I think the Night King will be in the books to come though.

I never thought I'd say this, but I think I'd actually be ok with Tyrion and Sansa. I love Tyrion in the show though so I'm probably really bias, but their moment in the crypt made me shed a tear 😂

Sansa has been one of my least favourite characters though, I think they over done the abusive relationships and I don't think she's done enough to grow from them for it to have been important to her story. And now I'm a little worried she will end up bending to Dani. If getting together with Tyrion is it, it wouldn't be so great either, really want her to become a stronger character and do something more.

Yohoahoy · 30/04/2019 19:35

I was just idly wondering,as you do, whether Euron might actually kill Cersei in an epic double cross.

Which would actually make the prophecy about Cersei's death come true - I don't remember it specifying that the little brother had to be her little brother, did it? And he is a younger Greyjoy brother..

Apols if I've missed someone already suggest this.

It would be quite interesting if she got killed off earlier than we're all expecting!!

JasperRising · 30/04/2019 19:38

I to admit that though i have read a lot of this thread I may have missed bits. Has there been mention of the theory that there is still more to come in the NK/Bran story and that the NK was coming to knell to Bran when he was killed. It seems to be based on the fact that Bran was warging for a long time but we weren't shown where he was (so he was doing something including negotiating/linking with NK) and that Tyrion now knows something because of his chat with Bran which we didn't get to here? Tyrion will therefore have to kill Bran in this theory.

I get the desire for such a plot twist as the NK was built up for so long and is now dead after one battle and the point of Bran beyond discovering R+L=J hasn't really been explained. And GoT is known for its twists. Personally though I am not sure that could be pulled off in a good way - that said is slightly more believable than Littlefinger having used the Faceless Men to take his death...

I took Tyrion wanting to chat to Bran as reflecting his season 1 kindness to Bran and his interest in stories and dragons and magic (which fell by the wayside in the show). Or maybe I am not imaginative enough!

yumyumpoppycat · 30/04/2019 19:43

I have to say I am slightly irritated Theon charged at the night king, if he had hung on 2 minutes all would have been well, I guess the attempt helped demonstrate that the NK couldn't be easily killed by a 'normal' warrior and also was a hint that it might not be jon to kill him? But yeah bran was absolving him and sending him to his death. I do love that sansa had clearly forgiven theon though and that he has experienced some love just before he died even if it was sisterly love. If Bran is the conductor could it have been to clear the way for a sansa theon union? Could that 'moment' last week between sansa and theon also have been to prepare us for Sansa now seeing the attractive qualities of tyrion, there aren't many men left as we have mentioned before and tyrion is funny, supposedly clever, handsome in a scruffy way - he has a lot more to offer her than theon (ahem) and I think he would make her happier because although he is kind he is ambitious and not quite as traumatised. Also the political shenanigans might keep her interested.

Huntlybyelection · 30/04/2019 19:45

I'm assuming Theon charging at the NK gave Arya a little bit more time to get to the tree...

yumyumpoppycat · 30/04/2019 19:48

Yes that's true and a bit of a distraction too.

lazylinguist · 30/04/2019 19:50

I'm glad the NK and his gang are done for already, and I didn't feel the need for any more back story or motive on their part tbh. They were pure cold evil and just wanted to annihilate everyone. A great enemy to fight, but what comes next will be much more interesting. The Game of Thrones is what it's really all about, after all.
I'm also glad it was Arya who killed the NK. I wouldn't have guessed that before the beginning of this episode, but did guess it fairly early on in the episode.

So sad about Jorah Sad but it was definitely on the cards.

ElenadeClermont · 30/04/2019 20:09

Nut no one is ever purely evil in the song of Ice and Fire. Not even Cersei.

I love the idea that the NK was about to bend the knee. Bran was up to something.

Varys knows the Red Keep better than anyone. They still need him.

iklboo · 30/04/2019 20:11

38 people left - where does this number come from?

We've made it up. So many people died (Dothraki, Unsullied, Wildlings) we reckon there must be only 38 people left in Dany's army Grin

LaurieMarlow · 30/04/2019 20:15

Pretty much all the unsullied dying except greyworm is like the most serendipitous thing of all time Grin

I was just idly wondering,as you do, whether Euron might actually kill Cersei in an epic double cross.

I'm wondering about that too. In the trailer for next week he goes to one knee in front of her - do you think he will persuade her to marry him? A wedding would be just the thing for Cersei, in GOT getting married is so fraught with danger, she'd be lucky to survive it.

lazylinguist · 30/04/2019 20:18

no one is ever purely evil in the song of Ice and Fire. Not even Cersei.

