I’m not sure there is any such thing as a ‘good’ dragon. Is Trident a ‘good’ nuclear weapon?

agirlhasnonameX · 29/04/2019 18:20

Dragons are both still alive but reckon the wounds will make them easier for Cersei to kill.

The GoT fanbase hates that Arya killed NK. I think she did it as a fan pleaser, definitely won't happen that way in the books. But very unexpected, everyone thought it would be Jon or Dani, I don't think anyone seen that coming. I think she got through the walkers because she's just that fast and sneaky. Probably why they showed her sneaking up on Jon at the weirwood tree in ep1.
Don't think the NK was that easily killed either (esp without Bran bait), he fell and survived a massive fall, then survived dragons fire.
Didn't mind the darkness and snow either, would be Hmm if the long night was during the day and think the point was that the characters didn't know what was going on either and we where seeing it how they where. I actually quite liked it.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2019 18:23

I think also it had to be Arya coming out of nowhere because she was Noone and that was her training. The NK was ready and waiting for Joan and Dany.

So what is the 3rd wtf moment going to be. It might be whatever Qyburn has been up to or Jacquen is rhaegar as mentioned on another thread?

yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2019 18:25

Joan - that sounds about right actually! Jon obviously,

SweetSummerchild · 29/04/2019 18:26

agirlhasnonameX I enjoyed the episode as well. There were bits I did and didn’t like, but tat’s the same with all ‘battle’ scenes in films. I still think the first 30 mins were the best part and the last 10 was weaker, but everyone’s entitled to disagree. I loved the dragons fighting above the clouds.

I also wasn’t that bothered about the darkness - I am grateful that DH insisted on a huge f*ck-off 4K tv. Then again, I do have crap eyesight, so nothing ever looks ‘perfect’.

fancynancyclancy · 29/04/2019 18:27

It was so fuzzy & dark. my eyes hurt from squinting.

itswinetime · 29/04/2019 18:28

There was talking of an amazing new weapon wasn't there? I know originally that looked like it could be aryas staff/dagger but maybe that is part of whatever the 3rd WTF moment is?

Tilikum · 29/04/2019 18:28

The NK had to be killed by Valyrian steel, only that or dragon glass can kill him, and Arya's Catspaw dagger is Valyrian steel

When Danaerys Dracarysed him I was cheering, then he smirked at her and got his javelin out so she flew right out of there.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2019 18:29

I sort of feel I want to watch it again but the darkness puts me off - it was necessary though for the right atmosphere.

I don't think Arya was that unexpected as mentioned Bran gave her that dagger and at the time people on here speculated that it might be how the NK is killed. She also had been in training to meet death.

agirlhasnonameX · 29/04/2019 18:33

The only NK thing I thought was blatantly predictable, was that he would die just as all hope seemed to be lost. But I thought they did a really good job of making you question everything, there where parts I really thought everyone was going to die, I don't think it was all that obvious how it was going to end.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2019 18:38
  • yeah I don't think it was obvious that Arya would kill him, more that it isn't a total betrayal to us fans that she did - there were some signs.

I thin the episode was good I really enjoyed it and feek sad I have already watched it instead of being patient and waiting for tonight when I could watch it properly (without being disturbed by pesky children keep opening the door to ask for snacks - youngest is 8 just to clarify!)

yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2019 18:40

sorry about typos laptop is perched on a counter in the kitchen while I am making dinner for pesky kids ;)

StarbucksSmarterSister · 29/04/2019 18:40

Just finished it, bloody amazing.

fancynancyclancy · 29/04/2019 18:43

When the NK walked in with his gang & the zombies parted they looked so cool I almost wanted to be ok their side!

fancynancyclancy · 29/04/2019 18:44

on not ok

MrsSpenserGregson · 29/04/2019 18:47

I have only watched the first hour of the show so far and I am so grateful I found this thread, as the whole episode was so bloody dark I couldn't see anything! I found it really, really frustrating. I know it's set in pre-electricity days, and it's atmospheric and conveys fear etc, but seriously, either I am going blind or it was much, much too dark.

fancynancyclancy · 29/04/2019 18:48

Her necklace was down to 1% charge and there were no free sockets in Winterfell. 🤣🤣

Thanks ElenadeClermont

Good memory SweetSummerchild.

fancynancyclancy · 29/04/2019 18:54

Thanks Tilikum

A bit of an oxymoron on my part there SweetSummerchild.

Tbf I do think the darkness helped to convey the message wtf is going on, where are they etc. I was just as confused as a viewer as they were.

SimonJT · 29/04/2019 18:59

I watched last night but didn’t have time to post, I tried to sleep but I was too excited!

agirlhasnonameX · 29/04/2019 19:01

Darkness is definitely deliberate and made it feel horror-like.

Even though Ghost is alive (thank god) I'm still a bit confused as to why they had him in the vanguard and why you didn't see him come back. If I was Jon I'd have had Ghost in the crypts or with Bran. Maybe a budget reason like last season, but still weird.

SweetSummerchild · 29/04/2019 19:03

Apologies for being pedantic @fancynancyclancy!

ThomasHardyPerennial · 29/04/2019 19:07

Robb said that same 'root and stem' line to Jaime when he held him captive (season 3 I think). I absolutely loved the music when Melisandre died, it was so beautiful.

itswinetime · 29/04/2019 19:09

I feel like Jon has forgotten ghost a bit in favour of his new toy a dragon. Would have loved ghost to help Arya somehow or be part or protecting Bran anything really apart from disappearing in the first 5 mins!

I'm not sure I mentioned the dragon fighting yet that looked amazing against the moon above the clouds! That was amazing!

SweetSummerchild · 29/04/2019 19:11

Here’s a thought:

Both Jaime and Tyrion still think Cersei is pregnant with Jaime’s baby as neither of them read the season 7 plot leaks. How will they feel about Cersei being destroyed ‘root and stem’?

RJnomore1 · 29/04/2019 19:12

I may well have imagined this in the same way as the in unburnable targs but:

Is there not secret tunnels from winterfell to the gods wood and did not Arya spend time as a child lurking around them?
