There’s always Cersei (or a possible daughter) 😂 Alys Karstark and Brienne are heirs. The kingdom could be ruled by women and bastards (Jon and Gendry), people who were seen as ‘less than’ in the days of old.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 30/04/2019 21:21

There is no way they can please everyone.

My money is on Bran, Arya, Tyrion, and Jon and/or Dany to survive. The others are fair game, much as I will be gutted to lose some of them.

I think you have to see the books and the series as separate entities, and enjoy both. They might not be able to tie up everything in the show but hopefully the books will do that.

Having said that, I've already said to DH that I want the end to be a series of Dallas/Naked Gun style turns to camera with subtitles - eg Sansa went back to Winterfell to breed Direwolf puppies 🐶 Gendry runs the best damn blacksmiths in the Seven Kingdoms - and makes all of Arya's weapons 🏹. Tyrion and the Hound drink and know things 🍷🍷🍷

Willyoubuymeahouseofgold · 30/04/2019 21:23

I think Jon is doomed as Melisandre said something like...
" The Lord of Light brought him back from the dead for a purpose , and now that purpose has been served " ( saved Arya)
Beric and Jon are wights of the LoL because the were brought back ftom the dead . Think Tthis scene tells us once Jons purpose in the, grander scheme has been served ... he's a goner Shock

agirlhasnonameX · 30/04/2019 21:49

@Leontine that's true, was assuming Cersei was dead haha😂 don't know how I forgot about Brienne and Alys though!!

OrianaBanana · 30/04/2019 22:44

Agirl Arianne Martell was heir to Dorne in the books but I can’t remember if she made it into the TV series (it’s been so long...)

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 30/04/2019 22:44

in the show they are heading for a Sansa/Tyrion remarriage

They don't need one, their marriage was never annulled, either in the books or the telly series and another 'marriage' she had was invalid and rape, as her marriage to Tyrion was never set aside by a High Septon and she married him in plain sight of many. She is still, both in the books and the series, married to Tyrion bar consummation. She does express this several times in the books, in her mind, that she'd prefer being married to Tyrion and to Littlefinger, who brokers her marriage to someone else, 'But I AM married! You know!' and he banks on Tyrion's death.

The books ultimately leave the door open to the validity of her marriage to Tyrion if he is not dead, a prospect with grows increasingly positive to Sansa.

JasperRising · 30/04/2019 22:48

Alys Karstark and Brienne are heirs show Alys is dead though right? We didn't see her flee the gods wood and it was just Theon and Bran at the end.

LaurieMarlow · 30/04/2019 22:59

but I can’t remember if she made it into the TV series

She didn’t. I’m still bitter, she is one of my favourite characters. Sad

The entire handling of Dorne was a particular low point for the show. Oberyn was great but they only included the sand snakes for some sexy ninja action, Doran made no impression whatsoever and then the whole thing just fizzled out entirely.

maisie123 · 30/04/2019 23:49

On second viewing I noticed how little dialogue there was. Dani only spoke eight words the whole episode, Jon not much more. The whole script was probably written on two sides of A4. Makes it a hard episode to direct.

EugenesAxe · 30/04/2019 23:54

Leontine - darn, it didn't register when I saw it. Fair enough.

I feel stupid about "38" now. I guess it was too esoteric for me Blush

I read this on Den of Geek:

In the interview, Dinklage discusses his bittersweet experience filming the final season, noting how the final scene of one young castmember deeply affected the cast and crew. "Everybody was a wreck. This person had grown up on the show, you know? They were a child and now they were an adult. And then they’re done. It’s like we were witnessing this person saying good-bye to their childhood."

I kind of hope it's Lyanna Mormont, because otherwise I guess we're talking Stark children falling later down the line Sad

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 01/05/2019 01:49

Where did the Red Woman apear from?

There's Jorah and the Dothraki all standing ready, facing off against the Army of the Dead (straight ahead), when out of the darkness strolls a horse carrying Melisandre. How?

It's really irritated me, as it seems more likely to be a convenient plot hole than anything of significance.

Found it really interesting that the Night King and the White Walkers all broke into shards of ice, whilst the wights returned to their dead forms.

Moving forwards, I think death will certainly be on the cards for Jon Snow, given that he was brought back by the Lord of Light.

I'm not convinced that Euron's bended knee is a proposal, as marriage proposals in GoT are more of a discussion/transaction than a romantic gesture.

Lastly, if the WW/NK threat has been eradicated, wildlings have moved South, and with a hole in the wall at Eastwatch-on-Sea, surely there will be no need for a Lord Commander and Night's Watch moving forward?