Yes but Cersei is a living human being who has feelings, loved her children etc. Of course she's not 100% evil. The NK is surely a whole different kettle of fish. Not seeing much evidence of any non-evil characteristics in him so far, and it's a bit late now!

ladymarian · 30/04/2019 20:20

EugenesAxe - a lot of people "ship" Sansa and Jon and I can kind of see it. They don't have a normal sibling relationship and I think they have a certain chemistry. Now that they're cousins and not siblings, who knows?! Don't think there's time left to explore that awkward angle though!
I am so upset about Jorah too! 😭😭

LarryGreysonsDoor · 30/04/2019 20:33

DH spent at least 20 minutes buggering about with it to make it watchable. He is an AV geek though.

Why didn’t they at least give the woman in the crypt a knife or something?

If Arya was so good at sneaking up on the NK then why all the creeping about in the library?

Decormad38 · 30/04/2019 20:39

@larry that was because like the hound she lost her bottle for a while. So would I in that frickin hell!

OrianaBanana · 30/04/2019 20:41

Bran - tree Grin

Love the idea of Tormund commanding the Night’s Watch!

Speaking of Bronze Yohn, what the hell is he doing up there? Hmm Littlefinger brought them but he was exposed and Sansa has nothing very little to do with the Vale.

I also missed her reunion with the Hound, who is very pally with Arya but doesn’t seem to have spoken to Sansa? (I have not seen this latest episode) I loved his rough protectiveness towards her in the books.

SweetSummerchild · 30/04/2019 20:46

Why didn’t they at least give the woman in the crypt a knife or something?

Because the crypts were sooooo safe.

I said this upthread - why did the Lady of Winterfell have no sworn shield? The whole of Westerosi custom and practice seems to have flown out the window. But, hell, it looks so much better having Sansa and Tyrion cowering behind the statue with one dagger between them.

Tightarseparent1 · 30/04/2019 20:47

that was because like the hound she lost her bottle for a while. So would I in that frickin hell!

Yep red witch refocused her!

SapatSea · 30/04/2019 20:47

I hope Varys gets more of a role again.

I have to say (and apologies if it has already been discussed) but the music, especially leading up to the NK in weirdwood was amazing. The music and theme tune is always great in GOT but this was epic, loved it.

Leontine · 30/04/2019 20:49

@eugenesaxe The Cersei bit crying with the wine has already been on after she’d slept with Euron and he said he’d put a prince in her belly.

@larrygreysonsdoor Sansa had a knife. I’m not sure if it was valyrian steel or obsidian tipped though. I was a bit confused about the bodies in the crypt thing. RE Arya in the library, the wights are sensitive to sound and movement so she had to be stealth in order to not trigger them. The library scene took place before the scene after Beric’s death with Melisandre and presumably before then she didn’t know it was her who was meant to kill the Night King. (I’m just assuming you mean why didn’t she just go straight for the Night King ASAP rather than defending the castle from the wights).

Mombie · 30/04/2019 20:53

I watched it yesterday night and can’t help but feel this is not the last of the night king. In fact I have been puzzling over it all day (should really focus at work),and I believe that Arya is pregnant with the heir to the throne, who is (after her encounter with he NK) has become a WW. In fact for some reason I think she may somehow be the mother to the NK himself. I know it sounds crazy but I can’t stop thinking about it!

Leontine · 30/04/2019 20:53

@sapatsea I adored the music! It’s right up the with Light of the Seven from the season 6 finale for me!

agirlhasnonameX · 30/04/2019 20:53

There is a theory about the bands in the title screen, they seem to be going backwards in time, when up until now they've always went forwards if that makes sense. People thought it was because of Bran time travelling. The way things are going though, it's more like everything comes full circle as pp have said and GoT is big on history repeating itself.
So... could it be possible that it will end up how it began(ish)? With every city with its own King and a broken kingdom? Euron killing Dani or vice versa would be appropriate (Harren the Black) or it might just end up that the starks again bow to the Targaryens, or that they don't and Dani has to kill Sansa (presuming Jon is king in the north no more). Probably just overthinking and there are too many possibilities with this 😂

Am I the only one who has always hated Theon? I can't forgive him. He's had a great arc and I love Alfie Allen, but his death was the first bit of emotion I've felt for him in years.

Leontine · 30/04/2019 20:59

@girlhasnoname I have wondered if it will all end in a democracy of sorts. And with the characters that are left, that perhaps it will be a kingdom of 5 queens (or at least heavily weighted in favour of the females).

agirlhasnonameX · 30/04/2019 21:02

I'd be happy if it ended with a kingdom of five queens. But there are only Sansa, Dani and Yara I think. Who was next in line for Dorne if anyone? Guess there are plenty female Frey heirs about too.
