of the horses early on.

You’re right. They struggled to get horses for the Riders of Rohan, and the budget for that blows GoT out the water. It mus the a logistical nightmare.

I’m so glad they never did the ice spiders. That was always destined to look crap.