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 01/05/2019 01:51

@EugenesAxe - he could just mean when they filmed their last scene on the show (including those that make it to the very end).

It will certainly be the end of a significant era for those who started so young.

Leontine · 01/05/2019 02:36

@jasperrising I’m sure I saw her in the crypt.

@lauriemarlow I read the books after I’d started watching the show and was surprised by how different the Sand Snakes are. I hated them in the show but in the books they actually seemed alright.

Fazackerley · 01/05/2019 06:26

EugenesAxe could he be talking about theon?

SweetSummerchild · 01/05/2019 06:47

Where did the Red Woman apear from?

She’d watched the Lego Movie 2 and she found a hole to a different universe using a Convenient Plot Device detector.

Seriously, though, what the f*ck were the Dothraki going to charge the army of the dead with before she turned up? They had arakhs, and we’d already been told that only dragonglass, Valyrian steel and fire works against them. This looks like a serious flaw in the army of the living’s battle plan.

I’m glad she showed up right at the start. It was inevitable that she was going to turn up as the acress’ name was on the beginning credits, so it was never going to be a surprise.

I think she was out for most of last season as she was spending time with her RL baby.

fancynancyclancy · 01/05/2019 06:57

I'm assuming Theon charging at the NK gave Arya a little bit more time to get to the tree...

Yes & also a false sense of security that he had killed the last protector of Bran.

SweetSummerchild · 01/05/2019 07:12

I really hope that the book Arya threw in the library wasn’t The Secret Diary of High Septon Maynard. What will we do without the record of bowel movements and the annulment of Ragnar and Elia’s marriage?

The plot will just fall apart!

Oh, wait...

clearingaspaceforthecat · 01/05/2019 08:07

Tyrion will side with House Stark when the rupture comes between them and Dani. He stated that either Varys or Jorah would be the Hand of the Queen before too long, and Jorah is dead now.
I think he will be show loyalty to Sansa and become her advisor.

AnotherEmma · 01/05/2019 08:11

"The whole script was probably written on two sides of A4."

Sorry to be pedantic but the script will include the action and not just dialogue!

SweetSummerchild · 01/05/2019 08:26

I’m going to make a tinfoil prediction...

I reckon we’ll see a Bronn vs Jaime showdown. We’ll see Bronn fire the crossbow but we won’t see if it hits and the camera will cut away to another scene.

Later we’ll see Jaime have a showdown with Cersei and he will kill her. The viewer will be asking “is this Jaime, or Arya wearing his face?” Just before she dies, Cersei will realise that it was actually.......

Probably won’t happen like that as it’s way too predictable.

Tilikum · 01/05/2019 09:04

OrianaBanana

Speaking of Bronze Yohn, what the hell is he doing up there? hmm Littlefinger brought them but he was exposed and Sansa has nothing very little to do with the Vale.

In the books all the Knights of the Vale were desperate to join the war on Robb Stark's side but Lysa Arryn wouldn't allow it, so maybe now they're just raring to go after being stuck on a mountain for years?

Loopytiles · 01/05/2019 09:04

I don’t think Peter Dinklage was referring to Lyanna, as she is still very young. More likely to be Arya, Bran or Sansa.

agirlhasnonameX · 01/05/2019 09:16

@SweetSummerchild your posts are making me have lols 😂

Did the Dothraki not have arakhs made from dragon glass though? Either way, sending them in to suicide it was stupid, a seasoned commander would never have done that, cavalry can shock and change an out numbered battle if it's timed right. I get that's how the Dothraki fight, but they could have had them at the flank and charged them in later, Rohan and Gandalf style. (Although their scene was one of my favourite visually) It would have made more sense actually for the whole army to hold up inside the walls, not sure if they where just trying to buy time for J+D by being outside. The only reason to be out there would be to protect the trebuchets and they fired them once.
I have to assume though that the Dothraki took out the remaining giants whilst they where there, as they vanished too, so maybe they didn't die in vein.

JasperRising · 01/05/2019 09:24

The dothraki are a bit depressing really. They have never crossed the sea but do it for Dany and then are all killed in a suicide move that was destined to fail fighting an enemy that was no threat to their homes (since wights can't swim...). And I wonder what they felt about it all? We got to see grey worm and Missandei in the north but the Dothraki characters were sidelined since she got other allies. Bit harsh to just have them in the background as wordless sacrifices when they had helped her gain power twice (even if she had to burn herself twice to convince them!)
